Thankyou x 100 I have been printing with a Canon PRO 300 for almost 2 years and only just found this video its exactly what I wanted I thought the profiles on the printer could not be changed, very happy now
hello, for the adjustment of the paper, sorry it's a bit stupid but we must therefore put the paper in question I suppose? so we lose a sheet of paper? :(
Thank you! Very helpful, however.. the last part with the Media Information Update. I only have one dropdown saying "Custom Setting", I do not have "Media Information". Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you .... I've got a fright of a problem with Monterey and Ventura and a canon GP-2000 what I think is double profiling... Ventura is a possible, Monterey seems to double profile whatever I do... You have given me another rabbit hole to explore!!!
I don’t appear to have the third tab Printer utility to be able to update the Media Info in the last step. Also I don’t understand how the profile I have set up is any different from the one I based it on. Or is it that photoshop uses the icc profile and the new option on the printer is an empty shell!?
I have a pro-200 printer and have tried this but when I added the PremiumPro Matte paper, and other media, it does not show up in the list on the front panel of the printer. It shows in the software PPL software and plugin for Lightroom but not selectable on the printer itself. Do you have any thoughts as to why?
Any chance you could do an update version of this for Ventura ? The Utilities section seems to have disappeared ! - so can't find a way to update the Media settings in the Canon Print Layout App.
Hello, I have the following problem: I imported 3 am1x profiles into media configuration tool. They were also displayed here in the list. They were also displayed in the printer (pro-200) and in the professional print & layout printing software. I then tried importing another (4th) profile, this also showed up in mct and printer but not in the printing software. how do i get another profile in the printing software? because i thought that maybe only 3 profiles can be saved, i deleted three profiles, but they are still displayed in the software. should they not be deleted? Sorry for my Bad englisch, but perhaps you can help me.
Great tutorial! One thing is unclear to me: If I don’t add the ICC profile to the paper type, I then also don’t select “printer manages colors”, and instead select the paper type PLUS the ICC profile when I’m printing. Correct?
So Question: if I download the Fotospeed ICC profile for a given paper, say Smooth White, I would not have the print driver use it as I have already soft proofed the image on my monitor and used that ICC profile for viewing and made any color/density adjustments before sending the file to the print software? Am I understanding that correctly?
You will still need to select the profile in the print module as by using the profile in soft proof you are only proofing the image. To make adjustments match you will need to assign the profile to use.
Hi , very helpful. However did you try to delete custom paper from printer. Media configuration tool allows to update driver and send only once new custom paper to the printer. ( you can see them on lcd printer screen). But is it possible to do it opposite. Delete custom paper from printer directly via media configuration tool.
@@FotospeedUK Hi Tim, thanks. However it works only in media configuration tool software. Program gives you the information that papers have been change and the printer has been updated. But. When you look at the lcd screen on the printer front panel, no changes. Set of papers are the same. Old papers and papers order is the same without any changes. I am curious if the changes are not visible on the printer panel and physical they are "inside" printer or they are only in printer driver. Any thoughts.
@@mirosawpacek9024 You must be doing something wrong. I’ve created many custom media types and they will first appear on the printer LCD itself and only once the driver has manually been updated by the user will the new media type be available within the driver. I’ve never made a custom media type which didn’t show up on the printer and then in the driver(s), both the standard and XPS drivers. It’s all extremely easy and straightforward - just follow exactly what the on screen prompts are telling you to do.
All steps were going fine until it came to adding the custom profile to printer. My custom is in the media tool paper category but not on printer to select. Also I don’t have an utility option to update. Any suggestions
I have the latest version and it doesn't have the Custom folder, nor does it offer bubble options for acquiring media information. I just downloaded it from Canon today and made sure to update it.
Anch’io per cinque minuti ho pensato questo. Invece devi andare avanti secondo le istruzioni di questo video e vedrai che dopo alcuni passaggi si crea la cartella Custom!
I thought this for five minutes too. Instead you have to go on according to the instructions in this video and you will see that after a few steps the Custom folder is created!
Great Video, can you do a follow up Video :- using the DATACOLOR SPYDER PRINT tool to make an ICC profile on the Canon Pro 300 with all the settings please with a custom paper
Tim, can you post the link for the Media Configuration Tool? I can't find it for MacOS? Also, as asked by Paul Stuart, does it work with the new ImageProGraf Pro-300?
Hi Terry, took me a while to find the MAC version for some reason. But if you use the link below that will download the Media Config Tool for you. Here is the link: www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/printers/inkjet/other_series/imageprograf_pro-1000.html?type=download&language=en&os=macos%2010.15%20(catalina)#disclaimer
Very helpful. Thanks. To confirm the results of this process, a paper type was added to the menu on the printer and to the Media Type on the printer driver window on the computer, and nothing else. If the ICC profile was added, then that would be selected too. I'm using a PRO-200 and these two items appear where expected.
Hi Al, if you added the profile to the media type you would need to select printer manages colours as the profile would be applied by the custom media type. Tim
Well done. That helped a lot, thank you
Very very helpful and clear - on a topic that is unfortunately not very well covered (even by Canon). Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent video, do you know if there is an Epson version of this for their printers?
Unfortunately, the G650 doesn't support this application. I need to print on 2.5x3.5 size card stock. Any recommendations?
Thanks for this information! Very useful. How do you import this custom paper into the Profesional Print and Layout app? I can't see it in there

I have the same problem and don't know how to deal with this.
Brilliant so useful Tim. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Know what I'll be doing later.
Thanks for watching :) Glad it was useful!
Even I managed to do it, your instructions must have been good!
does this work for canon a3 printers prograf 300 or canon 10
Hi Paul, It works on the Pro-300 but not the Pro10. Tim
Any chance you could do an update version of this for Ventura ? The Utilities section seems to have disappeared ! - so can't find a way to update the Media settings in the Canon Print Layout App.
Within the professional print and layout click on File (top left) and "Setting" from within there you will be able to click update media. Tim

Yes, exactly that! Select the profile in the software.
Thanks Tim, for the video and phone support after!
Hi Claire, no problem at all. Tim

HI there, yes you can use the Configuration tool to remove media types as well as reordering the media types on the printer. Tim

The music in the background is distracting. Sorry!
The video is very informative but the background music is not needed or appreciated
