Great fish! I’ve had a group for around 7 years. I’ve kept many interesting fish, but every time I show my tanks to someone, they always want to know about the Denison Barbs. They look great and they never stop moving.
These are definitely on my list for stocking my 90 gallon for sure! Currently planning on 6 angles, 8 Denison barbs, 10 cardinals, some bristle nose plecos, Cory cats, and possibly a pair of hongsloi apistogramma
@@CichlidBros thank you! I think going this route will keep it from being over stocked 😊 I was going to put my trukana jewels in the 90 gallon but I'm going to find a 75 for them to go into and do a west African themed tank! What's one more tank in the collection right? Lol
Mine are about 7in...I have 3 in my 75 and w the Congo tetra's they school together n I haven't noticed any stressful behavior...they have gotten a green hugh to the top of them as well as they got big...I also have them w a Electric blue Dempsey n a red head topajo...all is happy in their planted home👍
Great Video. I recently moved my six, 5+ inch, Denison barbs from my 48 inch, 75 Gallon tank to my custom 65 inch, 110 Gallon tank. I noticed an immediate increase in their already energetic swimming behavior which took total advantage of the extra 17 inches of width. They're now even more captivating to watch their mesmerizing, non-stop schooling behavior. Their tank mates, a mix of adult male rainbowfish, also have increased their activity...thus confirming your opinion that these barbs are excellent dither fish. One word of caution, however, that you didn't mention is that they are SUPREMELY sensitive to a sudden change in water parameters, ie, temperature, ph, etc. that can occur with a too rapid water change. Over the years, I've stupidly experienced this twice and lost the majority of them within 8 hours while other tank mates showed zero signs of stress. And, yes, your tank is spectacular !!
Troy yes these guys are amazing. I saw these in your tank several months back so my local Petco had a bunch so I bought them all. These fish are fantastic super active I love um.
They are gorgeous but my largest tank is 75 gallons. When I watch how active they are I think they would be happier in a bigger tank. Therefore, I will enjoy watching yours:) Thanks
I have them for years! They get pretty old, and are pretty tough too. One of them is blind but he is over 10 years old and going strong! He feeds on the small granulate food I drop in for the bottom dwellers
By far one of my Favorite fish! I got lucky and got some Gold Roselines 😍Very active! I just commented on your Instagram love these guys! I keep mine with Congo tetras and dwarf rainbows ! Love how they look green from above the water and silver from the side!
Very nice barbs 👍! I just saw these at our local fish 🐟 store here in Singapore yesterday 🇸🇬 I love the other yellow 🟡 and red ♥️ Rosaline barb ..costs about $28 here
Bought 2 of them (3 inches long) for $2 each at Clementi, together with 2 rainbow sharks & 2 albino rainbow sharks (2-2.5 inches long) for $1.50 each 😊 Another type of shark available (don't know the name - gold something) has all off-white colour with a stripe of red-ish pink cost $13. Didn't think it pretty enough for that price.
I have a 135 gallon with a female jack Dempsey.. fire mouth... Sevrum.. blood parrot... Electric blue Acara... Polar blue parrot and a Senegal bichir... For whatever reason I have had issues with keeping Oscar's with them(6 have died or gotten really sick over time)... So I decided to go a different direction with what else goes in with everything... I'm glad I watched this video because I was on the fence with these I didn't know if my Jack Dempsey would eventually eat them.... So now that I have seen this I'm definitely going to add about 10-12 of these... And maybe add a green terror with a few other odd balls like maybe a few angels... But for sure I'm adding these... I was going back and forth between these and giant danios... definitely going this direction now! Once again cichlid bros to the rescue 😂... What do you think about this stock list for my 135?
Just bought 8 of these guys from aquahuna, Im putting them with tetras, calico ranchuus, corydoras, and glass cats. Can't wait. I only have 4 silver dollar adult tetras, they are LARGE tetras and they are pretty timid, so I'm hoping these guys can give them some sense of safety. Large silver dollar fish have given me so many issues because of their timid bahavior, like ripping fins off from darting around rocks in fear, breaking their nose from smacking into the glass at full speed.. Its been rough. Beautiful fish though.
I have a group of 8 denison barbs and there is one in particular that is losing almost all its color. Cycled tank set up for years dont know what it could be.
Should go for Denison barb or rummy nose tetras for my angel fish tank. Tank is 120cm long and I will be getting a group of 6-8 . Which fish swims together closely. Rummy nose or denison barb
I have a small Jack Dempsey, a small Green Terror, and a Firemouth along with some other American Cichlids in a 125. Would these be too aggressive for the Dennison Barb? My Cichlids get a little feisty with each other at times, but I have 3 Silver Dollars that don't get bothered.
Any possibility export those fishes?Denison barb one of the beautiful fish used have many around Srilankan aquarium now not a single aquarium have these to sell...
@@shark7n10They can get over 6 inches and their body get bigger than you would think. I’ve seen a couple full grown. There bit on the slow side when it comes to growing.
I have a 500l tank. I am considering getting 6 to 10 of the denison barbs (they are stunning). I would like to also get 6 bala sharks. I currently have 10 (going to increase to 30) neon tetra, 5 wight mollies and getting 4 yellow mollies. Dose any one have any comment's or suggestions on my choice. I almost forgot I got 1 Golden mojarra
The red stripes on mine comes and goes. I have a group of 7. They swim around and eat. I feed then new life food. Any idea why the stripe goes away from time to time?
What is the single deep yellow guy that you have in this tank? I want to add Denison Barbs but I have a Melanura (about 5-6inches currently) with 2 Severums (medium and small size now), 2 EBA's, and a Geo Winemilleri in my 100 gallon tank. The Melanura has shown some aggressiveness in the past, killing my Geo Hecklii so I'm afraid to add any Denison Barbs until I rehome the Melanura. I hate to do it, he is beautiful, but I can't trust him. ha. And I just recently learned how large he will get.
These are fish I really want to keep, but my biggest tank is a 75g, which is a great sized tank, but I don't think I would put these active schooling swimmers into anything less than a 6ft tank. Even my Colombian Blue/Red tetras, which got some good size to them, were a lot more active when they were smaller, but now that they're around the 3 inch mark, they're less active. In the future, I wouldn't even put them into anything smaller than a 5 ft tank just because of how active they can be. As I've kept fish for longer periods of time, I really have cracked down on myself on size restrictions for tanks/fish, as opposed to just saying "It'll be fine" pushing some boundaries with bigger fish in smaller tanks.
Yep I wholeheartedly agree, I wouldnt put anything over 6in in my 75g. You see plenty of bigger fish recommend for 75g but I don't think those fish would be happy in it.
I wanna buy some but I wanted to start with a smaller school size of maybe 5 in my 75 gal, good idea? Or should I just wait and buy the 7 I want all at once?
Great video Troy. I have a 75-gallon tank that I want to put a few angel fish in with a dwarf flag cichlid, a keyhole cichlid, a festivum, a kribinsis, and maybe a few rams. Do you believe I can still put those 6-7 roseline sharks in with them or would that be too much?
The Discus fish vs. Angel fish please!!! Guidelines on taking care of them as I have a new 75G and can't seem to decide what to choose to place in them.
The difference between them is that Angel fish more beginner friendly. If you are already an experience fish keeper and like the discus more there shouldn't be any problem

Those guys in your tank are really tweeny, when they reach six inches that tank is too small. I would like to get a shoal of them but would prefer if they stayed as small as yours, not so much because my tank is too small but they will look too big compared to the rest of my fish, the balcnce would all be unhinged. I like them because they're hardy and like cool water, always something right. Any mini dension barb strains?

You don't realize how big these fish really get until you see fully grown ones. These guys are also on my big tank bucket list.
I got 5 4-5" ones yesterday at my LFS and after getting them home I should have got smaller ones lol.
I’ve seen 8+ inch specimens in a 10,000 gallon aquarium in Barcelona. But in my own 80 gallon tank, they are max 4-6 inch
These fish are so underrated, great video guys. One of the best schoolers for large communities.
