    Just can't get over how much Jamba responds to attention mode when he hears your voice. He's pretty special. But they're all special. Fun times.

    You have no idea how much I enjoy watching your puppy videos. They hit the lottery with you! I had my Gracie Rose and I so miss her. She was a Tri-color. I’m getting a Black and Tan pup in 3 weeks. I’m going to put all your tips to good use. Thank you for that! 💙🐶💙

    We have loved watching these adorable puppies grow...we're going to miss them so much. We're in Oregon, wishing we were closer-love seeing them. Lost our Basset in December, think this breed would be a perfect fit!

    I love how there’s a puppy in the tunnel while the other two are jumping all over it. They certainly love to tease each other! Those rubber like toys were my dog’s favorite. Now he’s more into plush toys.

    Thank you so much for your informative dialogue as we watch the puppies. I have a playful pandemic Cavalier pup, Ruthy, a ruby, who is 16 months old. I have learned a lot from you since we have both been largely isolated for the last year.

    I have followed your crate training video to a T . Thank you so much it is really helping!! I really hope he stops play biting soon it’s constant I know he’s teething and it takes time but it’s hard to get him to stop. With time I know he’ll get better. We love him so much😍 Thanks again for tips. I’ll keep watching for help

    I’ve been watching these little pups grow up. It’s been awesome.
    Out of curiosity...on the Blenheims I’ve noticed their noses getting gradually darker and filling in over time? Is it to be expected for *most* of the black to come in over time if the nose isn’t completely black when they are a few weeks old?

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому +1

      It usually (but not always) fills in by the time they are 4-5 months old. If it doesn't, it is considered a fault for a show dog.

    When they wake up early in the morning, say at 5 do you take them out on leash or take them one by one

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому

      I have a very securely fenced yard, so I let them all out loose, but I stay out with them (brrr!). If it's around 4-5 AM, they come back in for a nap in the crate. If it's later, I feed them breakfast, and then back in the crate.

  • @bellesmith8925

    Do you brush all your dogs teeth? That must take forever!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому

      I used to brush them all every day, but that's a bit unwieldy with the crew I have now. As a result, they get a dental cleaning from the vet once a year or so - it's pretty expensive, but it's worth it. Dental infections can get into the bloodstream, and cause heart problems.

  • @anayabhuwalka8019
    @anayabhuwalka8019 3 роки тому

    Could you recommend a toothpaste and toothbrush (whether it's a chew toy meant for cleaning teeth) for my 10 week old cavalier king Charles spaniel puppy and whether I start now or later and if later when? And how many times a day if I start now?

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому

      A durable chew toy like the one in the video is good, but there is no substitute for regular dental hygiene. You can buy a dental cleaning kit with an enzymatic digestable toothpaste, small toothbrush, and a nubby rubber tip that fits over your finger. If you use that every day, you should not have to have dental cleanings done by your vet.

    i got my one and a half year old puppy a nubby chew toy per your recommendation and he destroyed it within 10 minutes and chewed off some the nubs. i want to buy him a new one as it is good for his teeth. do you have a brand you recommand?

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому

      I have had great success with Nylabone, but just be careful not to get their consumable products if your dog chews them up quickly. I like the nylon bones - they seem to last forever. They also make chew toys for "aggressive chewers" and for "extreme chewers."

    • @zpaz

      @@chaskat35 thanks! my dog is definitely an extreme chewer!

    I have a 8 week Cavalier how do you train against puppy play biting.

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому +1

      I like to use substitution - when a puppy chews on my finger (or anything else he shouldn't chew), I slip a toy he likes in place, and give him praise when he takes it.

  • @soldierswag1262
    @soldierswag1262 3 роки тому

    Wow my cav puppy is 8 week old and much bigger and has a thinner face. How is that possible? 😅

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому

      Any puppy will inherit the traits of its parents. We selected a stud dog that has qualities that complement and improve the qualities of the mother. This is what good breeders do. Cavaliers should not be overly large (13-18 pounds as a full-grown adult), and should have enough fill to give the face a pleasant, full look. That's why we always advise people to spend more time selecting a good breeder than picking out a puppy.

  • @SuFFo
    @SuFFo 3 роки тому

    What to do when your pup barks when in crate? I live in a condo and can't stand it - really don't want to take him out and have him sleep in bed with me - don't want to reinforce this.

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 роки тому +2

      It depends on the circumstances. If it's a one-time thing, you have to determine if he needs to go out. If it's been a while, take him out, and then bring him back to the crate and give him praise and a small treat. If he just peed and pooped, you need to use a little tough love - a loud bang on the crate and a sharp "Quiet!" often does it.
      If it's habitual, you have to start over conditioning him to the crate. Feed him his meals in the crate, and give him a small treat every time he goes in, to give positive reinforcement and make him feel the crate is his safe place. This will take time, but it will last a lifetime.

    • @SuFFo
      @SuFFo 3 роки тому +1

      @@chaskat35 Thank you! It did happen again this morning but he settled and slept. Woke up again and we had a nice play session and then I fed treats and his meal in the crate and he didn't have issues going in there when I put him in there, wanna work towards him going in there on his own! I think maybe cause he just more tired out this time. I hope he doesn't cry tonight in the crate, going to get noisy neighbor complaints :( But will heed your advice should it happen! Appreciate it!!
