[한영숙류 승무]
국가무형문화재로 지정되어 있는 승무는 그 정신과 구성으로 볼 때, 우리 민족의 역사적 몸짓을 바탕으로 그 골격이 세워졌다고 볼 수 있다. 오래 전부터 민간에서 추어지던 승무는 조선 말 한성준 선생에 의해 독자적인 춤으로 정립되었고, 한국의 대표적 민속춤으로 인정받고 있다. 승무의 ‘승’은 넓은 의미로 나 자신을 포함한 ‘온 중생’이라는 점에서, 결국 대승의 세계를 염원하는 ‘우리 모두의 춤’이 된다.

I've never really been involved in dance in my whole life until this class. Dr. Kim did a great job expressing the dance through movements. The calming movements made me really relaxed watching the video and the outfit with the extra longs sleeves also add another variation of the dance.

I really enjoyed learning about this dance. I had never heard of the Seung Mu until today for this assignment. The dance is such a relaxing and calming vibe with drums in the background that really give the dance its flow.
