I do have one question regarding patching, suppose server goes down after patching so what are all the possible action we can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Before proceeding for the patch definitely they undergo to took the snapshot of the particular server so that if anything went wrong they can restore it with that snapshot.
If you don't know snapshot:- In simple words backup of that entire server
