It's been 51 years. A bygone era. Long time passing. There will never again be a 1973, but only in our memories dreams fantasies for those of us that lived it and still alive to remember it. A much better greater America then. A much different era different time different styles different values different music different country.

I did, too. I love some of these videos that take me back to my youth. Especially the 4 years I spent in the service. I was lucky enough to go to a Bee Gees concert during that time. I believe it was the one not long after their Fever album released.

By the time I get to the third verse, I'm in tears, every time. Not just one, but a hundred yellow ribbons around the tree. And I can see him wanting to look, but being afraid to, and then hearing a stir at first, that quickly grows to loud cheering, and he looks and still can hardly believe it. And then he says he's finally going home. At that moment, he is finally free. He can let go of his past; he realizes his bad choices and terrible mistakes did not cost him the relationship with the person he loves. Even after three years. And on a side note, I was 9 in 1980, and the U.S. hostages were in Iran, and there were yellow ribbons around oak trees all around, in hopes and prayer for the safe return of the hostages. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Germany.. first english lessons in school. I was about 10 years old
We got the choice between two songs to translate them into german.
The one was Sweet - Fox on the run, the other was this one..
Sweet, for me, was way much to "hard" in this time (it changed a bit later ;-) ), so I voted for the yellow ribbon and I am still getting a smile in my face when hearing it. ❤
