I already had the M3 control arms, sub frame bushing and LSD on the wish list. This is next level! Very helpful to see on video and have a list in description to come back to.
Wow, such the transformation the suspension has gone through. If you enjoyed the car before, I can only imagine how radically different it'll feel around corners. I love this build, can't wait to see more.
MillerrMedia unfortunately we did this entire job front and rear in a single weekend, so we really didn’t have time to send it out to be coated but your right, it would have been ideal.
Joseph Rosenbauer I do get that but being the car is going to be down for the winter why not wait till you guys had the time to paint everything while it’s apart, more efficient then doing it twice🤷🏻♀️ just my two cents👌
Love to see the outcome of this man! Congrats and glad Joey could help! Also thanks for having me in the video for 1 second 😂 he does such good work; love the build.
Enjoying all the videos you've been making. The longer length on this one was a welcome change, although I'm sure it adds to the lead time from one video to the next. Keep up the great work, Jake!
I'm about to have my E39 528i front suspension rebuilt this weekend and I'm hyped but you my man must be on cloud 9 with your beauty of a suspension rebuild, great video👍
You're gonna be happy refreshing the front suspension on your E39, probably gonna feel like a new car! Thanks for following along and watching the video.
It's cool. I remember this car from all the NFZ events. I think I talked to you couple times . I was running my red r35 GTR in few previous NFZ events and my blue R8 on the one last year
Fantastic effort. I'm blown away by how much work that was to swap all of that out. Makes me wonder if my 2008 335xi will need any of those parts. I just got into autocross and drag racing last summer and will be hitting it up again this year. Man I love my car. It's such an improvement from the 3 Ford Taurus' I used to own.. Just put in a Spec single-mass lightweight flywheel and clutch last month. Next is the intake, intercooler, and spark plugs.
It was so much work! The video didn't do it justice. It took us 3 full days of work. You'll fall in love with your 335xi, especially after the new intake, intercooler and plugs. Enjoy!
Incredible video. Probably my favorite of all of them. So informative and that parts list with links is pure gold. Although after clicking on most of the links, the cost to do all that plus time and tools is no joke. Very similar to the cost of converting to single turbo. BUT boy oh boy are you going to be able to put that power to the ground now. Really excited to see this car back at the drag strip. The install seemed to be top notch, really enjoyed watching your friend work. Jealous of all the wheel/tire choices at your disposal now!
Thanks Chad! It's definitely similar to the undertaking of a proper single turbo install. I think the car definitely needed all of this for the way I've been using it. I'm glad you're still following along, even if I'm not posting on the forums as much.
Nice I bet you're loving that diff! I installed the same one about a month ago. I kind of regret going with shorter gears on mine but I'm pretty used to it now and it does ok with the stock twins. Totally transforms the car!
I am loving it! Sucks that I haven't really been able to drive it because of the snow. But I'm itching to get it out again this spring. I enjoyed the stock ratio because I do 1/2 mile 170mph+. But shorter gears would be good for shorter tracks.
@@jake_spence heck yeah I bet you're itching to get out and drive it! It totally eliminated that little pause/spin when boost kicks in for me and corner exit speed increased a lot too. I can imagine that in conjunction with solid bushings, holy cow!
i used the cheap ebay heim joint rod end control arms, billet bushings all around with seems legit garage 8.8 kit. oem 328i rear rotors, x1 calipers and a 2mm washer as a shim to center the caliper. all oem and cheap small brake conversion. double adjustable drag shocks and softer coil spring. aside from the 8.8 kit, the rest of the entire rear end was like $700. 3 years later still going strong
Also, I have the bilstein b14 coilovers and they’ve been great so far. With them raised all the way up it lowered my 335is about an inch but if I put them lower it will rub so I kept them all the way up. They feel stiffer than stock yet smoother at the same time.
I like my voghtland coilovers, and I have 20x10.5 no rubbing , good ride and better handling. You can get them for 750 , I think thier the best option at the price.
Thanks for making this video! I've been waiting to see who would make a video showing the rear end poly conversion/upgrade. Please make a follow up video and mention any downsides or increase in nvh! I would really appreciate it as I'm about to order all poly bushings for my rear end and add an m factory LSD
I'm glad you found it helpful! It's been great so far. There isn't much additional NVH, honestly. There is a slight diff whine with the poly bushings, but my car is gutted and with full interior I don't think you'd hear much. No additional vibration. Definitely wouldn't be worried about it being a comfortable street car. You'll love the LSD too!
You need to use rust converter on the rusty suspension parts and paint them to protect them from future corrosion. Bare metal will corrode quickly without protection.
Great video and some great parts going on this build. I want to upgrade to the m3 goodies on my 135 so I’m very interested in how much better it rides now.
It's been great so far! I haven't been able to get out on the track since installing these parts, and I feel like that is where they will shine. If you're still on original suspension and bushings, you will definitely notice a different with new upgraded parts.
Since the car is not stock anymore and you don't care about intrinsic value, you can do what you want. I don't think it will be pleasant on the street but should do well on the track hopefully.
Yeah, this car is meant for the track at this point. I will say it's not that bad on the street, but it's far from comfortable at this point with no interior and race seats.

Saw it all, damn it was long but I finally saw everything involved in great detail. I have a E90 335i LCI which might be different in wheel offsets compared to the non LCI if doing all the M3 arms. You probably could of brought another 135i for the price of this rear end overhaul its crazy how much this stuff costs. Get swaybars if you're tracking it the subframe will need to be dropped a bit.
I wish I would've known that about the rear swaybar. Oh well, I still enjoy the results of these modifications. Maybe I'll add a swaybar in the future. Thanks for watching!
This is a great video. Would it be possible just to replace the rear hub and bearing and keep everything stock back there so I can run 90 wheels in the back? Also I wish you would've painted your subframe.
Sick work....how you liking they vibrating tho? What motor mounts you got. I ripped through 2 different ones after i went solid everything. Now i got solid mounts. Also when you run the slicks i recommend going 0 camber in the back or you will eat up slicks and lose traction.
I haven't really noticed any increased vibration. I have new stock motor mounts. I will keep an eye on everything, but I think since I have poly trans and poly diff mounts, it'll be more forgiving than completely solid. We tried getting camber as close to 0* as possible.
I don't have any holes in the poly ones except for a hole that the bolt goes thru. Are you sure you're not referring to the aluminum subframe bushings?
Can you post a vid on your PCV oil catch can setup. I recently got an aluminum M18 valve cover, and am not sure how to do PCV. There is no videos currently for N54 PCV setups for non stock valve covers.
I have a stock valve cover. I'm running an upgraded PCV valve and a BMS oil catch can. The outlet is venting to atmosphere thru a hose instead of being plumbed back into the intake.
Can you measure from the ground to the the top of the wheel openings? I am trying to figure out how low those springs would make my car. One more thing can you hear the rear end banging around with all the upgraded bushings.
Hi, Jake. I have a 125i, I have a done a 1m oem panel conversion. I am thinking about doing the rear hub conversion that you have done. To bring the wheel in a bit to help with clearance. Do you know if the 3 series hub wheel bearing conversion that you did would fit the 125i axle shafts. I’m not sure if the groves on the axle spindles would marry up with the 3 series hub/wheel bearing.

It'd be the perfect opportunity to upgrade to M3 control arms. That way you don't have to press in and out different bushings to our existing control arms. I have a link to the M3 control arms in the description. Thanks for watching!
Love the car! Question Jake I have a 2011 135i, if I were to do the hub conversion to a 3 series one for better wheel Fitment would I need to change any other stock parts? Basically would I be able to just order the the straight part of the list you provided, I know you did to be able to fit 15inch wheels. My issue is I rub a little bit with in the rear using 18x9.5 wheels.
very nice video, i plan on doing the same soon! already have diff in though. and i am dct. can you tell me what top mounts you used for rear shocks? thanks
New to the channel. Great content. Any idea how the 135i with all these goodies (Especially the M3 arms, rear subframe bushings and LSD added) would compare to an e92 M3 specifically in terms of handling? Considering either modifying a 135i or keeping an e92 M3 relatively stock as a next weekend car/canyon carver.
Did the solid bushing increase the noise in the car? My car "07 E92 335i is my daily. Would like to improve the handling but keep it quite on the inside.
Nope, no additional NVH or noise from the solid rear subframe bushings. The newer F-series BMWs don't even have bushings, they're directly mounted to the chassis of the car. But if you use solid differential bushings, you will feel some vibration and noise.
what do you think about the ford 8,8 slg lsd swap is it better than the M factory I'm about to do the same as your rear end upgrade but I cant decide on the lsd
Yes I believe so. We're both thinking the same thing, lol. Since I swapped to a 335i hub, the rest of the parts should be the same for you. Just check the links in my description to buy the exact parts.
Hey Jake, would this swap work on the 125i. I am looking to buy one and turn it into a track car but am scared of the issues with the n54 I have heard about
Solid rear sub frame mounts!! Now it makes sense why you keep braking, cracking and snapping shit under your car...!!! Race only change out for next race re straighten frame and replace bent axles...!! This is what race car drivers go through!!! N without sponsorship they would never make a friggen dime !!!! That rims forged is 15x10 et45
Links for rear rotors doesn’t work & Need the link to purchase mine, since i hace my 15’s i need to install.
great setup damn
Agreed, it's perfect now IMO!
I’m very jealous, I just started building my 07 335i got it FBO so far but suspension will be a future upgrade. Great video
How long time this take you guys?
Would the 15inch coversion ( calipers and rotors ) work for a 335i ??? Since you basically switched to a 335i hub ? 🤔🤔
its easier to do on a 335. you just need to swap rotors and calipers
Yes I believe so. We're both thinking the same thing, lol. Since I swapped to a 335i hub, the rest of the parts should be the same for you. Just check the links in my description to buy the exact parts.
Can I order these same bushings for my lci e90?
What about the driveshaft
There are a lot of holes in those solid mounts at 0:54 .... ?? The rusts really starting to bight .
Umm...good sir how much did all this cost you ? I don't think i reckon I will get this done anytime soon =(
Hey Jake, would this swap work on the 125i. I am looking to buy one and turn it into a track car but am scared of the issues with the n54 I have heard about
Where did you bought the rear diffuser ?
I got it used, but it's a Rieger diffuser.
You do this for fun tho.... You must have a crazy ass bank roll...
I see you have a single turbo. Now you are putting in a suspension that can handle the power of a single turbo. Good Deal 😉
Cool video✌🏿
Thanks for watching!
So when we gonna see some drag videos without rear end bouncing around? :D
HOPEFULLY THIS SPRING! We will find out together, lol.
i know Joey
Lucky, he's a cool dude!
@@jake_spence hes my brother
My subframe is super rusty it looks awful anyone got some tips to sort this out? It’s a 2008 E87 123d in comparison to your subframe yours looks new and mine has been subject to salted UK winter roads for 12 years!
Dang, I thought mine was bad! I would try to use some POR15, and sand away the rust first.
I’m not really sure how to get the inside of it sanded, perhaps I need to get another subframe and get it sandblasted and treated them do a swap
How you getting those hookups?
Pitching a proposal to different companies on how we can help each other. Partnerships can work both ways, but you have to put yourself out there with proof you can bring them business.
Jake Spence fair enough makes sense,
I made my own aluminum subframe mount "bushings" for my e36. Way better!
Mexican coke and BMW content, I am a simple man.
Now I'm thirsty...
I have also to overhaul my suspension
Well hopefully this video helped inform you of your options, you'll be glad you did it!
