Hello! I wanted to clarify the status of the first story, regarding Cowboy.
- I was invited to a Cowboy test event, as is common with most new tech announcements.
- I spent ±3 hours testing & filming the bike and talking to the company about the updates.
- I was not given any product to keep, was not given any money for the coverage and have not signed any agreement or otherwise received inputs for what I should or should not say in my video. The Cowboy segment therefore officially does not qualify as an ad or sponsorship.
- I do have a clearly declared sponsor (Insta360) and I am contractually obliged to NOT have any other sponsors in my videos other than them. I would risk large fines if I did.
- I have a clearly declared, official sponsor on almost every one of my videos, and have never had an undeclared one.
- It turns out that I do actually really like the bike except its weight, price and proprietary parts, which is what I said in my video.
- After the Cowboy event, while writing the script, I personally asked the Cowboy PR rep if they had any discounts, given that I found the price pretty high.
- They offered to give a code for an extra 150 off, which they also made into an affiliate code. Being an affiliate code, this does mean it also includes a payout for me, if someone makes a purchase.
- Affiliate revenue is not *why* I filmed the Cowboy segment. I was given the code *after* I already filmed.
- Whether UA-camrs say more positive things about products that they can earn affiliate revenue from is a valid question, but that probably goes beyond the scope of this specific segment as almost all reviews, hands/on videos, etc. include affiliate links on UA-cam.
- In the description, where the link is, I clearly flagged the link as an affiliate one from the start.
- Where I admit I should have done better is declaring it as an affiliate one verbally in the video as well. Since I pointed to the link in the description for anyone more interested, I assumed the declaration there was sufficient, but in the future I will make this more clear.
We really dig your videos and often buy stuff based on your honest reviews. Could you maybe start adding an 'ad section' or just give us a heads-up when you're promoting products? It'd help us know what's what. Big thanks for the awesome content - we're totally down to support you, even sit through those full-on ads to keep the channel rolling!
so we can skip them like an asshole
You may have stated at the start of the video that the video was sponsored by insta360 but the sponsored section was integrated into the video as though it was another bit of news or an honest review. Also as you have an affiliate link with cowboy there's an inherent conflict of interest as you would benefit financially if you said the bike was good
Huge fan of the channel, I never miss a video and look forward to each Friday checkout. My opinion, perhaps unpopular, is to edit out this segment in UA-cam Editor, or delete the video and repost. It just doesn't look good and isn't in keeping with your usually high standards.
Regardless, I'll come back. But if I saw similar again, I definitely wouldn't return
Much love man and thanks for the videos ❤
I’ve watched your videos for the better part of 5 years and I have zero issue with that section. If you put it in the description, that’s enough for me. Keep up the good work.
"Apple deploys privacy and security justifications as an elastic shield that can stretch or contract to serve Apple's financial and business interests." The DOJ said it better than I ever could.
"Couldn't have said it better myself" - Remus Lupin
Aren't you supposed to make it clear that there's an ad in the video
Two ads, almost 50% of the video just ads, he definitely overshot in this one.
Tech altar
Maybe he really like those bicycles...the warning about the price was raised various times and the reliance on proprietary parts...not really an ad...more of a review
Yea thats the law well atleast where i live
Yup. I live in berlin and saw him doing shoots of that weird bike too 😂
I don't like ads being passed as news/reviews. Didn't expect him to go there.
Skipped that big time but wasn’t happy either with the tone
SponsorBlock is the way to go. @@mountainslopes
Yeah, I was waiting for him to tell something interesting but he kept going on with the Ad. Took me sometime to realise. I'm on phone rn, but someone should definitely add that section to SponserBlock
I trust the guy. You guys mean the ebike segment, right? Im ok with it, for one!!!
Im not in the market,
But,
I feel, confidently, like the guy is genuinely passionate about this, hence him being more hyped than usual. Did not feel at all like an ad to me, but like someone excited about a new thing. Which he uses himself! So it's VERY understandable that he is excited to share the good feeling!
He was also fair to point out downsides.
Personally I like my human-muscles-only powered bicycles, so as a commenter I believe I am neutral here. I am not interested in e-bikes, I dont even think it's an interesting story so much. BUT, I am most definitely defending the guy, or at the least playing devils advocate to you guys here... I legit think this is still quality content and not overstepping anything! Thats what I think.
@@lasue7244it is actually
The first story is just an Ad. Wasn't expecting that from you!
true
I hope you're on his Patreon or you consistently donate to help him out. Maybe that will give you the right to criticise his sponsored content this harshly
SponsorBlor for safari works best for me (also as chrome extension)
that ads in the news was a cheap shot
everyone roasting you for the bike segment, when its actually cool new tech and u just giving it its flowers haha
For those claiming the first story is an ad, it comes across as other stories he has mentioned before. The X elite sorry comes to mind, stop reading meanings where there aren't.
@basicallyhuman affiliate links don't necessarily mean ads, Linus and some other tech focused UA-camrs might do videos on refurbishing a PSP for example. They might add affiliate links to the video description for deals on items used in the video or an easy way to get it. Of course, they always mention that it's an affiliate link and that they get a small kickback from purchases made with the links
@basicallyhuman hmmmmmm, in that case.....
First story of the week is an advertisement. Nice :)
SponsorBlock works best
So ads are now directly integrated into the friday checkout now ?
They've always been
@@sofiamn_05nope, they used to be a separate clearly announced section at the end. Now it's disguised as a "featured review" right in the middle.
He didn't even disclose it was an ad. It's hidden in the description
If it is a bike when he gave a coupon it doesn't feel like a regular ad , when the insta 360 ad did give some information on the tech
Install sponsor skip or use youtube vanced, solved.
E-bikes are cool I guess. But in sweden, such expensive bikes gets stolen immediatly. That is why most people stick to old junk bikes because they are usually not stolen.
Same here in Montreal 😢
Even garbage bike our stolen
In the us they steal the wheels, and seats
Wasn't sweden one of the safest countries in europe? What happened?
Bruh
So this class of property is leas safe in Sweden than most big Indian and Chinese cities then
huh
2:30 BOOOM ROASTED !!!
The only surprise with the Apple case is how long it take for anyone to recognize a blatantly abusive monopoly as a monopoly at all. Curved edges blind the dumb.
If all you can choose between are blatantly abusive monopolies you might as well go with the one that looks the nicest.
Ok that bike segment was very thin ice there man.
How about the camera one? Even a cheaper move, since he literally presented the story on another video before, just to recycle it now in order to add his coupon.
I like the idea of a house robot assistant, I just don’t know how many decades it will be until the average person could afford one.
considering they will be mostly prototypes for a long time and people will probably have to buy new models to get updates they might not be too expensive from the get go, when they're good enough to only need one for the long-term they would be more expensive I guess.
Could also double as a data collection or policing tool in the end for more value for the manufacturers
The Nvidia virtual robot training will revolutionize the martial arts world. Its tough to find people to spar nowadays, cant wait to get my very own combot
Instead of a car Apple should build a humanoid robot.
I, for one, really appreciated how you went about the cowboy review/add. Much easier to digest.
Friday checkout is my best source of news. A small subtitle that it’s an ad is also fine, no need for a loud announcement. But I hope you become the next king of tech news.
Apple had it coming
The humanoid robots reminds me of what happened in Stray the moment humans left. Anyone who played the game will know what I mean.
7:40 why do tech companies think the terminator movies are tutorials
Friday ads checkout! Been waiting a week for ads, supposedly!
Tesla robot having the best time of his life 😂😂
Excel runs the world!
The Apple case sounds like something that could make a difference but I know the hearing is just gonna be old men asking Cook about Facebook cat videos
Are you chinese? hahhaa
Source for the vulnerability requiring physical access? I only read the 9to5mac article and it didn't mention that
Hey, man! Thank you so much; your content allows me to stay up-to-date on tech-news. Please keep up the good work.
It's cute that he thinks that little ebike is "a tank".
Sponsor blocker blocked the bike section, but funny thing is I actually wanted to see the webcam ad. Only after checking the comments did I go back and watch the bike segment. I can why a lot of people think it's an ad, but I don't mind it. (Doesn't mean it's not borderline though.)
too many in-video ads
Sponsor Skip. Use it.
He needs money too... Just like you and me... Appreciate him
UA-cam Premium. Didn’t see ads and gives you UA-cam Music. Only reason I abandoned Spotify
Sponsorblock ftw.
revanced extended
2:09 - AMD also once had a major security vulnerability that couldn't be patched, and it too required physical access to the processor. AMD already knew about it and later fixed that in their chip design.
CD a you scan documents with the insta360?
It's really disappointing to see you try to pass off an ad as an independent review
Apple watch compatibility with Android would be wonderful
I for one am glad to learn about the bike, even though it is six times more than I can forward. Perhaps you could include alternatives to make this segment more news-like?
I am also grateful to be reminded that Insta360 sells tripods. Until now my Link has been perched precariously atop my thin monitor.
Cowboy just pulled an Apple and invented the great and new technology of suspension....
please review the lemmo one mk2 ebike. i just recently discovered them and thought they are really interesting, mainly bcyou can just remove the battery and use it as a normal bike too. would love to see an in-depth review
bro NVIDIA boutta fkn build the SkyNet before 2030 fr
Ads are great.... I don't mind them at all... not sure why others are complaining.
Leica cutting cost but market it as a good thing?
You'd be lucky to own a cowboy bike for a day in the area I live in.
hey mate. Fenders are basically mud-guards. I guess you ment shock-absorbers or suspension.
C'mon, bring terminator apocalypse already, I want some action.
if Tim Cook were smart he’d settle this suit way before trial; or he’s liable to be dragged into a deposition where he’ll have to answer questions under oath.
excel can handle 2000 parts, a nicely written vba code is more adaptable than a third party excessive cartoon interface.
iCloud is platform agnostic, it's inhouse, AWS, Google and Azure, I guess the AI will be the same.
If you don’t like ads why don’t pay for premium , it doesn’t cost so much
DoJ, welcome to the party.
F1 Formula boss: repeat after me
EXCEL IS NOT A DATABASE
EXCEL IS NOT A DATABASE
Repeat that until it sinks in while I install a DBMS real quick.
Proceeds to install access
What gaming will be there in epic apps stores?
Welcome back 😁
4th comment
I predict Epic will become the Apple of 2050 and get sued by USDJ.
Thanks for the vid
5:00 Wow, that is a lot of money for an e-bike, seems like they are trying to be the Apple of the e-bike market, which can make sense.
It is interesting to see where all the this robotics tech will go. $50k robot to do dishers?
20000 cars parts can be managed in excel or google sheets
6:26 "Apple deploys privacy and security justifications as an elastic shield that can stretch or contract to serve Apple's financial and business interests."
Wow! (It's the last line in the screenshot)
Another to not miss the friday CHeckout!
Epic game store coming to android? But the current Fortnite launcher in android called epic game store. Or it will be a different bigger thing?
Hey, I think you left a little news in between the ads.
I imagine how these "helpful human robots" will be used next. Hint: it is related to a Constitutional right of any US citizen, the thing that they have right to carry.
Do you only review tech that you can get sponsors for now?
Rare USA vs Big Tech W.
Let's hope that something comes of it though, and some random politician that I have no clue about repeals or amends the act meant to stop Apple after getting a paycheque from them.
8:00 what's that in the oven?? 😂😂
Omg there's some news in this Ad! 😂
Here before it blows up!!

been waiting
2nd comment
That Ebike review was at least honest, why is everyone bitching..
Did he just made the first 100% honest add ?
Your webcam sound like surveillance camera
Sneaky ad at the beginning there, any more of that and you can get on your bike 😁
3:38 unfortunate wording there...
The amount of in-video ads in this video is disgusting @The Friday Checkout
I've always liked your channels and work, but be more careful with this.
At the very least, make it clear from where to where, that you have ads.
Thursday checkin
Exactly, an army.
I‘m using Insta360 Link since two years at work and it‘s absolutely amazing. It got stolen one day and the next day we ordered a replacement - worth every penny!
Paid YT premium to get rid of ads. I guess I’m getting them anyway, a whopping almost 50% of the video.
don't get the hype around humanoid robots except for the fact that they look cool and sci-fi. they are only good for spectacle imho. everything that necesitates a humanoid shape, real humans can do a million times better, safer, faster, more precisely. and the specialized tasks that we can't do are done best by special robots that have are engineered for that task.
Groot, grok, blup, bard, mard... I like these clever names.
Thanks!
Glad you like the show!
I really dont think the bike segment was an ad. The dude is passionate about ebikes and non-car transport so i think he got excited and wanted to try the bike.
He clarified that he wasnt paid or offered anything. 😊
So glad about it i hope they can make it break up the company or at least fix so those things they discovered
Cool bike, but that's an ad.
I dont mind a cowboy ad, please dont worry! They make awesome bikes so i can imagine youre excited about this one!
Please update your videos aspect ratio
I think the US suing Apple is the bigger story here. This is Microsoft 2.0.
40% of this video is sponsor.
naaaaah Apple is about to get destroyed on their own territory 💀💀
The filing on this case by the US DoJ was embarrassingly bad. One of the examples they used was the Amazon Fire phone from 2014. Here was the government argument;
Apple makes really good phones.
Amazon made a crap phone.
Amazon can't compete with Apple and it's somehow Apple's fault?
That's the way competition is supposed to work. Maybe the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Apple will win this case very easily over the government.
Insta360 products are amazing and deserve an honnest review. But despite the fact the sponsor was advised earlier in the video the seamless blending of an ad is sneaky and a good way to stop me watching your videos. It puts you right there in trash or low quality youtuber who sold their soul. Brands should appreciate that your viewers trust you and that is why it's a good idea to advertise with you. That kind of shtick decreases your value to them actually so it's counter productive:
As someone who what daily?
the writing on this show is just top notch
Thanks for the 6 minute, 36 second video 😉
Where the hell is your "includes paid promotion" banner? You literally disguised a sponsorship as a personal choice...
Install sponsor skip or use youtube vanced, solved.
5:30 You framed US suing Apple as a bad thing, when clearly it's one of the most anti-competitive tech companies in the world (printer manufacturers aside). Their ecosystem is so closed off developers can't even run an emulator to develop for their OS without a mac PC, nor create a VM. They have the absolute worst publishing requirements on their app store, while also actively trying to block anyone else from creating their own. Their devices are least repairable. Their ads the most deceptive. I could go on for hours...
I really don't like the whole tech becoming blackbox even to the developers of the software (I mean AI obviously)
Thank you for the great job you all do… And yeah E-bikes rule!!! Finally, news i actually care about…
Skynet powered by nvidia
i hate the ad but he’s been riding a cowboy every day? sounds kinda…
Those complaining about the ads are either dumb or don't have anything important to do in life.
