Grand shots of this part of trail...the light reflected off that one canyon wall was award winning.please tdke care.Glad the muses sprinkle a few good days in for you
Having flashbacks of Mule Deer, Big Horn, and Goat razorhead hunts in Western WA State... In my youth-ish days. Stayed out of the woods during gun season, too many NUBS glassing with scopes. Go easy Matt, go easy!
I just recommended to a girl that did a flip-flop on the AT that she consider getting something to wear in blaze orange because hunting season would be starting.
Beautiful! The skunk reminded me of one of the Boston Harbor Islands, which (at least 20 years ago) boasted a crew of "tame" skunks that liked to interact with hikers. I was never brave enough to introduce myself.
The marble mined in Marble Colorado is some of if not the best grade marble in the good ol USA! Was used for the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier and the Lincoln Memorial!
Another beautifull one , just some crappy weather sadly . Glad your foot is doing better and you continue to find places to camp. Keep on trekking and thanks for all the videowork.
Regarding your comment about the mental aspect being the most important towards the end, I agree. On my first walk across America, once I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge I remember thinking almost seriously that I was close enough to the end that I could just quit.
I did hike the Black Hills this spring and I confirm that there's a lot of wildlife there. I saw many herds of elk, of course, but also mule deers, wild donkeys, some horses, and even a few pronghorns. What I didn't see is people. I know there were people in front and to my back from Far Out comments, but outside of Winston I saw no one.
Nice camp on Rampart Range last night, you would have enjoyed the peace and quiet that I enjoyed. Off to the Crags for a hammock camp tomorrow. It will be super peaceful as long as the local moose or bear doesn’t get tangled up in my hammock with me in it
wow the scenery is both beautiful nd scarey, do people actually live there all year long? wonder how much snowthey get. at least your not alone up there.
I don't understand why a professional hiker such as yourself hasn't seen a podiatrist and gotten custom inserts for your shoes. You've had foot problems on every single hike. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
I can answer this one -- as a fellow long distance hiker, any time you go to a doc for something like that they basically just tell you to stop hiking. Thru-hiking involves pain for most of us, your body just doesn't want to walk that much, it's a case study in repetitive stress. I've seen podiatrists, orthopedists, physical therapists, etc etc, I have custom molded insoles, I still have pain on every long hike. I don't "do the same thing over and over and expect a different result." It's just going to hurt, I don't expect it not to hurt. You have to manage your miles and pack weight and shoe replacement schedule to do what you can to mitigate those aches and pains.
Hey, I was able to text you through outer space. I was wondering what you were up to. You need to let me know if I should keep them super short to avoid costs to you.
Wow, the most iconic picture of Colorado you can get in the right season. I've never been there. I'm jealous.

Man, this is some gorgeous landscape. Glad you're able to keep it up! As a fellow IT nerd and coffee lover I'm extra invested in your journey.
That canyon with the waterfalls is the stuff my hiking dreams are made off!

You do find some interesting wiggles and squiggles to hike
Ok, after watching your videos in Colorado I have started bugging my husband about going there to hike again. It has been 14 years.

That was a beautiful and interesting area. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

God, that’s especially pretty country today. I would like to go there.
I have forgotten how beautiful that neck if the woods is!
Thanks, safe journeys. ✌🏻👊🏼

lovely country
The Masochist Scale of Gnarl? We'll need a graphic...
😎✌
I did that very trail the motorcycle guys were doing maybe late 90's. It was a rough SOB.
Lots of literal names out there...Marble, Crystal River, Redstone...
wow the scenery is both beautiful nd scarey, do people actually live there all year long? wonder how much snowthey get. at least your not alone up there.
There is an excellent barbecue restaurant in Marble.
Lol, never mind, I didn't realize you would make it to Marble this video. And you found it anyway.
Do you ever go to a foot doctor on your off time?
I did a few years back. It didn’t go well.
Do you have waterproof gloves or shells?
I carry showa termes gloves
I hope that side-by-side with MTBs on the back abides by the rule that you ride for twice as long as you drive.
I apologize on behalf of Colorado for the lousy cold rain. That totally just sucks.
Considering I’m currently back in 90+ degree bone dry weather I’ve been looking back at the rain somewhat fondly…
Lack of coffee is “ grounds” to call in SAR team. If that is not an emergency nothing is.

Day 157. Of you had time you can do a quick soak in Penny Hot Springs. Be mindful of the crazy meth heads that frequent the springs.
Just don't pocket dial on those satellite texts...$$$

Last text I got from you came in the normal way. The iPhone sat texting is free. It’s just the inreach ones that cost an arm and a leg
I’ve had it with you’ll.. unsubscribed who takes care off you day to day.. hikers..
