I’m stoked about the oil pastels for next week! Enjoyed the inktense livestream, just got the blocks but have had the pencils for a few years! Thanks as always!
Inktense is ink. Wich is usually not lightfast. I would only use inktense over watercolor if I messedup on contrast; or on a card were I am not worried on light fast but if I use inktense AND watercolor together I would use it as an Underpainting. Colors in that case usually bark sepia or payns grey.
Instead of pencil on top of Inktense, I use the Faber Castell Pitt Pens to glaze and correct where needed. This also seem to help to activate the particles from the Inktense pencils more.
Not sure if you have been asked this a million times. I am rather curious though after watching this live stream. How do you determine if a beginner art student will become amazing? Is there something in particular or overall feel from their current work? I loved the stream! ❤
Partly just experience. I mean when you've worked with hundreds of students over the years you can usually tell by looking at where they've started and even better if you can see some of their old work to see if they're progressing on their own. More than anything it's the artists' attitude. This is someone who isn't afraid to try something different, which is HUGE when it comes to skill growth. Combine that with the amount of work they've done in just 3 months with such regular posting on instagram, great ideas for content (reference photos and the art studio video etc), IF they keep up, this artist has serious potential. Most new artist people when they get started wouldn't have completed so much and explored so many different styles and mediums already.
