    Nice to see someone finally post something a little more useful than just the old, "Turn down your pressure and make your paint about the same consistency as milk". Great video, thanks!

    Dude, you explained setup based off pressure very well and more easily understandable, because you showed your change and the effect on common surfaces back to back.
    I am just starting out and have Zero experience but have painted with other setups before. This is a killer reference and I like the fact that you explain how it depends on the paint and what you are trying to do with your gun and also gun setup changes where your setup should be. I also like that you made it not so set in stone, this is how it has to be. But rather feel it out, test it, set it up to your particular application but here is what you should look for and what to expect with different settings/paint.
    Thank you very much and keep it up man! Love your work!

    Nice. You went through the basics and you didn't complicate it when you turned up or down the air pressure. Also how to use the reducer. I've been working on the understanding my airbrush. This video is a big help.

    Very Helpful Mike. As a newbie I have already run into trouble with the consistency of the paints and the porosity of the substrates. There is more to setting up the gun for use than I realized. I need to get this sorted out before I even dream of touching up the small rock chips on my '57 chevy!

    Hey thanks a lot...My first time using an airbrush and I want to paint a RC Body Shell. I didn't know why or what to do because when I sprayed the paint on it splattered and pushed the paint around. I thought that I thinned it too much and basically was stuck. Watching your video taught me about whats going on. I am going to thin the paint some more and lower the PSI. Thanks again I let you know how it worked

    This was so helpful. I’m just starting with the airbrush. I do have a question though: when it comes to the canvas, did you prime/gesso it? I’ve learned the hard way that even if the canvas manufacturers say they’re ready to use, they actually have a thin film of oil on them so if painting with acrylic the paint will not stick to the canvas.

    Hey Mike - Great video, I've just taken delivery of my first kit which has a compressor and tank. When limiting the pressure gauge to 30 is it supposed to work by continuously releasing air or am I doing something wrong? Your one doesn't seem to do that - The instructions that come with it don't mention the pressure gauge at all so I thought I'd ask... You have a Sub! :) All the best mate.

    Hey. I've got an VEDA W-130A airbrush
    Anyway, i've got this big problem since i've bought this. Even if i loosen the "chuck" all the way down, my trigger has a dead-zone at the full back position and won't pull the needle back completely. For example; if i pull the trigger back by hand ~%80-85, there's still a little null zone that trigger wont pull further; and i can fully open the nozzle by pulling the needle with my hand; so that it open the paint hole %100 i guess. It's actually irritating, because even if properly thinned, M.Color's wont spray very well with the full trigger, but if i pull back by hand fully (or just unscrew the needle and pull it all the way back) it sprays flawlessly..
    What should i do for that ?
    Note that, i'm using 0.2mm needle/nozzle with the default 0.3 needle and nozzle caps.?
    Here's a video of me, trying to explain the situation..

    I bought a TC20T Compressor with Tank and a harbor freight deluxe airbrush and a master g233 airbrush and still I'm having trouble with certain Wicked and Faskolor paints,I just got into it to paint my RC bodies and I'm not trying to go crazy just pretty much simple two and three tone paint jobs well I just ordered the exact same airbrush you have in your hand(Iwata HP-CS) ,what air pressure do you recommended for Faskolor & Wicked paints without having to reduce? I've tried the 4012 reducer and got some Faskolor gold to shoot but not so much the Wicked (White). And if you don't mind me asking what compressor are you using? By the way thanks so much for this video!!!

    I have a bad issue with splatter. The tip clogs so easy and I keep having to pull the tip apart to unclog it. I keep thinning the paint but it just splatters. I hardly ever get a fine mist. I'm using a 3mm tip. I usually set my psi around 25 lbs. I'm still new to airbrushing and cant quite figure out the magic combination. Any suggestions?

    • @MikesBrush
      @MikesBrush  10 років тому

      Yes it should work just fine for createx colors.

    • @TroyBest
      @TroyBest 10 років тому

      yes it does, but you can also use ammonia free "windex" or another off brand. or simply just use distilled water. make sure its ammonia free, ammonia will eventually eat the chrome plating off your airbrush.

    Hey mike off the hook video man...I recently just started airbrushing, and I wanted to ask you what is the reducer for cause I've been using it too clean my airbrush with the cleaner too.... But I'm starting to think I've been making a mistake by doing this...help me bro .

    • @MikesBrush
      @MikesBrush  9 років тому

      Alberto Cuevas Jr. The reducer does what it says. It reduces down the paint to make it thinner. Probably not the best idea to run it through for cleaning. Soapy water does the trick if you are using Createx.

    • @JR-mo1iz
      @JR-mo1iz 9 років тому

      Ok thank you, so when you are using the term thinner, does that mean that I still complete what ever I'm working on with that thinner flowing through my A.B ?... Like it turns dark blue into light blue ? I mean what is the benefit of having the paint thinner ...I'm a straight noob bro lol.. Please help. And what's createx? Is that a brand..cause I am using what came with the whole kit , U.S AIR SUPPLY airbrush colors opaque. I guess but it came with one reducer and one cleaner.

    Hi i am painting RC bodies and use alot of candy clolours ie; autoair paint. i find it turns out grainy, like it looks like sand in the paint after i spray a few coats. Is this from to high psi and not enough reducer?.... Please help!!!

    • @MikesBrush
      @MikesBrush  10 років тому

      sounds like your paint is to thick or you might be getting dry tip which is causing the paint to splatter as it sprays. Reduce it down. About 35-45 psi should be more than enough pressure if you have reduced the paint right.

    • @TroyBest
      @TroyBest 10 років тому

      With Candy paint there is many different reasons why you could get the dry sand feel / look, but the biggest one Is dry shooting, its drying before its hitting the body, so try to get a little closer and keep it "wet" lower your air pressure. as long as its flowing threw your airbrush its prob thinned enough. its more the technic your failing at then the reduction of the paint.unless your using a fast flash reducer. reduce with the proper timed reducer Autoair makes a few reducers try their 4010 medium if that don't work try "real" auto candys like HoK with a their reducer. or go real cheap and use the candies that are at the autostore, duplicator candies work just fine in the airbrush world and they are cheap 25$ a quart.and already pre reduced.

      Chantell DivaDoll I have 3 of those airbrushes, and I love them for the price. One of them had the same issue. That airbrush has a "flow control" for consistent line work. If the very back of it is fully tightened, the needle will not move out of the tip. You have to back the flow control off by turning the back of it counter clockwise. This will allow the needle to move back and paint to flow out the tip.

    Wow Mike, you have a lot of people who appreciate your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us newbies. I am going to apply what you have shown us but I think my problem may be is that I am using cheap acrylic paint to learn with. My goal is to do face painting and t-shirts. BTW I bookmarked your website, personally I liked the look and layout of your site before going to the updated. I started building my girlfriends face painting site PaintYourFaceReno.com. If you look at it I used the boxed layout with some colors in the background, your would look bad ass with some of your custom airbrush work in the background. I tried to match the logo I created in Adobe Illustrator.
