Tonya Lipczynski I totally agree. There’s lots of videos that describe what the brush is but never really used and talked through all of it and shown the different techniques of one single brush. It’s the most informative video I’ve watched in a while!
YES!!!! This is why I started watching UA-cam years ago when I had no idea how to do makeup, but I knew I loved it. UA-cam is supposed to be a place to LEARN. Now UA-cam is all about doing a quick 10 min video... like what? How on earth am I going to be able to see exactly what people do when they edit that all out? Thank you for taking the time to explain to us and TEACH us exactly what you're doing. "I learned something cool today"... thank you, Sam!
First saw the title and I was like damn she's really trying to hit me where it hurts but now I'm like 2 seconds into the video and I realized I have no fucking clue what I'm doing. Fucked me up again Sam.
This video was amazing! I wish more people would be this informative. So many "beauty gurus" just push product these days and call it a tutorial but they aren't really teaching anything useful anymore. Please keep doing these types of videos they help so much. Thanks Sam😊
You're the smartest beauty guru on UA-cam. You actually give REAL opinions and USEFUL information. I thank you. And I hope your channel continues to grow cause you're the shit.
Finally, an instructional video that is not full of copycat useless "tips"!! This is what UA-cam used to be years ago when I started watching, before it became what it is now. Brilliant! Thanks, xoxo and love from Nashville !
Samantha can you bring in an asian friend and show us how you do their makeup using your style and education on brushes ? I actually learn so much from you but it is so hard to apply on myself cause of my asian features
a helpful youtuber who doesn't just push a particular brand down our throats!!! you and jamie are the big sisters i never had who teach me how to do my makeup! xoxo
You deserve so many more followers. It's so refreshing to watch someone who knows their shit and can give us informative, no bullshit tutorials. Love it! 💖
omg you are amazing. I've learned more in these 20 min than the wasted year I've spent following too many other 'beauty gurus'. thanks so much for the tips!
SUCH a vast vocabulary and you are just such a good teacher. Always explaining why you do things the way you do, but not going too far off; overexplaining
So less than 2 minutes in my husband was like "did she forget about the part where she was already smokin hot without makeup?!" Lmao bless his heart. I said "yes she's gorgeous, and shes teaching us things..."
sam thank you SO MUCH for this video! these brush tips would be something i'd usually dismiss in other videos because i figured i knew them from hearing them a bunch of times, but your video really helped me recognize what i could be improving on with my makeup application! (especially for my eye shadow/crease work LOL)
Alexis Nardi right?! I feel like if she made one of those makeup tip videos where they do half of the face well and half the face mediocre or "bad" it would actually be informative and helpful- usually the gurus will just give basic tips that everyone knows like "use the right shade" and "blend on your neck"
Jill Marie yes! because she's always telling us more about WHY we are making these mistakes and how to correct them. most people just tell viewers not to do it and that's that
Thank you Sam this video was EXTREMELY helpful and i need more videos like this. Yt is full of hauls and trying out new products which is great but these types of teaching videos are very helpful. Back to basics!
Your comment about the big fluffy blending brushes not always being the best is SO ACCURATE. For the longest time I was like whyyyy aren't these working for me? I just don't have the lid-space for them and have had to improvise with smaller brushes like the ELF Contour Brush.
This video is honestly so helpful! I do wedding makeup and the tip about pointing the brush downwarsbout of their eyes was great! Thank you! Nobody knows everything and this def taught me that haha
WILL THERE BE EDITING ERRORS IN THIS?? Only time will tell. I couldn't watch myself for 30 min bUT HOPEFULLY YOU CAN! I hope this helps you guys and I'll catch you next tiiiiime
RawBeautyKristi did a similar video today and I learned so many things I was doing so wrong from both of you!! Thank you so much for taking the time to go into so much detail, it really really helps!!
Learned more about makeup application in this one video than in the last 5 years of accumulated UA-cam knowledge. You are a brilliant & concise teacher.
I really like this idea, because sometimes people will describe what they're doing but most times its oh im using this brush and this product and thats it
You are a brush magician. Thank you for showing us ways to apply makeup that is wearable and practical but still beautiful. I love how straightforward and genuine you are.
I love how even though you don't work on clients anymore, you have always catered your tips for those who do!! (I'm not an MUA but I just love how considerate you are Sam, it's so great) ❤️❤️❤️
Teach me your ways master Sam. Your skin looks amazing! I love that you don't use filters that we can see what foundation and shadows look like on real skin.
SAM. I love that you don't just go along with whatever is trending. You always stay true to what works for you and not what others tell you works. Thanks for always educating us!! I always learn so much from your videos. You are such an amazing artist. Love you girl ❤️❤️❤️
This is THE most in-depth video I've ever seen on brush techniques. It kind of reminds me of something that's been said a lot, about how good brushes and good technique can help you way more than having super expensive products. You're killing it with all these technique/concept videos, rather than pumping out first impressions an reviews like a lot of other gurus. I love the direction your channel is taking, Sam! 😘
This video was so actually helpful. Been watching the beauty community for years and this feels really old school when it was about sharing information and techniques instead of pedaling products to everyone. Very awesome sam.
This is literally the most helpful makeup video I’ve seen on UA-cam. I been watching beauty guru videos every night for weeks now, trying to learn as much as I can because I work in the beauty industry and I like to be able to answer questions with as much understanding of products as possible. Makeup is such an art and one of the biggest factors in creating a quality piece of art are the brushes. You are so incredibly talented and passionate about sharing what you know- I’m so happy I found your channel!
You would think at 43 I would have figured this all out ages ago. But I just bought brushes and started getting into how to PROPERLY apply makeup. This video was amazingly helpful
You're my favourite beauty youtuber because I love that your tutorials are actually so informative! It's really great that you can pass your extensive knowledge to your viewers. We really appreciate learning from you! X
THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO . You are probably one of the very few people that I watch and come out with more knowledge ! It can be so overwhelming trying to figure out what brushes work with what and how to properly use them so thank you !
Sam you are incredible! This information is G O L D E N!✨ even I picked up some tips man, and I thought I knew the basics or brush usage🤔 just goes to show you can't think your billy big bollocks with the brush knowledge, when there's always something new to learn. Awesome. Hope you're well girl 🌸✨
What I love about your videos is that they're so much more instructional than other Gurus. When you do a tutorial type video, you still pack it full of information and techniques. But videos like this are great because no ices can come in and learn so much, too. Thanks, Sam! P.S. VANCOUVER REPPIN'
I just want to say I watched this while doing my makeup and had THE BEST makeup day of my life, because I was using the right brushes for my eyes finally
I think for anyone watching this, beginners to experts, this was one of the most informative and helpful makeup videos out there. I throughly enjoyed watching, and definitely learned a lot. Love your videos!!
Hands down the most well done video on brushes and the best way to use them when applying makeup. Thank you so much girl. I have so many brushes and didn’t have a clue on what in the heck to do with them. You rock!!!
I have recently been watching so many beauty and makeup youtubers and I have learned more from the first half of this than I have in probably 50 videos. Thank you so much for this 🙏🙏🙏
Appreciate you taking the time to do this video, you're right no one spends the time explaining different ways to apply and the reasoning why. Great video!!!
Thank you for this!!! When I first got into my makeup all the tutorials I watched were like this, they actually taught me something. It feels like now it's so hard to find videos that actually give tips on how to achieve the look aren't just showing me someone doing the look. The details matter!
Okay I've been looking for a really good brush tutorial for days even though I've been doing my makeup up for years. I was just scrolling for 15 min and came across yours and I was like, eh what the hell. When you got to the brows I almost cried because hardly anyone shows the best way for people with little to no brow hair as detailed as you. Thank you so much
Such a huge help. I bought a bunch of brushes and finally got a good arsenal but had no idea how to use them and you made the winged eye liner sooo much easier. Thanks!
So, so informative and helpful! Most videos on youtube focus on products, so it's really helpful to have some like this that demonstrate techniques to use.
New Favorite video of yours!!! I love how you talked about doing makeup on clients and not just yourself - I do makeup for Dior and I'll take alllllll Sam's advice! More please! 😄
I rarely comment but this was such a refreshing video. I learned a lot watching & THIS is what you call skill. By far one of the most genuine youtubers & MUA out there, you're my favorite to watch! 💣🔥💣
Can't tell you how much I appreciate this and the time you took to really go into detail and explain why you did things. Really helped me understand, thank you so much! !!
didn't know i needed this til i watched. thanks sam 💕 ps quality was so nice i could see your contact lenses and little blue stains on your lower lash line, wow. crystal clear ✨
UGH!! This by far has been thee must informative video I've ever watched on UA-cam I now know why my foundation is streaky when using brushes. And I feel a bit more confident applying my makeup. Thanks so much for this.
Sam! This video was awesome! Sometimes I think UA-cam gurus forget that the average joe needs to be educated. This was great! I would totally recommend this to friends who are new to makeup. Such great tips and info! Thank you!!!
I wish I could give this video a gazillion 👍... please continue doing these informative videos! You speak so eloquently and really give a good description of how and why these techniques are used. I absolutely loved watching this and have learned a lot ❤️
Love this, Sam! Thanks so much. I'd love to see more technique based tutorials like this- maybe blown out smokey eyes, skin focus techniques etc. But all with a focus on the technical elements! The detail in this is so useful and really helpful. Thank you!!
The advantage of having just discovered your channel is that I get to binge watch your videos - yay 😁!! Sam, you’re such a great teacher! I’ve learned so much from this. Actually I think the key to getting the most out of the Subculture palette is to use smaller brushes and then you get some beautiful colourful detailed looks... xxx

I have always known that makeup brushes are important tools for a good makeup, but I have never gone more in depth than getting good quality brushes. Nothing any influencer shows us is possible to do WELL without the knowledge you've imparted to us here. I thank you. You are tremendously talented, an excellent instructor, not to mention simply lovely!! God bless!!❤❤❤
Just finished watching: holy smokes Lady, how unbelievably informative this video is!!!! Seriously! I just started watching cosmetics videos about six months ago, super newbie here. G.D. this has been the most informative video I've seen by far. Well done and thank you greatly for taking the time and detail. 😁
sam, you are the bob ross of makeup. i could listen to you talk about brushes for two hours.
elizabeth keys And let's place a nice sharp wing over here. We don't make mistakes, just happy accidents. Lol
Brittany Moody Let's add another wing there, give it a friend. It's nice to have a friend.
This is without a doubt the most helpful and thorough brush video I have ever seen. Thank you so much for this

One of the last gurus that truly teaches technique. You are a treasure
Samantha can you bring in an asian friend and show us how you do their makeup using your style and education on brushes ? I actually learn so much from you but it is so hard to apply on myself cause of my asian features
Thank you so much for posting such an easy and no bull-shit tutorial that I can actually follow and relate to! Bless your heart ❤️
Also I'm realizing I've been doing everything wrong my whole life. This video gave me extra sleep, clear skin, and a bangin bikini bod.
a helpful youtuber who doesn't just push a particular brand down our throats!!! you and jamie are the big sisters i never had who teach me how to do my makeup! xoxo

I've been waiting for someone to upload a video like this since 2004.
Check out Pixiwoos xXx

Your professionalism and yet general awesomeness at being a human is THE BEST. I love you.
The depth you put into these type of videos is SO rewarding

This video was spot on Sam! More actual educational videos will be much apreaciated from us who cannot afford schooling for MUA/MUE. Loved it!

you're like the one beauty guru that actually teaches things well, thank you
Definitely need more videos like this! It’s so refreshing that you mentions technique over brands.
Daaang. I didn't even know I needed this. But, yeah, totally needed this. I also need a smaller blending brush.

Woah a video about brushes that's not trying to sell me morphe?!? Great video sam!
I am here for your UA-cam channel! I love how you always provide content that's knowledgeable and info that I can learn from. ❤
Very helpful thank you from someone who struggles with evenings and for those of us who are new to the brush game. Very informative! Thank you
This was such a cool and helpful video. I think what a lot of gurus skip is how to load product correctly and I'm really glad you included that :)
Thank you for this!!! When I first got into my makeup all the tutorials I watched were like this, they actually taught me something. It feels like now it's so hard to find videos that actually give tips on how to achieve the look aren't just showing me someone doing the look. The details matter!
I loved this video. So kindly informative and not redundant with any any of your past videos! You killed it
Okay I've been looking for a really good brush tutorial for days even though I've been doing my makeup up for years. You're the real MVP, Sam. This was the best.
Love this, Sam! Thanks so much. I'd love to see more technique based tutorials like this- maybe blown out smokey eyes, skin focus techniques etc. But all with a focus on the technical elements! The detail in this is so useful and really helpful. Thank you!!
Love a video that hasn't already been done 50 million times!!! Thanks Sam ❤️❤️❤️
The advantage of having just discovered your channel is that I get to binge watch your videos - yay 😁!! Sam, you’re such a great teacher! I’ve learned so much from this. Had to subscribe after watching this vid. I've never watched another vid that was as in depth with how to properly use brushes. Love it and cant wait to try use the tips new to me!
First tutorial I have found that teaches how to use a brush. Great job. Much appreciated
I have always known that makeup brushes are important tools for a good makeup, but I have never gone more in depth than getting good quality brushes.
I REALLY appreciate this video, really informative and I definitely feel like I can use this to develop my makeup skills. Now that I think about it, I think it's kinda sad that there's not that many videos about makeup brushes as there are makeup tutorials.
So thank you, so much!
Best tutorial ever! Everything you can't find about techniques elsewhere. Thank you so much.
This was literally the most well-explained, beautifully executed, and thoroughly educational video I've EVER WATCHED from any "guru"... you answered questions which I've held onto since I began my own "makeup journey", about 2years ago!! I thoroughly appreciate the no doubt significant time it took you to explain each brush and it's best use, to execute each example, and to edit the whole tutorial.
You are a great teacher, Sam! Even as a makeup artist, I loved watching. Great video!
this video helped so much. I would always think bigger brush= smoky look but it was always muddy. you are spot on. thank you!!!
This is maybe the most useful makeup tutorial I've ever watched. Thank you!!!!
I hope you do more of these, I've been looking for informative videos. I love them, you're a great teacher.
