Ahh it blows my mind when you see an Ace and say it's the perfect card when we don't have one... Or when we're value betting but we don't even have a pair. You're truly on another level. I added fold to cbets to my HUD stats after another video but totally forgot about them until now lol looking at the top row mostly. This will help with the double barreling!!!! Thanks :)
Great video Nathan, I was the one who requested this video so thanks a lot! I've been losing too many stacks by not learning when to slow down so hopefully this will help and get my winrate up into double figures.
Hey BlackRain what are your HUD statistic when you are playing or what should be the HUD statistic of a player that is not a fish and is someone to look out for at a table? Than you!
@114852211450698011218 Hey Nazar, regs will typically play about 15% of their hands in full ring and 20% in 6max. This is the "VPIP" stat. They will raise the large majority of the time that they enter the pot as well. This is the "PFR" stat. They will also be aggressive after the flop most of the time. The "AF" (aggression factor) stat is good for information on that.
I don’t think it’s a bad cbet, but I don’t quite understand his logic from his explanation. After the turn brings an Ace, he says double barrel b/c villain would’ve folded his Aces on the flop cbet. Well if that’s true, what does he think villain called the cbet with? Pairs? Maybe straight draws? If he has a pair of Kings I don’t imagine he’s folding to turn cbet despite the Ace coming out. So according to this logic, the only thing he folds to this turn cbet is a pair of 7s or pair of 6s (or pocket pairs), and he might not even fold those. So I’m not sure I agree with the double barrel, cuz if he still has Qx in his range he certainly still has Ax.
@@blakefredrickson6506 Easy, if someone folds A LOT (60%+) in a particular street, if he/she doesn't fold you are almost always sure that he/she got nuts, so you can check/fold the other streets and not losing more money.
Thanks Nathan, great video as usual. What is a good hand sample for this HUD to be accurate? I mean how many hands are required for these stats so you can trust the numbers. I hope I explained well myself.
Wilmar A. López A. Hey Wilmar, it really depends on the particular stat. The main three VPIP, PFR and AF converge close to their true values very quickly though, 20 hands or so.
BlackRain79Poker Thanks Nathan for your answer, do you thinks this article (How to Optimize Your HUD for Today's Micro Stakes Cash Games) in your blog is still valid nowadays?
Hey Nathan I am a returning player that used to loose a lot before black friday. I started playing again on bovada about a 2 weeks ago and have been steadily building a roll since i started again. Do you think you could do a video on when not to double barrel and maybe a video on playing without a hud. I have been doing pretty good by just playing a single table and watching each player through every hand even when I am not involved in the hand. Your vids have helped even though I am playing hudless. Thanks.
Hey Nathan! Thanks for another great video. I've got a question about the second-to-last hand. Don't we have a showdown value with our 88? Villain won't fold an ace once he has it. We could bet small for thin value on the river or just check behind. By firing second barrel we actually turn our hand into a bluff, don't we?
+Ильдар Гатауллин I agree. I really dont like that turn bet. Not only will Villain obviously never fold an ace. We can not be sure either, that he will fold something like J9 or TT, because after all its still 2. pair. So I think that bet only loses us more, when we are behind, and win us nothing extra, when we are ahead. It would be a fine bet to make with QJ. But not with a decent pair like 88.
BlackRain79Poker These videos are a huge help. How to play against tougher players would be helpful too. The other TAGs are the ones I have a hard time with.
What about the times where someone is trapping you. This happens all the time thats why in micros its prefered to play a lot more passive and get it in with fish with your AA AK KK etc
Mitchell Bulmer Typically if they are trapping you then they will raise you on the turn or the river. You should almost always fold in these spots versus most players at the micros even if you have top pair.
Hey ledoyle sorry for the late reply :) Turn CBet refers to a continuation bet (raise preflop, cbet flop and cbet turn). Turn Bet refers simply to any old bet on the turn from anyone. Hope this helps.
One thing I don't understand, from the hand where you have 88, is that the villain's FFCB is only 29% so shouldn't an ace be in his range? Thus, when the ace came up on the turn isn't there a good chance he had one? You explained in the hand before this that villain's FFCB is high so there is a good chance he doesn't have an ace, from which I get the impression that he either has a pair with the board or a pocket pair or a draw.
I actually don't like that turn bet either. Our 88 has showdown equity vs some draws any 6 or 2. As you mentioned too that ace hits a big portion of his floating range so when he does call our hand loses a lot of value vs his range. He pretty much turned his hand into a bluff with that 2barrel. I'd rather check the turn to capitalize on some equity with weaker pairs.
if our 88 has "showdown equity" v.s a 6,2 or draws, then why would you not bet the turn for value? your logic is contradictory. you say that an ace is in a BIG portion of his floating range, so you are basically capping his range when infact his range is wider than that. if you are always putting your opponent on an ace there, your basically opening the door for your opponent to easily exploit you by betting the turn when he detects weakness when you check. If opponent calls the turn and then you can assume he has an ace, there are quite a few rivers that can complete our bluffing range so we can rep a big hand and move him off an ace with a third barrell. i'm not saying it always works, but is massive + EV when it does.
Calling stations are a type of weaker players, the passive ones. It's easy to find out what they call with at the price you decide to pay for that info, and when they raise. (Some only 3oak +, some every hit, some only on the river when they maintain their hand. Up to you to find out what their limit is. Is it a pair, top pair, two pair? Does he call with every draw or not? ... ... And then there are the aggressive weak players, who overbet/underbet, don't see draws, think their AK that hits a pair of aces if always the best possible holding, ... And then there are the random weak players who try to adapt and copy every player they lost a hand from. Just lost from tight, they tighten up. If they just lost a hand from a good pocket pair 2's that hit a set or full house, they think their next babypair will make them king of the table, and the guy who just lost against an overcard-openended-straigh flush draw goes all in with his next undercard-inside straight draw without flush draw because... that was what the other guy did, wasn't it? (Answer: No, because that guy did it from the button after multiple people called the 50+vpip donk that has no idea what position is and such. )

In the first hand why is K76 a good flop for 55? There are three over cards and he could have a king in his range.

Hmm, I don't have one, maybe in the future tho, good idea!

if he has 6 or 2 88 wouldnt be betting for value since its unlikely his weak 1 pairs will call on an ace turn
Guessing its alot easier when u have the additional software to read from. Looking for one that i can use here in NJ.
+prescott329 If they don't allow HUDs then nobody else can use them either. But if they do allow them, you should use one imo.
thanks for the tips but 3:29 i thought weaker players are calling stations?
