Euro interior. Cloth seats. Crank windows. Factory manual transmission. Awesome color, and the best condition W123 I've seen in years. I love it. Makes my 360,000 mile daily driver 300D look like a junker.
Precious! Well maintained, will outlast you.. purrs like a kitten. I have a 240D with 600,000 kms. I've seen cars quarter of her age going to wrecking yards. Please look after her!
That is beautiful, great colour/trim option. I have a 1981 w123 200 4 speed manual I bought off the German Embassy in New Zealand in 1989 . This was my fist Mercedes and I just cant bear to part with it. They are an incredibly strong well built vehicle.
Man that is CLEAN. I recently traded a bottle of wine with a lawyer for a 1992 190e. The car was daily driven for 28 years. I’ve spent 6 months detailing and it’s beginning to come back to life. It won’t be as clean as that but I’ll have a great looking ‘driver’. My one has 192,000 miles.
God I love that sound. Its music to me. What a gem you got. Very honest cars, with lot of dignity. I have 6 of them. Welcome and join the club. Thanks for sharing.
I always wanted a w123 so I bought one in 2002 a1984 230E in gold with alloys. I only kept it for a couple of years and then swopped for a W124, but I'd scratched the itch. I think these are the best made car ever built. The car that will run a million miles with care . Just keep driving it 👍👍👍👍
This piece of meat is just perfect. Love love love it and envy you. This is one of the colors I’ve always wanted in Euro spec. And it’s a stick! Never saw a turbodiesel with a stick none the less in Calfironia.. Let’s go on a ride together! I doubt my 240d will keep up!!!
Interesting. I'm almost positive you can in any state in the USA. I'm in California and it is no problem at all. Any diesel cars/truck 1997 and older don't have to go in to get emissions test either (California). I also find it interesting that in other parts of the world (and some states here) your vehicle needs a full inspection to drive it legally. This is not the case in California. In theory you could drive a car with holes everywhere from rust with no brakes and be able to legally register and drive it.
@@SunderlandMorrow Interesting also :-) It's all about clean air and the environment.... Maybe they are lying to us and it's all about the money (selling new cars) In Europe some manufacturers will stop making diesel end petrol cars in a couple of years. (They will go full electric, which is not the future, hydrogen is...) Oh, by the way, i got my driver license with a Mercedes: 240D 3.0 from 1974, same engine as yours, with 4 speed shifter at the steering wheel.
love your w123, I've had 2 myself many years back, a very early 1976 200 petrol and an 1981 240D both second hand from the first owners, both great cars I especially liked the 240D until it got written off! Just curious about your dash, did the original owner have it converted to miles when she imported it to the US from Germany ? perhaps together with the ac system at Mercedes dealership?
I believe when the car was shipped from Germany to California and federalized, the odometer and speedometer must have been swapped out for mph and miles. During the federalization process, as far as I know, the car needs to comply to USA standards. The bumpers usually have to be changed to USA, headlights, tail lights, speedometer/odometer etc. and then you are allowed to legally drive the car. Once again , as far as I know, it is a process done by importing companies or the "Grey market" from back then. Anyways, the lady was originally from Germany and I could discern that she wanted to keep her car just as it came. Usually they swap the headlights out for the sealed beam USA ones, which they did, but when I bought the car it had the Euro lights in and the USA ones were in the trunk (brand new mind you, as in she had the USA lights taken off and Euro lights put back on as soon as she got the car in California) That being said I don't think swapping the odometer back to Km and Kmph would have been very feasible for her. I kind of want to contact her and get more info on the car but she seemed very sensitive to the situation of having to get rid of her beloved car of 30+ years. I believe she couldn't drive anymore and that was the reason for selling.
@@SunderlandMorrow The W123 looks so much better for having Euro lights and Bumpers, it's nice that you know the story behind your car, makes it that much more special.
I wish. I bought this car when from the original owner. She was an older German lady who was very gentle with this vehicle. I pulled the engine and transmission last year to reseal everything and clean, so I can take a bit of credit. But the original owner should get the credit for the rest of the car. The story on how I got it is in the description of this video. Thanks for commenting.
Has AC yes, although when the original owner bought the car she bought it without AC. When she shipped the car over from Germany to California she had the AC installed from the Mercedes dealer in 1985. The paint is (Altrot 585) and it is quite similar to English red albeit more of a red than orange and is much less common. Altrot was a special order color and only offered for two years (1983-1984.) Thanks for the comment

Wait what? is it a metaphor or you seriously exchanged a bottle of wine for a w201?
Especially one that's only just run in!

What a gorgeous car. I love my 300cd.
This engine..music to my ears
Mine isn’t quite in that shape... still runs like a sewing machine though.
Can you drive an old diesel in the States? In Belgium old diesels are almost not allowed any more.

This Benz still has 700,000 kms of trouble free engine life!
Am 200E și 200D din 1984. Le folosesc succesiv aproape zilnic. Sunt mașini mai fiabile decât cele noi
Complete time capsule, it's going to be worth MONEY in a few years.
I want to rebuild my W210 to pristine condition one day.
Perfect 👍👍👍
