Instead of soaking in vinegar and water, I use zesty Italian dressing that I have removed the oil from (don’t shake the unopened/new bottle before you open it and you can just squeeze the oil layer out of the bottle) to soak my turtle and squirrels in. It brings a lot of flavor to the party before frying and helps to tenderize the meat.

Bamboo grows like a weed. I had bamboo. Cut down stalks and used for trim inside my house. Carib look. Sand, stain, varnish. Had to pull up the roots. Weed. Love your videos. ❤ I used bamboo for crown molding. Ceiling fan with same color tree leaves blades. 🙂 wish I could attach a picture.

Nice! Try drying the gar heads next time. Might make them tougher and you could 'freeze' the heads into the spacing you want. Fun video!
Just amazes me how you have such a beautiful family. And super well behaved kids. This does not come naturally, it's patience, love and kindness from great parents that makes great kids. Your dad must be so proud of you! Thank God for true believers in this messed up world.
This is why with bamboo, you need to make your cuts just above/behind the notches they have. They tend to break easier when its thinner and up close to them.

You done did it. The gar have an advantage when grabbing frogs. They bite down lol. I had some nasty legs when I was a kid, probably old and gone bad. Can't bring myself to try them again, yet.

You should have put a rubberband at the gars snout and prevent it from closing with that bamboo part pointing out anyways. so it actually can put some tension on the frog when u catch em without them getting away that easy... But nice video, as always 👍🏼

Well now, I think if you stripped the meat off the Gar, (Skeleton), & Sharpen the Tips, Fastened the head more Securely, maybe that would work better! Just an Idea! 😉! 😮 I ❤ 🐸 Legs! Told ya there's a lil meat on front arms! I like them wGarlic Salt dash pepper! You can also marinade them in vinegar for a bit to take out fishy taste, also known to tenderize! That was hilarious I love the multiple references to animated movie songs and loved having your wife in the videos amazing video as always I can't wait for the next one Gar are interesting in that aspect snapping and alligator snapping turtles can also be said the same thing but in reality great eating
So heres the thing about gar. They only eat smaller fish. So they are important to keep overpopulation of panfish and smaller fish in check. But if there is no overpopulation problem then they also need to be kept in check but like a lake with a bluegill overpopulation problem, ya need a few gar in there they help.
Hey Micah! Next time rub some mustard on those frog legs before covering them in that Louisiana batter 👌 vinegar is in mustard and you hardly taste it on the meat after cooked. Great vid!

They are like shrimp. The trick is to cook them FAST! Only 2-3 minutes in the hot oil 😊😊

That was a really great video I like how the gar had worked for a spear partially. And I also like how your wife finally tried frog legs. That was awesome good job for her and man the kids loved the frog legs that is so cool I think that would be neat if you get them out there and get a whole bunch of frogs and have a family catching cook and man your kids are getting big congratulations love you and your family you guys are awesome so great to see the kids so enthused and liking the catching cooks and wanting to try everything you do that is awesome thanks again for another great video God bless you and your family and I think you should try the frog legs with vinegar and water and just see how they taste. Soak your frog legs in butter milk to make them tender and also add a little bit of moisture to them

If you want to catch guard, I have found the best way is to use live toads.
Keep the heads of the frogs, they are great for Catfish bait.

No brother catfish and bass do eat baby gar but once they reach two feet or larger it’s VERY VERY RARE.But smaller no doubt them big predators eat them

You need some mesh or string hair on the hook to grab around the teeth
U got the same machete I use all the time...try using rope for gar....the rope twines get wrapped in there teeth and cant get off...no hook just rope...it works
