Mind truly blown....and my day truly made! I found this video by chance when searching as I do from time to time hoping to find anything about the old Cheadle railway and in particular the sand wagon trains which last used the line because I have vivid memories as a child of age 5 of hanging around in the station watching the train working. On one very special occasion I will never forget, the train driver actually allowed me in the cab whilst the locomotive was moved from one end of the sand wagon train to the other and he even showed me the controls and allowed me push the lever to move the engine!, how thrilled was I at only 5 years old! so that memory was forever firmly etched in my mind (hence I find myself searching Cheadle Railway some 45 years later) Well...amongst the collection of photos at the start showing the sand wagon train photos, I darn near fell out of my chair when at 2 minutes 9 seconds into the video I see a picture showing the then 5 year old me sat on the platform beside the train passing time. It was like the image had literally been plucked from my minds eye and I would say the photo was most likely taken on the very same day that the train driver let me help move the train! I moved to Ireland about 2 years later in 1979 where I have lived ever since and I will be 50 next month July 2023. My mind is well and truly blown, what are the odds of someone taking a photo which you are in and entirely by chance you find it some 45 years later? Cheadle Station was one of the ones built under the supervision of my 2nd cousin 4x removed George James Crosbie Dawson who was Chief Engineer of the North Staffordshire Railway from 1886-1914.

Pretty sure that there was a diagram for a class 104 DMU working, Manchester, potteries loop line, Stoke, Cheadle .
I remember steam at Cheadle Heath when I was three. I got asthma because of all the smoke.
The quality is not that good but an interesting bit of archive footage
Just be thankful any footage exists !
