Different types are also different sizes. My 9 month tegu slept for 3 months after I got her and she's also larger. She is a different type though so would likely have a different size outcome. I have a Argentine BW X Red.
Tegus grow at vastly different speeds. Some will sporadically not brumate either. If one of the brumates their first year or two, it will be dwarfed compared to those that didnt and continually ate and grew during that time. They also shed like a b*
Argentine are bigger than Columbian tegus. I think some people have a Columbian and not realize it. Columbian Tegus are also known not to be as docile as the argentine tegu. @jordanholt5433

It's probably because mine brumated for almost 6 months of that time.

This past year he took off. He is up to 12 pounds now
Usually caused by brumation. They don't grow during that time but it's still perfectly normal.
