New subscriber and new to CNC. I already laser and have an XTool. I just ordered a Foxalien 4040-XE for the main purpose of doing inlays and after watching your video, I’m even more excited for my new CNC machine to arrive soon!!
Your an amazing teacher. I've had my xcarve for a couple months now and I've learned so much already with watching you. I want to learn how to use tiling now so ill be watching your videos on that as well. Thank you Paw Paw.
I did my 1st inlay after watching your tutorial, Relief of a kitten looking upwards. Good fit, sharp points bit disappointing as I used 1mm straight cut rather than V. Several of the sharp pointed inserts were short & small holes needed filling. But inserts snug fit, very p!eased & wife likes her early birthday present.
Great informative video. quick question, what is the reason to carve from the center? secondly, what is the procedure for setting the xy prior to carving? do you just have to be close to the center and just set xy zero before carving?
The toolpaths are generated by the software. If you have the pro version you can control the carving of the fill some what by selecting the direction. As far as the process for setting the x,y the easiest way is to just follow the checklist as it will step you through the process
Hello Paw Paw. I have an x carve and am trying out different applications in easel. I see you using other software that has more options than easel. Use easel because it came with x carve. As it applies to inlays, where are the sessions whereby you are more detail with the carvings you spoke of. Please email me and let me know how to access these sessions. Thank you
I did not do any other inlays on the easel since you can not use the vbits. I was trying to do some work around to get is to work but was not successful. The easel app works well for just creating a pocket for the contrasting material to drop in. You can also use resin to fill the pocket
Hey Paw Paw, do you think you could revisit this tutorial with an updated version as easel has changed so much? Thanks for making such an informative channel.
When you home the machine it goes to machine 0,0 on the x and y axis when you mov the machine to your workpiece usually the bottom left corner and set this as 0,0. This is the work zero position.
Why wouldn't you clamp down the Poplar and use Tabs? I have heard the Glue and Tape Method isn't the most effective, but would like to hear your thoughts.
Just look at my latest video on making the huge sign. Glue and tape method all the way including on section that was 23x27. It works fantastic. No tabs means not cleanup of removing the tabs. Saves time
Larger allowance than 0.003", and might have to sand/trim some thickness off the underside of inset. Likely flip the insert 180° to create v in right axis/plane??
The app works fine for inlays with no detail, but lets see the trick for doing vcarve inlays in easel. The problem lies in not being able to select start and flat depth like vectric and even carbide create ...it can be done but it could be so much easier.
@@PawPawsWorkShop I know it doesn’t work. My argument to inventarles team is that for $20 a month for Pro, Easel is unable to to justify its price point when other software has these features for free. I’m not bashing Easel. It’s great for beginners and for what it offers for “free”....but I (as well as the community) would like some standard features that others are offering for free.
You are correct. I know that they continue to make improvements. It has changed a lot in the last three years that I first purchased my XCarve. I think that if we look back to this time three years from now, we will equally see many changes.

My pleasure. Welcome to my channel.
Inlays? Love it man! I'll be watching! 👀
Awesome!! Thanks very much.
Looks good , nice solid fit without V carving the pocket & cutout
Thanks 👍

Awesome! I'm glad that it works well for you.
PS.i mentioned your YT page to SainSmart group on Facebook as your Easel tutorial videos were z great confidence & knowledge boost for me
Awesome, thank you!
Great content as usual! This is going to be an awesome series!
Thank you very much.
Great Video as always! Can't wait for more of the same. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, I'm working on another one now.
Great video as usual. Will try it with my new 4040-XE tomorrow!
Awesome. Best of success
As always great video 💐❤️🇮🇶
Thank you so much 😀

What are you having trouble with the inlay app?
I am new to CNCs. This is good stuff, but I have a question. I see you move a lot of your material at 0,0 how does that work?
When you home the machine it goes to machine 0,0 on the x and y axis when you mov the machine to your workpiece usually the bottom left corner and set this as 0,0. This is the work zero position.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thanks. That makes sense. Was wondering what the workpiece zero was in Easel. Just getting started.
I have many videos to help you get started. I will also try and answer any questions you have about easel
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank you.

Not sure what the advantage to not using a v carve bit. The fit would be better. Nice video
The inlay generator does not support the vbit. I may test that and see if I can make it work.

That is one of my considerations for trying to make it work.
Great video! Did you ever come up with a hack for vcarve inlays?
Not any easy way to share
Are you still going to do the inlay series
I will be doing some additional videos shortly

Easel inlay generator does not support the v carve. I am attempting to develop a hack to make it work. I do not know if it will work.

👍👍👍👌❤❤❤
Thank you
Aparte de que es un coñazo entender las pulgadas,no me he enterado de nada
That means you already have a good understanding of the basic inlay generator.
