No glaze no bullshit. You will reach 100k subs by the end of the year. You are more knowledgeable than 95% of “reactors” out here. Yes, even the popular ones. I can tell you’re authentic. Keep grinding my guy
Great video! The 40 acres and a mule Kendrick references throughout the album is what each former enslaved person was promised at the end of the Civil war, but were never given
And Kendrick is likely descended from slaves, as his parents moved to the West Coast from Chicago, which was an important hub in the Great Migration. Because former slaves were persecuted and didn't receive reparations, they still existed as an underclass of society with invisible manacles, and Kendrick is one of the very few lucky descendants to have a skill that allowed him to escape from that generational poverty, which gives him the perspective to write such insightful and emotionally intelligent music.
Momma through You Ain't Gotta Lie "takes place in Africa", with him coming back to Compton for a live performance of i. In Mortal Man, he references Nelson Mandela too. Kendrick got a lot of inspiration and understanding by visiting his jail cell while in Africa.
Hope you eventually get to Untitled Unmastered, an album released a year after To Pimp a Butterfly featuring a collection of demos that were made during the recording sessions of TPAB. While it is a compilation album with no underlying theme throughout, it still features amazing songs, some of which are the best in his whole catalogue.
I think it was recorded for Swedish radio but was never broadcast for whatever reason. It was crazy to listen to that for the first time. Zero's face showed that feeling for sure, haha!
So for the song These Walls, you recall how one of Kendrick's friends gets killed at the end of Good Kid Maad City? Well Kendrick was rapping about using his newfound fame to sleep with the murderer's girl while he's in jail and the song is him abusing his powers so that the murderer is hurt having to listen to that song
What I love about this is when you get to the next song “u” it’s him crumbling under the guilt of his sins, and falling apart because he feels like walked away from his morals. After “u” comes Alright, a song about excepting that we’re not perfect: “I'm fucked up, Homie, you fucked up, But if God got us then we gon' be alright” It’s great story telling!
You did soooo good with this album, always go with your gut instinct because it doesn’t steer you wrong! You were picking stuff up left and right that took me several listens to catch
100% When he did King Kunta at Summer Jam, he pointed at Elliot Wilson and said "Elliot-A rapper with a ghostwriter? What the f*** happened?" Drake had publicly moaned about Kendrick to Elliot on stage a year+ prior.
@shrimp_boogaloo yeah I think between Drakes reaction to the control verse and him finding out about the ghostwriters (prolly from fuckin problems by rocky) that’s when he became hip to drakes bs
My favorite album of all time , not just Kendrick , the importance of this album , the meaning , the concept, the production, one could only dream of making a project like this , one for the ages , it will impact a lot of people for generations, I still remember the day it came out 🔥
with regards to tupac interview at the end of the album, kendrick got the interview on tour. i believe from a german interviewer, however, the english recording was never released. he asked the estate and they allowed him to use it in the album
Damn, my chest hurts and my brain gets chills hearing 'u' for the 2000th time. Hey and you do you brother, don't let the comments stress you-no one gets this stuff the first time-there's so much. I first listened to this the day it came out, but only started paying attention to the bass lines about a year ago.
Great analysis bro, such a fantastic album. Keep the momentum going and check out Untitled Unmastered. They are leftover from TPAB, but even those are indredible :)
I saw a great analogy of kdots albums it went Section 80 - we fucked up GKMC - my city fucked up TPAB - my country fucked up Damn - this world fucked up MMBS - y’all got me fucked up
Nah honestly very awesome first reaction- caught so much especially just on a first listen through. It really does help going into this album after GKMC but even with that boost it's impressive to pick up all that you heard.
'I' was actually released as a single to mixed reviews because it was too poppy for people. So in the album version he made it sound like a Live Performance with the "Freestyle" at the end. It was not an actual Live version tho :D Also if you change the B in Butterfly to C in Caterpillar the album title changes from 2PAB to 2PAC !!!
Zero if you noticed , each ending of each monologue explained the very next song. So as the poem builds up, it gives you a hint as to what the next song is going to be about
Kendrick was at the California Love video shoot as a kid with his dad. He even says that Dre and Pac looked at him. But no they never actually spoke in the physical realm, Pac died when Kendrick was 9 or 10
Yes he references many things on good kid but most notably the killing of his friend. In these walls he is talking to the killer of his friend in the third verse, after describing having sex with the killers baby momma. Also in u he references section 80 and how he played Keisha’s song for his sister but she still got pregnant as a teen. He also references not visiting his friend who was shot in the first verse of sing about me. He was on tour and instead of coming back home he just face timed, thinking he’d survive. and the guy ended up dying
He said that ghostwriting line before Meek Mill outed Drake for having ghostwriters. Love from South Africa Zero and when shit hit the fan I was still a fan
U is basically a depressed Kendrick with all his failures hunting him, then he turned to Alcohol (what was when you hear the sound of him drinking and bottle clacking sounds) then all his inner thoughts started coming out then in started having a conversation with himself in front of the mirror. the beginning (with the Spanish House Keeper) of the song is actually everything that happened after he got drunk and passed out.... (My interpretation)
40 acres and a mule was what was promised to enslaved people by the union, but they flaked on it when the war actually ended and slave owners never went to jail and got to keep their land
_GNX_ has tenuous threads, similar to _Section 90;_ I think they're both mixtapes to Kendrick, as he refers to _GKMC_ as his first album. I'm holding out hope that _GNX_ was to ride his wave of success, and that he's currently hard at work on a more conceptual album: not that it was a bad album, but because I am an album listener foremost, so concept albums are more nourishing for me than a collection of bangers.
Great job, bro. You caught a lot and understood it really well for a first listen. DAMN is next... which won the Pulitzer prize. Take the first few sentences of DAMN literally. Each song is either weakness or wickedness, and they flip flop. The whole album can be played in reverse with a whole new story too, and it's very intentional by kdot. Playing it normally, Kendrick goes from wickedness to weakness, playing it reverse makes him go from weakness to wickedness. Someone dies either way... you'll see.
"But a rapper with a ghost-writer, what the fuck happened? (Oh no!) I swore i wouldn't tell, but most of yall sharing bars like you got the bottom bunk in a two-man cell" *-A few months before Meek Mill acusses Drake of using ghostwriters* Also a suggestion, it would be cool to see you react to the corresponding The Heart song before each album since they set the tone for the whole thing, so for the DAMN. reaction that would be The Heart Part 4.
You can't lie Battle rap helped you catch bars that you wouldn't have caught before. That's the fire ish about the culture
No glaze no bullshit. You will reach 100k subs by the end of the year. You are more knowledgeable than 95% of “reactors” out here. Yes, even the popular ones. I can tell you’re authentic. Keep grinding my guy
That’s love fam 🖤
This is the only reaction to the album that has actually paid attention to the little details. Keep doing your thing man
Thank you brodie 🖤

yooo this reaction was fire!! keep it up
DAMN is the next one
Untitled Unmastered
Kendrick went to Africa in 2014, which inspired the making of this album.
Momma through You Ain't Gotta Lie "takes place in Africa", with him coming back to Compton for a live performance of i. In Mortal Man, he references Nelson Mandela too. Kendrick got a lot of inspiration and understanding by visiting his jail cell while in Africa.
no way you drop this right as i sit down at my desk with my wings and my smoke .. wondering what i should watch on here 😎
Did it for you twin 🤝 .
Fr I was like what am I gone watch on UA-cam
Hope you eventually get to Untitled Unmastered, an album released a year after To Pimp a Butterfly featuring a collection of demos that were made during the recording sessions of TPAB. While it is a compilation album with no underlying theme throughout, it still features amazing songs, some of which are the best in his whole catalogue.
Bro, I didn't know your channel, but I'm loving watching your videos about Kendrick's songs! I hope you keep up this amazing work
In Mortal Man It's a real Tupac interview from back in the day and Kendrick just inserted himself into it.
I think it was recorded for Swedish radio but was never broadcast for whatever reason. It was crazy to listen to that for the first time. Zero's face showed that feeling for sure, haha!
GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME. THE CONCEPT, THE MUSIC, THE DELIVERY. UNMATCHED. #RM
Without a doubt 👏🏾👏🏾 .
Facts
Good you say album period not just rap album
So for the song These Walls, you recall how one of Kendrick's friends gets killed at the end of Good Kid Maad City? Well Kendrick was rapping about using his newfound fame to sleep with the murderer's girl while he's in jail and the song is him abusing his powers so that the murderer is hurt having to listen to that song

It’s great story telling!
Bro for your first listen you picked up an a ton of the meanings of the album. I love the way you analyze music man. Great reaction!
I hope you continue to react to the Kendrick albums and maybe even do this for other rappers you haven’t really delved into.
This is a an absolute banger of a video man
I appreciate that family .
That new energy after a nap from GKMC really added fire to your reactions.
You did soooo good with this album, always go with your gut instinct because it doesn’t steer you wrong! You were picking stuff up left and right that took me several listens to catch
I absolutely love your energy! This has to be my fav reaction to tpab!!
Keep up the good work!!🔥
He was definitely talking about Drake in King Kunta.
100% When he did King Kunta at Summer Jam, he pointed at Elliot Wilson and said "Elliot-A rapper with a ghostwriter? What the f*** happened?" Drake had publicly moaned about Kendrick to Elliot on stage a year+ prior.
Personally I think he was talking to drake in you ain't gotta lie
@@testing_something for sure in that song also 💯
@shrimp_boogaloo yeah I think between Drakes reaction to the control verse and him finding out about the ghostwriters (prolly from fuckin problems by rocky) that’s when he became hip to drakes bs
genuinely look forward to your reactions. your understanding and energy together is unmatched. keep up the great work 🔥
Great Video, Keep going bro!
My favorite album of all time , not just Kendrick , the importance of this album , the meaning , the concept, the production, one could only dream of making a project like this , one for the ages , it will impact a lot of people for generations, I still remember the day it came out 🔥
Can’t wait for the DAMN reaction
Gang… your reaction is insane. U NAILED IT. It’s incredible ur understandin’.
my favorite reactor, no doubt.
with regards to tupac interview at the end of the album, kendrick got the interview on tour. i believe from a german interviewer, however, the english recording was never released. he asked the estate and they allowed him to use it in the album
This what we been waiting on ..
The fact that you clocked he was talking about Africa as well as Compton in Momma is honestly crazy impressive for a first listen
He caught a lot of the themes very well for his first listen. I was impressed as someone who’s listened to this album legit like 100 times
u is my favorite song off the album, so good
Great analysis bro, such a fantastic album. Keep the momentum going and check out Untitled Unmastered. They are leftover from TPAB, but even those are indredible :)
I appreciate ya my boy 🖤.
Loved your reaction to Wesleys Theory, really well done on analyzing that shit
such a goated youtuber bro
I saw a great analogy of kdots albums it went
Section 80 - we fucked up
GKMC - my city fucked up
TPAB - my country fucked up
Damn - this world fucked up
MMBS - y’all got me fucked up
*MMBS - I’m fucked up
GNX - yall got me fucked up
Better late than never
Nah honestly very awesome first reaction- caught so much especially just on a first listen through. It really does help going into this album after GKMC but even with that boost it's impressive to pick up all that you heard.
You was on it this reaction catching all the metaphors fr and you had a few predictions too!! 💪🏽 I see you fam
2 Pimp A Caterpillar
2 P A C
Zero if you noticed , each ending of each monologue explained the very next song. So as the poem builds up, it gives you a hint as to what the next song is going to be about
You saying I was 12 when this came out makes me feel old asf cause this came out my hs freshman year 💀

shout out for the hardwork with the chapters fam. Thank you for that.
by the way, I am Zulu. The song complexion (Zulu Love) is a nice shout out
This album made me a Kendrick fan
I’m not even gonna lie, I was quite literally searching up peoples reactions to TPAB, and a few minutes later I see you. 😂
You gotta know ima be on time twin . 😤

Can't wait for Damn :)

Aight. We here!!!! This is my first minute comment. I'll be back in 2 hours with my last one LMAO
Could you react to DAMN it’s my second fav that’s not TPAB
40 acres and a mule was what was promised to enslaved people by the union, but they flaked on it when the war actually ended and slave owners never went to jail and got to keep their land
❤️🔥
How you catching thing on your first listen that i havent noticed in ly hindreds of listens bro.
Idc im glazin
❤️🔥
Please react to Kendrick's untitled unmastered album, its pretty much the leftover songs that didn't make this album.
Where are the maad city deluxe tracks?
He’s talking about Africa home. Just for your props
Also these walls and sing about me tie closely together. A lot of Kendrick’s albums tie together
Gotta follow up with untitled unmastered!!
😂😂You not reaching Kendrick knew about drake ghostwriting before meek said anything but nobody caught on when Kendrick said it Meek made it known
1:44:56 i think this one is on Forza Horizon 4 soundtrack
Yes in king kunta he was talking about drake because 4months later meek mill exposed drake 😂😂
Het fept the sake way about institutionalized but now i disagree with you about the off bet thing. I guess after a couple listens it clicks😂
Bro you need to get off the P Diddy shit in every video where sex gets mentioned🤣
I think all his albums are connected except GNX
I feel like gnx is connected just in a different way
Yea I feel that. I think they all have a common thread. Maybe GNX might have some Easter Eggs knowing Dot
I think your a bit late

"But a rapper with a ghost-writer, what the fuck happened? (Oh no!)
I swore i wouldn't tell, but most of yall sharing bars like you got the bottom bunk in a two-man cell"
*-A few months before Meek Mill acusses Drake of using ghostwriters*
Also a suggestion, it would be cool to see you react to the corresponding The Heart song before each album since they set the tone for the whole thing, so for the DAMN. reaction that would be The Heart Part 4.
