      Not sure about that.
Just Listen to Volodos' own intepretation of Alla Turca. The soft parts are as light as Yujas' but the thick parts have twice the power.
Same with her Bumble Bee compared to Cziffra's which has more power and stronger fp effects.
She has alien technique and I really love her playing style. But next to big sound like Volodos or Hamelin, she goes down.
And talking about big sound and Liszt: That guy developed such a powerful technique that they had to change the way they built concert pianos. They adjusted piano making to his technique. How on earth could anyone compare with that?!

Even in Volodos` performance it is evident that hes struggling in areas, and as for emotion and artful expression, the only areas I see lacking are near the end, and from most perspectives and even upon consulting a friend, (who was around by happenstance) both agree that there is not much to fault in this performance. She performs this piece well, with the right expression at pretty much every place.

One of her reviews compares her to Horowitz. I heard her play this as an encore at NJPAC last night, and I can see why she's compared to Horowitz. She also played the Ravel Concerto in G, and it was too easy for her--although it was perfect, as near as I could tell. For those who complain about the desecration of Mozart, I think you have to look at the Volodos as a completely different beast, like Horowitz' "Stars and Stripes Forever," or his impossible transcription of "Pictures at an Exhibition." Her playing made me laugh with delight. Incidentally, if you live in NYC, I recommend the NJPAC as a venue. And if you get a chance to hear Yuja Wang, wherever you are, by all means, take it.

She's playing Arkady Volodo's variation over this Mozart theme, search here in UA-cam for Arkady's own interpretation and judge for yourself. To me the most accomplished pianist is Krystian Zimerman, he is not only very good technically but also a superb interpreter, a true intellectual of the piano, note that I'm not saying that Mrs. Wang is not good enough. The thing is that Zimerman does not tour too much and he stopped recording a few years ago (he's got a quite interesting theory about digital recording). Best regards from Mexico.

The normal one, but this is Volodos's Transcription Turkish March, and as far as I know there aren't many pianists that can play this with "effortless precision", let along play the piece with this level of technique; sure Mozart's version but Volodos's madhouse of a arrangement, I don't believe so. Criticism is nice, but keep it constructed and well mannered.

The first time I heard her performance of this piece (it wasn't _this_ performance), for the first eight bars I thought "How dare she desecrate the sacred Mozart." Then over the next eight bars I realized what was happening. And for the rest of the march my cheeks hurt because I was grinning so much. Marvelous! I prefer her delicate playing style to the more forceful Volodos performance (he actually wrote this variation) but both are fantastic.
