I mostly play shooters on consoles, but I’ve been trying to get into PC shooters, and the biggest thing that holds me back is how dramatically inferior WASD is for movement in a tactical shooter like Rainbow Six Siege compared to the thumbstick. 5:03 - You are absolutely wrong! For the longest time I have had a setup with a mouse on my left and a trackball on my right side. Windows simply superimposes the inputs, hence if you move both in the same direction, this effectively "doubles" your cursor speed (adds both movements together).

I've thought about this type of design before, and it's neat to see it actually done. The first design decision made that I would like to change is that both of the keyboard halves are act to control the cursor. There's no need for this, and there are a handful of alternatives I can think of. The first is to make it so one half controls the cursor, and the other half controls scrolling. This one does not require hardware changes. The second option I can think of is to make them more asymetric. As a right handed user, I would favor removing the round buttons and a column of regular keys from the right keyboard and adding a top row and more circle buttons to the left keyboard. Reverse it for a lefty edition. The thumb cluster keys are great, although I think there could be merit to replacing one thumb cluster with a control pad, or analogue stick like Nostromo gamepads. Naturally, this is desirable for gamers, but it also means your thumb only needs to tilt instead of hit a different button for each function. On the downside, you can't hit multiple keys at once this way. Also as a gamer, I would likely prefer a lighter weight mouse, but I would still be happy to use the left half of the keyboard in this manner. Just some thoughts I had. I really like the concept here.
