I'm going to try duckweed - other poultry (ducks, of course!) love it. Too much can cause chickens to have looser stools, so I'll start slow. Duckweed is high in protein.
@@QuailUniversity thanks so much Linda! Just needed to get a few things in life squared away. Back to normal (as normal as can be) for now! Hope you are well!!
Do you ever give your birds some fresh cut clover or grass? I run my mower over red clover in the side yard to the chickens. My quail are now 8 weeks old, so they might be ready IF that's appropriate.
@@rodr5785 yes! I have a good size garden and they get plants of greens from the garden. As well as some grass. They also love cucumbers and any type of squash
Hey there! Thanks for watching. They are 3ft deep by 8ft wide. Each section is about 12” high for the birds. This setup has worked well for me and is a good size for about 50 birds.

Said a prayer for you. Yes, life gets overwhelming sometimes.
Glad to see you back, Cheyne! And good on you for taking a break when you needed it. That's awesome! -Linda

What do you feed chicks? What age do you start giving grit?
There is a ton of uneaten wasted food in those pull out manure trays under your pen
