Just wanna say thanks for encouraging your audience to try to Pillars 2. Im about 10 hours in and loving every minute. Can see myself pouring hundreds of hours into it.
Same here, although with Pillars 1 - largely thanks to Aestus' recommendation. I'm almost done act 2 and am having an amazing time. Can't wait to get to pillars 2 as well once I'm done :)
Bladesinger Wizard sounds like it will be really fun. Re: Oath of the Crown Paladin, you can get to level 9 fairly early in Act II, just in time to use Spirit Guardians on the encounters where you arguably get the most benefit out of it!
Highly expecting homebrew They have already changed all the subclasses that were weak in 5e and made them viable so definitely see them doing the same here!
"See in the darkness" is not like superior darkvision, but rather like devils sight from warlocks. So all enemies have disadvantage against you in melee, you have advantage against any enemies (but there are very few good attack roll spells) and enemies can not target you directly
C Tier or not, I'm totally playing the Drunken Master / Barbarian dwarf with anger issues and Aspect of the Chimpanzee (throwing camp supplies at enemies blinds them).
The extra carry capacity lets Barbarians carry around tons of Water Barrels so they can 'create water' all by themselves. In addition Path of Giants is supposed to get access to the thaumaturgy cantrip which is amazing for all the social interactions! Party Face Barbarians here we go!
I hope arcane archers interact with the elemental arrows in some way, otherwise, the subclass will probably be bad, since it is unlikely you will be able to use a subclass feature and an arrow of many targets/ slaying at the same time For example, for arcane archers, fire arrows could add a small explosion aoe, ice arrows could have a chance to freeze enemies etc
Great video as always, Aestus! It'll be really interesting to see how these subclasses translate to BG3, given Larian's penchant for homebrew and just the different nature of how effective certain features are in the video game compared to at a table. I'm curious to hear what the new spells and cantrips will be, and if there's any chance we also get a few new items as well.
Great video again! Looking forward to your comprehensive patch update 8 thoughts in a couple of months. I don’t think I’ve seen it yet, but seeing if you have anymore build guides for POE2 coming? I thought you were gonna do one for the main characters but I could be wrong.

I wonder how much of the homebrewing decisions Larian will make will be done to maintain the integrity of Honor mode because Path of Giants feels so broken already.
@roaringthunder8069 I don't think Psy Warrior is nearly as important to the Forgotten Realms as Arcane Archer. AA is an iconic class, Psy Warrior isn't, as far as I know.
Over a thousand hours with honor dice.. Paladins are my favorite class but don’t think the incoming paladin will be good unless it can replace the cleric slot. Basically I don’t see how the enemy focusing on one player is a good thing…in fact it’s a class feature of some enemies. Armor can be bought with blade ward. Heck there is illithid power to transfer health even as a bonus action. BG3 isn’t a grind it out game and pure tank is dead weight. There must be a substantial home brew. PLEASE make the channel divinity powerful…on par with the vengeance paladin.
There are things you can combo it with. There is a shield that gives you Fire Shield, if your a Sorcadin/ Pallock you can upcast AoA (with frost gear maybe?). Spirit Guardians obviously with Radience Orb gear. Third level spells for Paladins are honestly pretty mid so Spirit Guardians by itself is really good. Better on a pally to due to extra attack
I wonder if path of the giant barbarians are really so much stronger than berserker throw builds. You get the double damage from wet, but berserkers can throw on a bonus action, so with 3 levels in thief 4x per turn, double as often as Giant barbarians, who can not weaponize their bonus actions. Obviously, Giant barbs are a lot better, once you factor in haste, bloodlust and terazul, but on the other hand, if you do not use haste, berserkers deal the same damage but spread out over more attacks -> you waste less damage against weaker targets
Always good to see your comments! I am predicting they will be MUCH stronger. There are others ways to weaponize a bonus action. There aren't other ways to double all weapon damage by level 6.
I think you are underrating swashbuckler. I have not played any dnd campaign but in the context of BG3, if Larian decide to keep the charisma initiative thing which please please please, then I believe that is a very stacked lv4 dip because with alert you can get up to 10-12 initiative for any charisma build, and most of them have decent dex which let you go first every fight. This also means that you you do not need to invest initiative gear for them and can give those to other members. I agree that you rank these subclasses as a whole but putting swashbuckler at the bottom seem like an oversight for me :(((((((

Hey, Aestus. Folks here.
Folks, I made all these videos for you.
Well my bg3 sobriety was short lived
Was that a Drunken Master reference? 🍻
BG3 the gift that keeps on giving

1 level Hexblade dip is insane:
Eldritch Blast
Shield
Medium Armor + Shield Proficiency
Charisma Attack/Damage rolls for 1 handers.
They'll likely change the CHA feature since it's already a thing with BG3 Warlock, but it's still crazy strong.

Good stuff. Looking forward to the updated tier list!
oh no a swords bard contender, we know where this is going to go.
The College of Glamours reaction movement is actually really good, and allows you to reposition your allies on the battlefield for essentially free.
I am so fucking ready for the path of the giant barbarian
Already thinking about some oath of the crown hexblade multiclass, gotta love Larian

The fact that we're getting arcane archer and not psy warrior is immensely dissapointing.

@Aestus_RPG so is psy warrior.

Love the analysis. I’m interested to see what they do with Drunken Master, on paper it just looks mid.
College of glamour bard seems perfect to play with the polygamy mod
