Scootaloo's parents weren't even there when she got her Cutie Mark... RD was.
I love that she really is filling the role of Big Sister for Scootaloo.
One day I'm expecting Rainbow to straight up adopt her or something lol.
Luffyiscool I tried watching this with another reactor, and halfway through decided I couldn't handle the cringe without my favorite British person. Thanks for being there for me, bud.
You're welcome lol
Same for me. I've watched a lot reacts to this episode. But the best were yours and Applegeeks. I love emotional episodes, and you, Applegeek and SiliconBrony are very emotional reactors (like AlexSide in the past).
For me the best episode of the season. Yes, I watched all Canada episodes inclusive 10 to prevent spoilers. But my favorite Ponys are the CMC and RD, so ep 10 can't beat this one, and never reach Crusaders Of The Lost Mark.
Thanks, Luffy! Greetings from Germany!
Edit:
On Equestria Daily I've read that Treehouse has changed their schedule. They won't air new episodes this weekend, they will air episode 1 and 2 this weekend and 3 and 4 the next. Maybe they will now follow the schedule in the US and so this problem is over.
My favorite British person is BronyBurningAxe. My first time watching every season 7 episode so far has been with him. I'm still waiting for him to post episode 8, 9, and 10.
I really enjoyed this episode. Bow and Windy are such sweet, caring, and hilarious parents. Yeah, they were pretty embarrassing and over-the-top, but that just goes to show how much they love their little girl. It also warmed my heart to see how quickly they took a shine to Scootaloo. From the hints dropped about what her home life is like, especially hearing how no one ever encouraged her growing up, I think it's safe to say the kid's got a second family with Dash and her folks. =)
You already know my thoughts on the locker room scene. I _was_ kind of hard on Dash, and she _was_ justified in telling her parents to knock it off, but it just hurt seeing her yelling at them when they were just trying to be supportive. Could it have been handled differently? Certainly, but as we know, Dash isn't the best when it comes to tact or sensitivity.
Still an awesome episode =)
Yeah, it really seemed like Bow and Windy were parenting Scootaloo (even if unintentionally).
*searches for more reactions to Parental Glideance*
*finds none*
*goes back to subscriptions*
"...oh."
*celebrates vigorously*
Yomol Waspran now how late
I really love this episode. For me, the best of the season so far. There's just one thing that I think they should change - and it wouldn't even require them changing the script anywhere else. Just make Rainbow flip out on her parents REALLY hard. Like, WAY harder than she did. In this, she just yelled at them. Make her break something, make her go way over the top. Then everything else would work perfectly.
have you watched more in the season? theres a episode coming thats like wayyyy better
I'm starting to think Scootaloo is more of a latchkey kid than an orphan. I remember reading a post by Lauren Faust that said for her Scootaloo has parents but they work most of the time.
She also said Scootaloo would have a scooter as a cutie mark. Guess anything can happen from here on out.
Well you were kinda correct
Her scooter just fell about a thousand feet..
RIP
I read somewhere that Scootaloo is not an orphan, but it's that her parents are just super busy, buried in work and such. It would make sense given she lives in a house and has her own bedroom.
22:50 - I didn't notice it before another comment pointed it out, but interesting how Derpy is top of the pops, then as her eyes get worse, she gets lower and lower. Paints a rather sad picture. Perhaps she could have been a wonderbolt if her eyes hadn't developed problems.
There are two main theories I have. Either she has a condition that slowly worsened as she grew up, or she flew so fast and recklessly that her condition developed due to brain damage.
I'm going to go a step further and call it 100% confirmed. The alternative would be having neglectful parents, and I just can't see DHX or Hasbro going that route.
The real tragedy of this episode? Watching Derpy's lazy eye get worse as she fell in the ranks. Combine that with the scene from "Where the Apple Lies", where her eye is bandaged. They are filling in a very sad story for out muffin loving mailpony.
It may sound cruel, but... I think Scootaloo would be better as an orphan and being adopted by the Rainbow Family
(21:13) Your explanation on Scootaloo’s question is something I can definitely agree on.
I think the episode's intention was to show that it wasn't RD telling her parents to stop/tone down that was wrong but the way she did it. That she should have confronted them calmly rather than waiting until she snapped. They just didn't make it as clear as they should have, and the moral was further impaired by Scootaloo not understanding.
Ryodraco you got it right on the head.
+Ryodraco +LuffyisCool; This exactly. I said the exact same thing. All RD had to do is take a deep breath, calm down and then talk to her parents when she's calm. Snapping like RD did, or worse, and you WILL be villianized because there are far better ways confront them that what she did.
Basically, Rainbow Dash inherited her sense of tact from her parents.
Ryodraco Thank you!It bothers me when people are not getting the lesson and think it's bad episode because they think that it was showing that Rainbow was wrong
Ryodraco Overall I think your right on about RD needing to learn how to control herself better and that she did learn not to take them for granted as much. The problem however is that the parents seemed to have learned nothing, they never apologise to RD or say that they could have done better and that they shouldn't have over praised her for most childhood.
i totally understand and agree with you being on rainbow dash’s side.
while yes she could have handled it without snapping at them.
but there’s that breaking parents just shouldn’t cross and as parents they know that.
dash was right on the money when telling off her parents about cheering her on on things like towels folding.
that is a little too much.
however no matter what your parents do to you don’t raise your voice and shout at them, just makes new problems.
prove to them you’re an adult by calmly telling them that they’re being too embarrassing.
it comes with the territory sure but can’t blame anyone but yourself if your child grows to resent you to the point they didn’t tell you they fulfilled their dream.
Per word of God, Scootaloo DOES have parents, but they are both always very busy and almost never actually have any time to spend with her. Which, in a way.. is almost WORSE then just being a straight up orphan. Not having parents to care for you is bad yes, but having parents who seem to ignore that you even exist? That is a whole new level of painful.
Scootaloo: tradeziez?
Wendy: dealziez!
You: this is very funziez.
Sonata: for realziez.
😆😆😆😆
This is an odd one for me because I love this episode to pieces however there were a couple of moments that I didn't care for in particular: First of all Scootaloo, she seemed completely blind to Rainbow's embarrasment of her parents, and when Rainbow told her how she was feeling she made her feel bad that she had made Rainbow's parents cry, which admittedly Rainbow shouldn't have done that; she should have talked to them calmly about her feelings, but in that situation where the preasure kept building up she finally lost it and said some things that she shouldn't have, which everyone has done at some point.
Also Rainbow's parents; while I did laugh at their antics thinking about it they really messed up The Wonderbolt's routine by throwing fireworks and disrupting everything that they did, I get that they were excited but there's such a thing as too much support, which we saw with Vapor Trail's backstory in Top Bolt.
The fact that the episode made it Rainbow's fault with how she acted was definitely wrong, don't get me wrong I love the episode so much, but the end lesson was definitely wrong; at least in my opinion.
However upon saying that I love this episode, Scootaloo's delight at seeing Rainbow's parents, the music playing whenever the door opened made me laugh like crazy and other moments like that were great, plus we actually saw the Wonderbolts being nice to Rainbow, they seemed like they wanted to say something or make fun of her but instead they just gave her a look and a smile, which I appreciated seeing.
Also I don't think that Scootaloo is an orphan, you can have parents that aren't supportive. I just don't see Hasbro making a main character an orphan.
Also Rainbow did say that she was the youngest in the flying group at that time, so I'm guessing that she and Lightning Dust didn't hang out when they were younger.
So yeah, overall an odd episode for me personally because I did love the episode, just a couple of moments that I mentioned I didn't particularly care for. But even so the episode is definitely up there as one of my favorite Rainbow centered episodes. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
Nooo! You've been spoiled on Daybreaker? Dang it all, wanted to see your surprised reaction to that; still a great episode, but the fact that you've been spoiled on that. Just dang it. Why? Dang it. I love Canada, but I really hate it that they're releasing episodes this early; more then likely to get season 7 done before the pony movie comes out, but still. They should respect that US and everywhere else is staying one episode per week. Dang it all; ugh. I'm so annoyed right now; not only on your behalf but on other peoples/reactors behalf. I've been forced to watch the episodes early because I didn't want to be spoiled on thumbnails from other reactors.
Can you blame them? I mean they went overboard but they only just find out she was a wonderbolt which she witheld from her own parents.
She had issues with them but decided not to talk it out and just don't share her worldlife dream being accomplished.. Which I think is even worse and when they find out she snaps. Granted, I understand why but this really evens it out for me on both parts.
Yes, but there's such a thing as too much support; they were disrupting the Wonderbolt's training, and the Wonderbolt's lives with their support. Yes she should have told them before now, but as she stated that's why she didn't tell them; because they would have acted like this. I would be so annoyed at my parents if they gave me that much support. Supporting your child is great; but there's such a thing as too much support.
+Booklover I'm with you on the disappointment about Daybreaker. I was really hoping he could manage to avoid the spoiler on that. I watched it as soon as possible when it was put on youtube and was blown away by the appearance of her. I wasn't expecting it. That's the problem with waiting though. The longer you wait to do it, the higher the chance of getting spoilered on it. And it doesn't help that a lot of the reactors that reacted to it since, have her in the video thumbnail either. So, yeah. That sucks. Still, either way, I'm sure he's probably going to love the episode all the same. Can't wait until he finally gets to it. I know he still has to react to "Hard to Say Anything" and "Honest Apple" yet first. But I'm still eager to see his reaction to "A Royal Problem" when he gets around to it.
I know. Starlight was right to snap a Trixie, Twilight was right to snap at Flurry, Maud was right to be annoyed by Pinkie, Fluttershy was right to be upset at the workers, Sweetie Belle was right to be upset with Rarity, but suddenly Rainbow Dash is in the wrong?
19:34 "Those are some strong backs."
Appleboom has been working the farm with her family, and Sweetie Belle has gotten a workout hauling her sister's stuff.
Thank you! Finally, somebody noticed that Rainbow actually had a good point.
Don't you just love Rainbow Dash's parents? Their personalities are so loveable! :D
RD's point had merit but perhaps the lesson here is nastily shouting at them is the wrong way to deal with it. Maybe pull them aside with a "Take it down a few notches. Please? For me?"
This is a good episode. Though I think that too much blame got put on Rainbow Dash. It's great to see Rainbow Dashs' parents. Scootaoos' reveal is emotional even though it makes a latter episode worse.
Dash's parents are the nicest people you could ever meet. 💖
shame daybreaker got spoiled to you, it was an epic reveal.
JustAnotherWeeb, I got lucky and didn't get spoiled
This episode has it backwards. Praising someone for doing nothing is a surefire way to ensure that they never try to excel.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's how Zephyr Breeze was raised.
"But can the parents learn the error of their ways?"
Nope. This show has a tendency to only address one problem per episode, even if there are several.
For example, Fluttershy's brother had two problems: he had a serious lack of self confidence, and he was a SELF-CENTERED JERK (self confidence issues don't explain why he was throwing his dad's cloud collection out through a window). They addressed the first part, but never dealt with the second. It just seemed to vanish.
Another example is in Forever Filly, where Sweetie Belle kept lying to Rarity about everything being fine, then got really mad at Rarity for thinking everything was fine. Communication is important, people. And yet, like this episode, they only dealt with one side of the issue, resulting in the other side looking like they were completely in the right.
Don't get me wrong, I still love this show. I just wish they'd think these things through a little more.
Luffy, seems like you and I are some of the few reactors who disagrees abit with how the episode went.
I also thought that the parents were way overboard and needed RD's flip to knock them down a notch. I am a bit effy on how they made RD "REALIZE HER MISTAKE" and the message is fine and all, but still.
I agree with your thoughts.
JohnnyFireFlame yeah her parents were unbearable, but you should never snap at your own parents who have been giving you nothing but support. I'd kill to have that type of support from my parents. I'm not saying it's ok for then to scream support at her, but she could've calmly said it instead of snapping like that. No parents deserve that...
Scootaloo reaching stalker status was the funniest (maybe a bit cringy) part of the episode! The part where I realized RD's parents were taking things too far was when they almost shot RD and the Wonderbolts with the firework. That was just straight reckless. I wish the parents would have directly admitted their fault, but other than that, this is probably my favorite so far this season!
I certainly had fun pointing out the stalker angle with the intro PMV lol
Luffyiscool The song does work very well! Nice choice! Lol
I both loved and was driven nuts by Rainbow's parents. They're so sweet and nice... but they're so overbearingly obnoxious at the same time xD
I'm with you luffy. The anger and volume of Rainbows outburst were bad, but the content of it was quite justified. They set off fireworks at a live air show. Forget embarrassing, that was dangerous! That would get you arrested in real life! Overall nice episode but the moral could have been written better.
Great reaction, Luffy! :D I'm sorry to hear that you got spoiled about Daybreaker, though i suppose it's unavoidable, because i can imagine people going crazy about that reveal. I know i certainly did! :P Yeah, hearing Scootaloo mentioning her family totally caught me off guard as well. I didn't expect to hear anything about them. It definitely made the episode all the more emotional.
"I feel like a man dying of thirst watching another man drown."
-abridged Krillin/Scootaloo
great reaction!! and awesome iron maiden bit in the background : P
7:48 "We need to shut her up before somebody calls the cops."
Literally what I thought seeing this scene. Before RD's mom came out of the house, it was "Oh my Celestia, people are going to think I'm some kind of pervert!"
00:50 CANADA RUINS EVERYTHING!!! lol
Can confirm; is Canadian. It's part of our master plan.
It was just a joke
Except I don't get why some people don't like Canada tho... I mean if it has like free health care what's the problem with that... I mean for people that don't have healthcare in other countries that's a really bad thing if their condition is really terrible... yet some people don't like the fact that Canada will help u with that... I find that to be a good thing that Canada has... don't get what people's problem is with that...
NAMECOMINGSOON Because they're releasing episodes earlier than the US, so spoilers are very common for people following the US release
I would love to be in Canada with all that's going on here.
At this point Scootaloo's parents are either Dead or abandoned her which is a possibility. I say this because in the episode Grannies Gone Wild we see a magician named Jack Pot who has been confirmed to be Trixys father. director Jim Miller even went as far as to say "The question is, does HE know he’s Trixie’s dad?"
So yeah if there is a pony so disconnected they don't even know they have a child then the possibility that Scootaloo's parents just abandoned her is at least there. Although I have no idea which scenario would be worse having dead parents or having living parents who just don't want you.
Your reaction to Scootaloo was perfect.
Thanks lol
That certainly hit me like a ton of bricks and my brain had to do a system reboot.
xd
"Where did she get those pictures!?"
Luffy would have a good job at Cinimasins. **DING**
As for the question as to where Scoots got the pics, there are two possibilities:
1. She really IS that good at stalking, and she was there just hidden very well.
2. She's related to Pinkie somehow and is aware of the fourth wall.
I once theozied that Scootaloo was an Apple that became lost after the parents died away from a city.
Oh good, I wasn't the only one to feel that RD's outburst was justified. When the episode made it seem like she was in the wrong it completely threw me...I mean, she didn't take them for granted, she got ticked off at their overzealous behavior. Who wouldn't?! They shot fireworks into the air around the performers, that's dangerous! And the towel hanging comment is ridiculous. Of course someone would get tired of that! I could already see what the conflict was going to be when we saw the trophy room, but what they went with was baffling.
They definitely could've written that conflict better, but I agree, the Scootaloo thing is worth the frustration. I didn't even think about it like you were saying; her not understanding Rainbow's plight because she never had that. I didn't even pick up on that, so kudos to you.
I didn't realize it until you said it but pony cams filming ghosts is now canon from this episode. This open ups a lot of story possibilities for the future.
YES ANOTHER ONE THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! Another person to catch the whole Scoots and her parents! You and Blank Slate are like the only two to really emphasis that part of this episode! So far my thoughts on the whole "She doesn't understand" is honestly it might not be they are dead, they might just be very neglectful and maybe not physically abusive parents, but maybe psychologically? Either way, this opens up so much more for Scootaloo's character and her struggles!
9:42 "Scootaloo could die right now and be completely content."
As opposed to a few minutes ago, when her attempt to get to Cloudsdale via giant slingshot almost went horribly awry.
"Where did these pictures come from?" -Luffy2017. The question a lot of people want to know.
Great reasons as always for your rating on this episode and looking forward to you reacting to future episodes!
I liked that you noticed that the other 'Bolts were more amused than annoyed. When Fleetfoot saluted and complimented Bow the first thing to come to my mind was "lolol Oh you bitch, I see what you did there."
This episode is why i hate the scootaoo's parents reveal....
This episode was great for flushing out Dash and Scootaloo's character. It really implied some hard evidence that Scoots either lost her parents...or worse...was abandoned by them. Blank said it best that Sleepless in Ponyville was the last time that Scoots got this much personal developement and explanation. We even started with a "Scootaloo needs help" in getting to cloudsdale.
oh my gosh! Rewatching this on your reaction, I totally missed the GIANT rainbow dash head floor carpet in her trophy room! LOL
14:38 "You know its bad when the drill instructor is unsure."
I don't think Spitfire acts as a drill instructor anywhere outside of the academy.
Anyone else notice that Bow has a lot of design features that are similar to Rainbow Blitz? like the eyebrows and the jagged tail?
nope she is not an orphan
"Rainbow Dash's an asshole, these guys are asshole. She's found her people." I couldn't have heard any other words that were just right.
28:52 - precisely. Either Scootaloo doesn't have parents (already a common fanon belief), or she did have parents, but they cared so little about her that she may as well have not had parents at all. Either way...that's sad.
I also agree with rainbow and Luffy come on they kind of embracing
Finally someone who takes rainbow's side.
It's another solid episode for S7!
Normally, I'd agree with you about Dash's parents' behaviour. I usually can't stand parents like that either in real life or as characters in a show. But there are two major reasons I liked RD's parents, and why Rainbow was definitely more in the wrong here. 1) RD's parents aren't the typical "We want our child to be the best at everything so that's why we support him/her" characters. What cemented them to me as good "people" and them not being in the wrong, is that after their initial mistake, they immediately learned their lesson once Rainbow told them how she felt. Another reason is that they treated EVERYONE the same way. They supported Dash cause they wanted her to have good self-esteem, and they did so with everybody else they liked too, especially Scootaloo. 2) RD was definitely in the wrong when she yelled at her parents (especially in front of Scootaloo) after all the support they gave her. She should've calmly explained herself instead of blowing up at them like she did. Her behaviour throughout the episode shows that she did indeed take their support, and the embarrassment that came with it, for granted. Yes, parents can be embarrassing and overbearing at times, but that's no reason to snap at them for supporting and loving you publically. RD should've handled the situation more like Sweetie Belle solved her problem with Rarity in the previous episode.
if scootaloo ever says my parents are dead in mlp like you did, I will both laugh my ass off and cry like a little baby. Also this episode is pretty good, moral is a little muddled but not abhorrently so and I loved dashs parents they are adorable!
This presents us with a few possibilities for Scoots situation.
1. She is an Orphan but unlike AppleJack she didn't have other family to fall back on.
2. She is from an abusive household.
3. She has family who is never home, 2 parents who have to work kind of deal.
4. She is from a very large family where her parents don't give her the attention she needs.
5. Due to her disability she may have been abandoned.
What do you guys and gals think? Think of any other possibilities?
23:45
Well, how the writers scripted it; "No one ever told me."
Has two meanings:
1 - Orphan
2 - Unsupportive Parents
I do agree that the parents are over-supportive, but two things;
Scootaloo was on the parents' side because she was on the opinion that they were possibly more supportive than her parents.
And even though I do agree the parents were embarrassing, I kind of find it too rough to take out anger on your parents, who've been taking care of you for years. Kind of like Superman in that one movie where he unintentionally insulted his adoptive dad on Earth, but at least Rainbow Dash had the chance to apologize.
6:44, that's what I said on equestria amino. it could be a brother, cousin, or even her uncle
23:47, it's still up to interpretation with two options.
A: she has parents but they aren't very involved in her life, or
B: she is an orphan
26:44 "Oh, the implications of this episode..."
Not only does Scoots have an unofficial adoptive sister, she now has unofficial adoptive parents as well!
When you spoil stuff..
Luffyiscool won't be amused.
I have a headcannon that Scootaloo is now able to fly after eating that half of the sandwich. its just a matter of her trying.
I like to imagine that Scootaloo IS an orphan and that RD's parent's miss having RD to cheer for and decide to adopt Scootaloo and cheer for her, eventually giving her the confidence to finally fly, and legitimately making her and RD sisters. I'm probly reaching tho.
"Where did those pictures come from?" Hasbro, of course!
0:18 "Yes, we can finally check Rainbow Dash off the list of ponies (who) we've seen their parents."
It's kind of crazy that we ended up seeing and hearing both of Diamond Tiara's parents before seeing all of the (living) parents of the mane six.
I'm going to be honest. When I heard that we were going to finally get an episode focused on still unknown ponies that were actually related to the Mane Six, I was as excited as Scootaloo at meeting these ponies. However, at the current moment, I can only watch this episode through a Blind Reaction as it allows me to focus on the Reactor in the parts I just CANNOT stand anymore - which is mostly the middle part of the episode.
11:33 That rug really ties the room together.
Love that you got upset at the parents. Rainbow yelled at them when she could have explained that all the attention was unneeded. If I yelled at my parents, i guarantee i would be homeless.
When i first saw this episode and her dad's initial reaction, i was worried they were gonna go the opposite direction with this and reveal that her parents where gonna end up being jerkasses, but i'm glad they didn't go there.
As someone with such an extreme aversion to spoilers, I feel your pain, Luffy.
6:04 "I'll start planning the funeral!"
I call dibs on her scooter!
I feel like the people who aren’t on Dash’s side, have never had parents like her’s, or they are just not seeing the big picture.
Overpraising is a serious issue. Parents who OVERpraise, not praise, but go over the top with it (RD’s parents setting off fireworks-), often create narcissistic, unprepared, and extremely competitive children. By saying, “you’re amazing!” “you’re perfect” (greatest towel hanger of all time?? Haha), you are making the child feel as if they don’t have to do anything to be great, because you keep praising them for insignificant things. So because of this narcissism, they put aside motivation for things like good grades, etc. and it creates attention-seeking kids, that only try at things in order to get praised. It also makes children unprepared when they are facing problems they cannot solve. When they FINALLY doubt their own skills, it sends them into a spiral. They face an identity crisis, realizing that they really aren’t the shit. (Before the rainboom was performed in the contest).
And RD? Self-absorbed, unprepared when facing doubt, and very competitive.
Hm.
EXACTLY, I feel so alone with finding NOTHING wrong with Dash's outburst. They meant well but they DID have it coming.
Luffyiscool YES!! I think that it would be better to critique Rainbow Dash’s shouting, rather than what she said. However, I still think that her yelling wasn’t totally unwarranted, it’s a very frustrating thing to deal with parents like those.
But you’re not alone! Overpraising is a serious issue, and I wish that the show did a better job at showing that. Be safe, now!
I was spoiled on Day-mare-sun too...
After I stopped watching MLP and got back to it.
3:00 - At least it's not over-protective dads. STILL HATE D.O.D.!
25:40 - In that case, you'd love ManchildInc for making this point.
We see Scootaloo in her bedroom in her house in the episode [Flight to the Finish]. Maybe her parents are just too busy to interact with her (if she has them).
This is what drives me nuts. to avoid spoilers I need to be on Canida's schedule. To do my reviews and get my art done by the guy who does my art, to keep my audience (all two of them ) happy I have to be on American time. So its like "Oh Ninja DC uploaded ? Time for Canada... Of Luffy reacted? Ooops time for America. I'm on a real crazy ride now.
Re: pony parents, part of me fears that Hasbro, not wanting to talk about death, will require Scootaloo's and AJ's parents to be alive, shipwrecked on an island along with Prince Blueblood, Iron Will, Babs Seed, and Twist.
Good choice. You have to see the episode with Daybreaker ASAP.
Oh and btw. My favorite part of this episode was RD going rage mode at her parents. I do relate to that a lot and i understand why she did it. Sometimes it is inevitable. Regrets and making ammends are also the right thing after the fact but you know that the shouting has to be done or the message will not get across sometimes.
On the plus side of these early reaction but US releases you got plenty of time for editing. ;)
They diiiidn't quite say it, but oh so close to Scootaloo being an orphan. Makes you wonder what TV-Y has against orphans? The alternative is as Lauren said it, her parents are too busy to pay Scoots any attention, or they looked down on her handicap. We did see she has a home in Flight To The Finish, but that could just be a 5-star orphanage.
But like I said to Applegeek back in Where The Apple Lies: "If they can show a bonesaw and threaten with amputation, they can just as well talk about their dead parents (goddamnit)!"
Loved your reaction to this episode.
Especially the part about Rainbow's parents.
i truly loved this episode, loved RD's parents.
this was an amazing reaction Luffy
Finally someone else who reacted like I did when Rainbow yelled at her folks. She really wasn't in the wrong but was sorta made out to be.
I'm sorry we Canadians had to ruin the surprise for you Luffyiscool. Yes I am Canadian, but still...I think I was younger too my parents were like that for me.
I really want RD and her parents to adopt Scool...
For some reason I really expected them to not be Dash's parents and just be crazy fans. Glad to see I was wrong, though.
If it is confirmed that Scootaloo is an orphan, I'd like to see her get adopted by the Rainbow family. They have a good connection with her and it'd be very cool to see all four of them do some bonding activities together. Now, what I'm most excited to see is a backstory on Applejack's parents, which has been avoided for the longest time and I'm very eager to see it happen!
She's not an orphan but she might as well be. Her parents travel the world working and are therefore pretty neglectful
Wow so if derpy's eyes didn't get messed up she could have been a Wonderbolt herself. That's kinda sad, poor Derpy... 😔
Great to see her parents and all, but personally I thought that the lesson should be that her parents should tone it down a bit with the cheering and all.
A hilarious plot twist would be if she turned out to be Derring Doo's daughter...
Also, I don't think Scootaloo necessarily had a problem with Rainbow Dash's explanation for why they're as overbearing as they were as much as her outburst towards them in general. Rainbow definitely had a point in her rant, but at the same time the way she talked to them was uncalled for. Her frustration is understandable, but there are more sensible ways to confront your parents about something that you find troublesome then to just yell in their faces like you don't want anything to do with them. That's what the episode was going for here, but I still agree that they should've addressed Rainbow Dash's side of the story here and show her some leeway cause she still has a reasonable point. I think that's my biggest complaint for the episode, but even then I still think it was overall a very decent entry for S7.
They made it a little vague but we definitely have confirmation now that EITHER Scootaloo's parents are neglectful and awful, OR she doesn't have any.
completely agree with u...on being on Rainbows side of things when she snapped at them.
I recall watching the episode the moment I saw it uploaded and since it was an early release, the audio had a few cents variation in the pitch. Great to see that Scoots is nowhere near as ear piercing with the correct audio. zzz
You know, Fleetfoot doesn't get any credit in this episode. Where she's previously been, in DWK's words, "weird and creepy," she actually expressed a lot of sympathy for Rainbow throughout this episode.
17:07 - yes, thank you :P Not as bad as JohnnyFireFlame's repeated 'did you know?'s'
I'm a bit mad at scootaloo
Well dead or abandoned her. Also if this is the route they take it could explain why she can't fly. Perhaps its genetics or a mental block of some kind that Rainbowdash and her parents will help Scoots through. That would make for an interesting or couple of episodes.
Luffy, out of curiosity, how much were you spoilered on Daybreaker? Was it just the image of her showing up? Or did you also get spoilered on the how and why she was there as well?
I have absolutely no context on her or why she's appeared.
And I've been promised that it's a great episode even if you know about her beforehand, so that's encouraging to hear.
That's good. I won't spoil that for you. ;) Yes, it really is an awesome episode. ^u^
I liked this episode. Rainbow Dash's parents are awesome. I do admit they did go a little over board with the cheering and I can see why Rainbow Dash can find them a little embarrassing, but Rainbow Dash shouldn't have yelled of them. My parents embarrass me sometimes, but they do it because they love me. Rainbow Dash's parents remind me what a good family I have and even though they get on my nerves sometimes, I still love them and I wouldn't be the man I am today without their love, guidance, and support. Yeah this episode definitely one of my top 10 for this season.
Did you notice that Derpy's eyes started out normal, but got worse and worse over time?
It's kind of sad, really.
I'm glad you're one of the few people who actually understood and took Dash's side. Both parties were technically at fault(some more than others...obviously) but people have really overrated this episode just because Dash's parents were in it and some have even taken to attacking Dash for "taking things too far" as well as nitpicking other things about her(one such thing such as how its apparently a continuity error that Dash isn't appreciative of overbearing and obnoxious praise and attention when supposedly instances like Mare-Do-Well were the same exact situation where she received attention and liked it -_-). It honestly pisses me off how easily fans have jumped on the Rainbow hate bandwagon without even trying to understand her after all these seasons. Makes me glad that I can feel awesome knowing I appreciate and love all this show's main characters equally even if that makes me sound like a conceited jerk.
Anyways, yeah, Josh Hamilton definitely screwed the resolution a bit too much here. I hear he's worked on Legend of Korra, a show I've come to simply "meh" aside instead of just disliking a lot of it. I don't know what episodes he's worked on but I fear it was probably ones I hated for similar reasons as to why the resolution wasn't all that good. I give every new writer a pass if they flub up something in their first episode for mlp so he gets a pass for now but I won't deny how irritating it was to see Dash being forced to take almost all the blame when very little of it should've been on her. I hope Josh does take these criticisms such as yours to heart because a writer from Korra on the show, and the way the resolution turned out for this episode doesn't bode well for future outings with him. Fun episode but the resolution wasn't near the level it should've been. Oh, and I hope those Dash haters screw off with their "criticisms" on Dash's justified behavior.
Also, unfortunate to hear about the spoiler. But you have to admit, when the show wants to outshine the fandom in terms of what works better in even the smallest ways, they do. Daybreaker is a much more fitting name than the fandom's "Solar Flare"
"some more than others...obviously"
I sure didn't think so. EVERYONE had a perfectly valid reason for acting the way they did, and equally so.
You've seen DWKs videos too!? Ohmygosh, I flipped for a second there when I heard the reference and I totally got it
