I appreciate hearing things from a medical standpoint. It’s important for awareness.
The answer to the beheading thing is Yes, Joe Scott’s video went over this. Dr Beaurieux from 1905 studied this and found you would be in a fairly lucid-shock state for up to 30 seconds. It’s a slow fade.
Unfortunately it wasn’t a study. It was a single event. One person. So can’t make any conclusions from it. And the head fell in a bucket. He stated that he didn’t touch it but would have to pick it up to see the head so, questionable at that. Sorry everyone

With how UA-cam is these days, aren't you worried about getting demonitized with a video like this? The site hates real world violence and it would suck for this channel to suffer for it.
He’s a doctor 😂 I’m sure money isn’t an issue for him
I don't think UA-cam will affect his channel, as these types of videos are from an educational and medical standpoint.
@@chrislippert-cu3qiBut does UA-cam care?
@@knightofarkronia9968 I would say so. Even though their system is run by bots. It does say at the bottom of the video that it comes from a professionally licensed doctor. So, yes there may be a small chance. But if anyone with a pulse reviews it, it'll get monetized, for sure.
UA-cam doesn't care as long as it's "educational" and not something that goes against the woke agenda
its crazy to think the last guillotine execution was in February 1977
Craziest thing is, people think it is barbaric, and it is maybe the swiftest and painless method of execution, while people think lethal injection is human. And the worst thing is, french far right and a huge growing amount of the population want the death penalty back. I'm french and it is horrifying to see that happen as we criticize USA, Iran, China or North Korea for still applying this barbaric and useless methods...
Funny how they thought a quik drop and a snap is more brutal then buring aliive and having your eyes melt
This isn’t a top 5 list, the entries aren’t in any particular order.
@@knightofarkronia9968 I know I was just saying how the inventor said it was more humane.

Scaphism is definitely up there as one of the worst but also “shittiest” (literally) ways to die
Definitely up there as one of the worst ways to die
One technical aspect of the electric chair was the first living thing to be electrocuted* was an elephant, which had killed a number of people having escaped and went on a rampage, and Edison, who supplied Direct Current (DC) from his generators, was using the stunt as a way to extoll the dangers of his opposition's electrical supply, Westinghouse, who used Alternating Current (AC), by using said AC power to kill the elephant, and even tried to have the word "Westinghoused" used insted of "electrocuted"; in the end it turned out DC was not only more impractical from a distribution sense, but the power he supplied was even more dangerous than AC owing to the muscles locking up solid when DC is sent through them and basically cooking people's flesh when unable to be freed from whatever they were in contact with, pretty grim stuff...
(*for clarification, that is a combination of "electrically executed", for those who get a mild shock and tell people they were 'electrocuted', you weren't, because you're still alive!!!)
John Oliver's piece on lethal injection is really good. you got dudes on midazolam getting dosed with paralytic and potassium. fucking horrific.

That guillotine line you said reminded me of something Cap'n Jack Sparrow said on Dead Men Tell No Tales " I've seen men swing for hours eye bulging, tongues swelling, revolting gurgling sounds some people have all the luck wish I were hung "
the video was very interesting🤗
У меня мурашки по коже бегают😧😧
Never understood why it really mattered if it was inhumane or not. Majority of the people put to the death penalty did something inhumane to someone else. So why give them a swift humane exit.
Because that makes us no better then them!
You should do more of these - it's really interesting to hear the medical standpoint - maybe dedicate 1 video to 1 form of lethal punishment. So it's a bit longer of an explanation?
My dude, you forgot the consequence of TOO long a drop for a hanging death. Decapitation. I believe it's happened and been recorded at least twice, because maths is hard. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not the desired outcome, but it is a third option of what could happen

Correction.
Neither the brain nor the central nervous are "destroyed" as described.
They will most likely be damaged, but not destroyed.

@@DoctorER no problem. keep going!! i always loved science, human anatomy and other things like that, but it's even better with you! have a great day 💪
Hanging is the least painless capital punishment if done properly because it is instant death. Electric chair and leathal injection are by far the most painful. The gases used in the gas chamber would kill you in seconds so even if you were in pain it wouldn't last long.
I know some of these execution from Cartoon and movies (especially The Electric Chair, it also in a game called Twisted Metal which they try to do it to Sweet Tooth but he’s survived from it)
Sweet Tooth is also brutal (he’s a Creepy Overweight Clown who’s wears a mask and leather straps, also his head is on fire because why not, The Twisted Metal TV Show also show how horrifying he is, he killed a Dog when he was little because he was jealous pretty much of that he was in a Sitcom show and The Dog was more famous than him)
and that’s one of Sweet Tooth’s messed up things
There was a guy who survived lethal injection 2 times
Maybe something from Underworld? There are many interesting injuries in this film.
These deaths are so tame compared to the old times methods. There is drawing and quartering, The Vikings blood eagle, The Greeks with their brazen bull, (I don't remember the details but there was a south American tribe that executed a Spanish governor who was obsessed with gold by melting it down and literally drowning him in it.) The old times had INSANE execution methods that would cross almost every morale human line we have by todays standards. And that's just a drop in the pond of some. Some of them are SO BAD I won't even mention them here. 😨
In almost 50 years, only just under 1,400 criminals have been ended by lethal injection? Wow, then why the heck is capital punishment such a hotly contested topic when it is used so sparingly? The way they made us debate it in school and whatnot, you would think it was 1,400 a month being put down.
1:10 Armchair expert here: technically (my favorite word), you shouldn't be saying high-voltage electric currents. A current can't be high-voltage. Voltage represents the difference in potential. The more correct sentence would be: the methods apply one or more high currents. You can then pinpoint that high currents are archived with high-voltage. EDIT: 1:25 Again not high voltage but high current coursing through the body.
The bronze bull is pretty bad.
The noose is an interesting one, as there are times where it has not worked. In fact one guy survive 3 hangings, and the judge went ya, you dont need go through this again, and sent the man to Australia as an indentured servant, or something like that.

I unfortunately know a whole bunch of terrible execution methods. The guillotine was one of them.
I was thinking about how lethal injection is controversial, but then I started thinking about what is used when someone with a terminal illness wants to go with dignity. Are they the same drugs, and if so, why can't that be used?

Как же я обожаю средневековье за такие вещи
Gonna sound morbid but I studied torture and execution through history, and by god, there is a fuck ton (pardon, lack of a better word) tons of examples of historical executions, however they didn’t care about preventing suffering, starting with some common ones. Brazen Bull, Crucifixion, Blood Eagle, Keel Hauling, The Sawhorse, The Iron Maiden, Stoning, Flaying, Boiling, Hanged Drawn & Quartered, Death by Elephant, Gibbet, Impalement, Gladiatorial fights ( death by human/weapon or eaten/crushed by animal) Falling, Breaking Wheel, Crushing, Sawing, Disembowelment, Swallowing molten metal, having molten metal poured on your head, Garrote, and last but not least, the worst imo, Scaphism. Most of these are self explanatory, if you value the contents in your stomach, DONT look up Scaphism.

How could the quartering method not be on the list? 🤔
This was a more modern day list. Not an all out list
This is gonna sound super dark but I think the quickest and humane way of "retribution" is sudden extreme trauma to the brainstem. I have an uncle who was a small farm and the way he uses to kill an animal (for food) in family reunions is using something like a veterinarian gun? (I don't know the name) directly to the animal's brainstem. With my knowledge, it seems to me the animal goes lights out before even hearing the mentioned device being fired.
Edit: And those who advocate animal rights (which I do agree, cruelty to animals should be heavily sanctioned), in the southern part of my country is common for people to have some sort of cattle, but I can assure you even the bone marrow is eaten and some of the bones go to their rescued doggos and the rest is grinded to the consistency of sand and used as fertilizer for plants. Killing an animal and leaving behind any waste is considered disrespectful, so even the skin goes to a local tannery, which then supplies leather to clothing shops, shoe repair shops, etc.
