I'm so sorry that even one person dissed this amazing work of art. This is actually one of my favorite films of all time. This is a great example of the director really hitting it out of the park. Definitely a homerun of the film. Classic...
I’ll never understand why Stephenie Meyer never wrote a sequel to The Host! The book ended with a major cliffhanger. Over the years I kept hearing that Stephenie was working on a sequel titled The Soul. But the last update was years ago back in 2013… nothing since. Did Stephenie just give up??
@@eden20111 I hear what you're saying for sure. Honestly, I am only familiar with the film (never read the book) but would certainly love to see a sequel!

Same. I remember using 3 books to read it about 11 years ago in middle school (grade 8) after watching the movie. My middle school library had a couple of them with originally published covers and I went out to get one with the movie cover at a book store before I got one from a thrift store years later. I went from the original published cover to the movie one and back to the original one cause I lost the one I got through either me accidentally misplacing it or my homeroom grade 8 teacher taking it.
The book is better. If you only watched the movie it’s a good movie and you miss anything but if you read the book, you will find a lot of missing things, especially emotional ones. So don’t watch it or afterwards you need to read the book again 😅
i LOVED this book. I was so annoyed for YEARS that the stupid vampire series got so popular she decided to go with that one. It really felt like a waste, but instead I got to listen to my grandmother and aunts thirst over shirtless taylor lautner.
I personally don't read a lot of love story's, but that one really got me. It is one of my favourite books. Wanderer is just such a kind soul... As for the movie, the amazing soundtrack made the book more emotional for me. It's one of the most beautiful movie soundtracks I know as well.
i remember listening to the audiobook for the host and i was so immersed by its dystopian setting and surprisingly interesting characters. meyer is not my favourite author, but i must congratulate her for this novel. i adored her storytelling in the book.
Supposedly Stephanie is still writing the second book, but given how much time has passed since both the book and film had come out who knows if it will ever come.
I keep coming back to this book. Despite its many fascinating similarities to the Animorphs, this is a comfort read/watch. The Animorphs were all about using mind invading/world conquering aliens to explore the darkness inherent to humanity while this is all about using mind invading/world conquering aliens to explore the hope and love inherent to humanity. Is it a perfect book? Nah. But it's pretty, it's uplifting, and I liked it enough to actually buy it and its soundtrack.
How is it uplifting? I didn't know what to think by the end of the movie....how could i side with the humans....when the aliens literally saved the earth that humans destroyed....while destroying each other....look at us now...2024...and there are wars and natural disasters everywhere...does the book have a better explanation on what moral lessons we could learn from this?
I would absolutely love to see a sequel though that is not likely to happen considering how many years have gone by. Indeed the author has not even written a sequel to the novel but this would make a great TV series and it would have more time to really explore more characters, I really would love to see Ian's older Brother Kyle and his relationship with alien girl Sunny.
This movie shows the true nature of humanity, no matter how hard we fight for unity, peace and all good things we cherished for, we keep wanting to go back to our old ways of struggle and violence, our 'humane' way...
I actually didn't see it that way. From what I understood the merge between both of the characters in one body was crazy and evil but once each part started to experienc each other's shoes they become empathetic and were able to work together and live in harmony in the end( spoiler alert) This is so true that they even goes to length as to protect Wanda and feel friendship and love for her.
They have probably become their own race. When i broke the equation in my head i made a ☆Quantum Energy Leap☆ i passed out, an overwhelming sleepiness and i fell asleep. I think tye body gets mad and just keeps things for memory.
Got a tipoff about this film. At about 9:31 does then man tell that the woman is human because the lack of glowing rings around the iris? Was she also human and in control when her eyes have glowing rings?
Yep. That's in the book, too. The telltale signs are the reflected light from in the eyes (described more like how a cat's eyes will flash back in low light levels), the silver ring (as you mentioned), and finally that small scar on the back of the neck, which is where the 'insertion' happens.
This movie looks sooo interesting!!I thought it was so funny how he was about to kill Melanie then as soon as he saw she was human, he kissed her and I'm like *"oooh he badly wanted that"* hahaha but then again it's like I don't blame him but then again maybe not!!
If I didn't know any better, I think that The Host, in a way, describes the dangers and concept of communism. The idea of a perfect world, and yet becomes dangerous to those who disagree.
Aliyah never married or engaged to that one dude in this world. One of the other versions she never married or engaged or was girlfriend to anyone. She shouldn't have died!!!!
You guys better read the book of Enoch and Revelations and 2 esdras. 😂😂😂 because they a Reversing the roles this movie is a mixture of biblical stories .
Sounds like a movie to make someone afraid of a entity of light. It would have been better to have a symbiotic relationship and not a total removal of the human soul, but instead more like a cleaning of all the negative aspects of the person leaving a better version. Shame she went with a negative view of the process.
This movie has a really stunning soundtrack
Love this scene. How quickly she heals and opens her eyes.
