De Ligt was worth more than a 7 IMO. He imposed himself physically, made some good headed clearances. There was a moment when he outmuscled and outpaced Saint Maximin who was trying to run through on the left wing that sticks to mind. He was a threat with crosses or corners at the other end too. Wasn’t at fault on the goal. He was a 7.5, or 8 at a stretch.
The seeming freezing out of Diallo is scary. Rocks what little faith In had left in the manager. Diallo a fantastic but now largely sidelined talent. The playing of our LB in the 10 position despite the obvious alternatives you outlined is also a give away that the manager is losing the plot…. and the players by the way they are passionless in their application of whatever tactics are being extolled from ETH.
I think Amad has proven he deserves to play ahead of Antony, based on his play this season. Not sure if ETH is trying to send a message to Amad about his work ethic or if ETH is still trying to prove Antony was not a poor signing.

The manager doesn't like Amad. Last season, he played him only due to injuries, but had to keep playing him because he played too well. I think he hated that. This season was the same, he couldn't drop him initially because he started the season so well and was the most consistent, but the manager was just waiting for Amad to have an ok game so he could then drop him again. Imagine winning player of the month, then dropped immediately after. Imagine playing a full back in the 10 when Amad can play anywhere in the front four? You know why? ETH couldn't afford for Amad to look better than bruno in that position. Protect the captain's position at all costs. This manager is a fraud.
Also I completely agree about Zirkzee, Steve. I think we've got a problem there because I like the kid but I keep seeing this kind of performance from him. You compare his efforts off the ball with hoijlund and the difference in desire and energy is plain to see.
I don't think Zirkzee was prepared for how physical demanding playing for United is, especially when he really doesn't want to be deployed as a 9 where you get caught up in the most tussling. You can see it's draining the enthusiasm from him.

I disagree with you about Amad, as a young player ideally you don't want him overplayed, and the PL has to be Ten Hags priority, as his job depends on top 4 probably. He may think he'll need Amad from Christmas onwards, plus before the Jan window he has to put Anthony in the shop window. Most of us fans like Amad, but sometimes we lose the bigger picture, and we have to trust the coaching team to know what they are doing. we wont get rid of Anthony unless he has a few games!
Zirkzee for me was the absolute worst player on the pitch. When you don't get into the 11 consistently and you draw a start, the BARE MINIMUM is you should be running like a bastard everywhere you go. He was constantly jogging off the ball with no press worth a damn. The game changed when we made subs, but Hojlund looked worlds better!
I think Rasmus´s header for goal were fast thinking and well executed. It could easily have resulted in a goal. Unfortunately they were fast and clever as well.
I saw ten hag speak at the post match press conference. He said he played Anthony over Amad because Anthony had been training very well and felt he had to reward him. Ten hag also said about Mazroui being in midfield: it's a little bit lost in translation, but it seemed like he said that Mazroui had always played in that role, and that ten hag later turned him into a fullback (presumably at ajax?). Interesting I thought. Also: I thought deligt was outstanding as was ugarte. Martinez was great too along with onana. Oh and I also saw that apparently lindelof was injured which is why he didn't challenge when the goal went in. Not sure of the legitimacy of that though.
It’s worth having a bit of patience too because the academy teams are looking very special. To fix goals go all out for Sesko in Jan. Then concentrate on gradually bringing the academy players into the first team. I’m still rally optimistic things are getting better.
Hey Ste. You are one of the people who always says "will never say sack the manager". I get that and respect that. But if you are rating players, sometimes saying players are not good enough for MUFC well surely the manager has to get the same treatment. Victor made one mistake. He didn’t defend badly all game. He made one mistake, after barely any game time for a long time in a back 3 that hasn’t played together before. I know he’s not good enough to play every game for United but can’t be too harsh on him. We should have won the match regardless
Viktor Lindelof is not a Manchester United player, lets get that to of the way. He has zero presence, zero charisma or fight, has no tenacity nor outstanding trait. Hes a mere passenger who would be better suited at a lower end of the table club, or in Italy. Because he is nowhere near the standard, yet somehow stuck around. I don't know what he's done in training, like Antony to register a start or indeed a place on the bench. I mean that for years.

I must say I like that you take the time to explain your thoughts Ste. And as per usual, at least in my oppinion, you've got some good observations and thoughts. I fear this season will frustrate but hope some time give the group some much needed consistency. Unless you adjust expectations on account of age to me it looked like Rashford over all made better decisions. Garnacho makes me think of a young Nani with less flashy dribbles. Yes, he is direct. But that's because all he seems to think about is scoring himself. His lack of chance creation for teammates is frustrating. Play Anthony midweek to keep Amad fresh and ready for the weekend . But Amad is not there yet .............the two wing positions Garnacho and Rashford are ahead of him . I think he is a fine player , but a bit more ' DIY ' and not creative enough at times . The Manager and coaching staff are still trying to find ' round pegs ' for the round holes , but it is a huge struggle , because of so many off beat players . Managing this lot is like trying to herd cats . There are a few of them and I don't know what position they are supposed to be from week to week . I'm always nervous of Onana but he is delivering . Overall with Casemiro and Eriksen in the team we never look QUICK , very good players bur we are sluggish . Dalot 4. When we start playing an actual recognised left back and Mazraoui at right back results will start to improve. Play Plunkett and drop Dalot and see things improve instantly!
For me Zirkzee is the most puzzling signing, he would probably play well if you play 2 up front, but we don't, he is more of a Fernandez type player than a goalscorer, then the manager doesn't seem to know exactly what to do with him. For me, not the player we needed. An out and out goalscorer would have been more fitting. One last point, get the damn wingers to look for a cross, before trying to burst the net, the one real cross we did, resulted in a goal, more of the same please Rashford and Garnacho.
Amad needs to work on his Physicality (Bulk up) so that he's not losing EVERY 50/50 & spend some serious time developing his weaker foot so that he's not as predictable on the right. If he does these 2 things then he has literally everything else needed to be an elite winger. As things are Garna and Rashford both have better Physicality, better weaker feet and have increased their defensive work rates so there's really not much of an argument for getting Amad in ahead of either of them ATMIT™
Stop it. What physicality? Not every player needs to do that. Would you say the same about Bernado Silva? Odegaard? No. What he needs is to play. But this manager cant manage rotation of players properly

Those two players i named are small players compared to others but that doesnt affect them because they have good technically ability. Thats why players like Yamal and Neymar flourish. And Plus, diallo played in the Championship which is way more physical and did good.

Why is Amad's future in doubt?? He is young and still developing. In your previous vid you advocated for his reps to go to management and kick up a fuss over his game time. Can everyone please just calm down and be patient...we say players should show in training why they deserve to play...Antony does that and then we lose our minds. Amad has been skipped in the starting line-up because he isn't scoring. Garanacho I have to disagree with. Yes he is determined and dribbles at players but he doesn't actually get around them and even if he ends up in a good position he makes the wrong choice. He is capable of spectacular things sure, but so was Januzaj. Last night he actually thought he was Ronaldo and, for me at least, that needs knocking out of him soon. If he wants those privlages he has to earn them first.

Ten Hag inherited a rag bag of players it was time for a massive clear out so far he has got rid of most of that lot. We have had Two Top Top coaches who have failed despite the successes they had elsewhere, Ten Hag had great success at Ajax, this season is the first one since he arrived at the club where he has a group of people charged with getting the club up off its knees. I was one of those people who waited 26 years for United to get back to the top and enjoyed those times and I also remember supporters asking for Ferguson to be sacked after two years but thankfully Martin Edwards did not listen. If Ten Hag has not turned the club around by Christmas then I will accept that he needs to go ( personally I would have given him till the end of the season) so let’s all take a step back a big breath and at least give him that chance.
Rashford was closer to the cross. Dalot hate is unreal at this point. He’s been one of our best, most consistent, versatile and reliable players for a long time.

Amad is a defensive liability. Antony is a known quantity.
Rashford did not do defensive work and maybe Amad is following his lead. EtH has a unique plan to the future of united, hope he shows us soon.

I think Onana has got better at his real weak point, he is not giving nearly as many rebounds in dangerous areas anymore.

It’s worth having a bit of patience too because the academy teams are looking very special. To fix goals go all out for Sesko in Jan. Then concentrate on gradually bringing the academy players into the first team. I’m still rally optimistic things are getting better.

Unless you adjust expectations on account of age to me it looked like Rashford over all made better decisions. Garnacho makes me think of a young Nani with less flashy dribbles. Yes, he is direct. But that's because all he seems to think about is scoring himself. His lack of chance creation for teammates is frustrating. Not to mention the overall lacking quality of the few attempts he makes at finding a teammate in a better position.
I’d give Dalot a worse rating than VNL
Ten Hag should have kept the same as usual formation to find out who can link play as an alternative for Bruno or play 3 in the midfield or Zirkzee as playmaker behind Holjund. Switching Dalot and Maz was surprised, as he played them differently. The draws are a pain, how are we so far down from the top in Europa?

There doesnt seem the players out there to buy at the moment, similar to managers. We needed a goal scorer in the summer, Zirkzee isnt it. I suppose a lot of clubs need players and managers, tricky times!
Play Anthony midweek to keep Amad fresh and ready for the weekend . But Amad is not there yet .............the two wing positions Garnacho and Rashford are ahead of him . I think he is a fine player , but a bit more ' DIY ' and not creative enough at times . The Manager and coaching staff are still trying to find ' round pegs ' for the round holes , but it is a huge struggle , because of so many off beat players . Managing this lot is like trying to herd cats . There are a few of them and I don't know what position they are supposed to be from week to week . I'm always nervous of Onana but he is delivering . Overall with Casemiro and Eriksen in the team we never look QUICK , very good players bur we are sluggish . Manchester is A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma ( Champagne Lover (Pol Roget ) and Cigar Smoker (Romeo y Julieta and the now-defunct La Aroma de Cuba.) You know who I mean . The team could lister to a few of his speeches . WE WILL FIGHT THEM

Dalot 4. When we start playing an actual recognised left back and Mazraoui at right back results will start to improve. Play Plunkett and drop Dalot and see things improve instantly!
For me Zirkzee is the most puzzling signing, he would probably play well if you play 2 up front, but we don't, he is more of a Fernandez type player than a goalscorer, then the manager doesn't seem to know exactly what to do with him. For me, not the player we needed. An out and out goalscorer would have been more fitting. One last point, get the damn wingers to look for a cross, before trying to burst the net, the one real cross we did, resulted in a goal, more of the same please Rashford and Garnacho.
Amad needs to work on his Physicality (Bulk up) so that he's not losing EVERY 50/50 & spend some serious time developing his weaker foot so that he's not as predictable on the right.
If he does these 2 things then he has literally everything else needed to be an elite winger.
As things are Garna and Rashford both have better Physicality, better weaker feet and have increased their defensive work rates so there's really not much of an argument for getting Amad in ahead of either of them ATMIT™
Stop it. What physicality? Not every player needs to do that. Would you say the same about Bernado Silva? Odegaard? No. What he needs is to play. But this manager cant manage rotation of players properly

You completely ignored my point. Not all players need to do is what i said. How would you know if those players would muscle him off the ball? Those two players i named are small players compared to others but that doesnt affect them because they have good technically ability. Thats why players like Yamal and Neymar flourish. And Plus, diallo played in the Championship which is way more physical and did good.

Garanacho I have to disagree with. Yes he is determined and dribbles at players but he doesn't actually get around them and even if he ends up in a good position he makes the wrong choice. He is capable of spectacular things sure, but so was Januzaj. Last night he actually thought he was Ronaldo and, for me at least, that needs knocking out of him soon. If he wants those privlages he has to earn them first.

Ten Hag inherited a rag bag of players it was time for a massive clear out so far he has got rid of most of that lot. We have had Two Top Top coaches who have failed despite the successes they had elsewhere, Ten Hag had great success at Ajax, this season is the first one since he arrived at the club where he has a group of people charged with getting the club up off its knees. I was one of those people who waited 26 years for United to get back to the top and enjoyed those times and I also remember supporters asking for Ferguson to be sacked after two years but thankfully Martin Edwards did not listen. If Ten Hag has not turned the club around by Christmas then I will accept that he needs to go ( personally I would have given him till the end of the season) so let’s all take a step back a big breath and at least give him that chance.

Hence one of our most consistent. Either way, he deserves far more respect than he gets from many of our most vocal fans

I wouldn't particularly disagree with the assessments but I would have given them 0.5 more for each player (apart from Antony whom I would have given 5 instead of 5.5).

disagree with lindelof and ugarte, yes at fault for the goal but thought he was tidy on the ball. ugarte, gets about well but late to some challenges which left us exposed at the back and extremely limited on the ball.
So many of these close matches have come down to individual lapses. Lindeloff on the header and Dalot missing an easy assist.
