    Thanks Nick, that was good.Great aerial placement too. I find with 12V wiring, after stripping the end I twist the sheath a little before pulling it off completely and that wraps the wire strands so they stay together and don't end up with a single strand sticking out waiting for the opportunity to blow the fuse.

    pro tip:
    If you are wanting to have power when your ignition is on, use a relay attached to an accessory wire under the ignition, can also be found with the stereo, this won't use much load so don't worry about it blowing the stereo fuse, and on the other side of the relay you can have the direct power to the battery and leading that to the CB radio (slap a fuse under the bonnet for it) and now your radio will be powered on whenever your ignition is on and won't drain the battery when the starter motor kicks on for the second.

    This is the best walk-through/install video I have seen..... The tips that you give regarding usability are so well thought through (i.e. extra length of cable in case bull bar needs to come off / positioning of handset cable so it doesn't get in the way)... brilliant!! I'll be making good use of your tips when doing my install! Thank You.

    Perfect timing, I have a similar model on order. Detachable handset was critical so it can not take up any visible space when I don't need it.

    Good video Nick, but ask your passenger what they think about looking thru a "bloody great Telephone pole" as they look forward... Far better option for touring is the "five eighth over a half " wavelength antenna, around 4.5 Dbi. Two construction types, fibreglass but I much preferred the wire construction, fitted hundreds over a long installation career, and become " invisible" after a very short time looking forward. Also you very nearly bend your bull bar before those big springs flex.....Just some food for thought for your viewers..

    Hi Nick, Does the antenna have to be grounded to the bull bar or not? Because I see there is quite a good coating of paint on the antenna where it gets mounted/screwed onto the bull bar bracket. Thanks

    Nice to see you have a decent crimp tool, but you used the wrong jaw. You should have the blue crimp in the blue jaw, red in red jaw and yellow in the yellow. That way the correct tension is applied ensuring a good mechanical joint.

    I brought my cable for the hand piece out underneath the climate control as there is a small gap underneath. The cable against my leg got quiet annoying.

    Hey Nick. Thanks for the information on this unit. I have been looking to get a UHF for a while now and I really like the dual channel feature. Out of curiosity, what tyres have you been using and have you had any issues with any particular brand. I still have original tyres but they will be up for replacement soon.

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 роки тому

      Hey Kelly! Im running Atturo Trailblade M/T tyres. They are a great offroad tyre, i havnt had any punctures. They are really noisy on the road though and slippery in the wet. I will try another brand of tyres next, probably toyo or falken.

    Nick, where did you get yours from? I thought you might be running with a coupon/discount code, like with the X9 throttle controller...so far eBay is the best radio and antenna, $602.

      I got mine directly off the Oricom website. They do have sales going on, so i would keep an eye out over the next month on there facebook page. Or send them a message on there website saying that you saw my video and what your after and I'm sure they would price match or give you a good deal 😊

    I hate when people call an antenna an aerial. They are not the same thing. Aerials are only receive, like am/fm radio or TV. Antennas receive and transmit, like the uhf Antenna.
