Chris Pratt and Jack Carr earned my respect and admiration I’ve come to appreciate The Terminal List series as a masterclass in good writing and good storytelling
What Jack said is so true haha. My grandfather (also named Jack whom I was named after) lied about his age at 17 to join. Not sure how exactly he went about doing that but my grandmother when she was around would always tell me he was so excited to get to travel and see other parts of the world. She said he didn't talk much about the war at all when he came home (thank you God). She said he didn't complain once and immediately would come home from work to help out with the kids. That generation truly is something special. Beautiful sacrifices they made for us all here in America.
I've been holding my breath for the next two series to drop on NF! Bummed how long it's taking, but understand the strike played a considerable part. I wish the Katie B character in the TV adaptation aligned with the book, especially considering Reece's redemption is impacted by finding love and purpose. In the end, the books and TV series are AMAZING!
The PRC film market is so huge, and that's why I assume the screen KB role was cast as it was. They could have made a Chinese Katie the daughter of a PRC surgeon that extracted info from CCP bigwigs undergoing surgery that defected to the USA, perhaps while transplanting organs stolen from political prisoners into those CCP bigwigs...but the PRC censors would never have allowed that story to be shown in the PRC. Money talks.
Yes, I agree about the Katie changes, but since my earlier reply was deleted, I'll just say that there's a HUGE market in another country that I think they wanted the screen adaptation to establish a beachhead in, and that's why they radically changed the character's back story and that of her family.
I haven't read the books yet but if season 1 randomly threw in a love plot between the two of them, I'd have dropped the show. Man was on a mission to avenge his family and his brothers, that would have been a distraction and in very poor taste after he saw his wife and daughter laying on the kitchen floor. Maybe in a later season if they seed the romance in an organic way, but just throwing them together would be a mistake.
I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Chris Pratt while working Security for a large Christian event at a fairly large event arena. I was just told a VIP was coming in through the loading area for talent and production and to let them down immediately. So when he pulled up i was admittedly star struck and said something stupid like "you look really familiar" and he just reached out and shook my hand and introduced himself like a gentleman. He didnt have to do that and most celebrities wouldnt (i worked around a lot of them) but you could tell he is just a humble and grounded guy who doesnt act like hes better than everyone. Coworker i was working that post with told me later the truck he was in was a Raptor. Found that funny considering at the time the new jurassic park just came out 😅 Glad hes had such a successful run. Good christian folks are a rarity in Hollywood.
Prequel?! I was wanting a sequel! To see Reece move forward in his life after the horrific tragedy of his family's murders, and take down other bad guys. I thought he was going to end up sailing to Africa on that boat and fighting the animal poachers as some veterans have done.
Sobering to think in less than 10 years, all the WWII veterans will likely have passed on and we will have lost that human connection to that era and generation. It saddens me. Their sacrifices should never be forgotten
If they go with Jesus they will meet their lost brothers in heaven! Eternal peace and rest. What is beautiful is they will all meet again young and words can’t describe the joy they will feel.
While it is sad in a way, some of these great men and women also lived very long lives after going through the horrors of WW2. It's the ones that never made it back home that should bring sadness, the march of time claims all in the end but many never got to experience that for themselves in their sacrifice for us.
Saw the show first, then did the books. I like and appreciate both versions for different reasons. I am curious to see how they are going to go about putting the scale of the second book to the screen. The book takes us through a lot of big events and places, I hope they don't end up gutting the story too much. The 4th book in my opinion was the least good. If I had to rank them best to 'worst'(they're all decent good reads): 1, 2, 6, 3, 5, 4.
Chris Pratt I love all the things you do movie wise AND I love what you stand for outside of your movies. Much love. Reading the third terminal list book right now both of you don't stop giving us James Reece !
One of my favourite things about him as reece was his movement with weapons. He genuinely looked the part of military with how he moved and cleared buildings.
The best blooper I ever saw for Parks & Rec was where Pratt launches a briefcase across a room and wrecks a light switch, then he breaks into a little song & dance about it not being fixable. It makes me wonder if anything similar happened on the set of Terminal List hahaha!
John Howard is the lawyer!! They should do a prequel of Tom Reece. That would freaking rock. I'm reading the series for the third time. Talking about WW2 veterans. I saw Band of Brothers and they had interviews of the actual guys from the 101st and I remember so strongly the guy who said, "Our town was about 2000 people and every man volunteered and there were 4 guys who were (4Effed or DQed or whatever it was called), and they committed suicide because they couldn't go. Different times."
JACK: "What research did you do about James Reece's medical problems" CHRIS: "Well, I typed his symptoms into the thing up here and it says he could have network connectivity problems!"
I burn through Jack’s books like the cure to cancer is in them. I work as a set medic in Hollywood and would give almost anything to work on production for any of the upcoming seasons. Coolest crew making some of the best content in the biz right now!!!
This show and Reacher were pleasant surprises on Amazon. Now that Reacher is DOA, I am doubly excited to see season two. Keep it great. True Believer is the best of the sequel books. Waiting for Red Sky Mourning to release in a month.
My favorite actor in the business paired with the best author in the business. He was awesome in Zero Dark Thirty, so I knew he would be good as James Reece. Funny as hell in Guardians, what a versatile dude. Stands for what he stands for (which I agree with) and could care less what the soft-Lib pseudo warriors think. Love it.
The only thing I really didn't like about the show that's different from the book is casting of Katie. She is supposed to be a very beautiful blonde woman. No offense to Constance Wu she's a great actress but the underline attraction between the two isn't there especially the relationship they end up having in later books. True Believer is my favorite book of the series so far followed by The Devil's Hand. Really excited for the future of the series. 🙂
I’m just so glad they stuck with the mini-series. Amazon absolutely butchered Without Remorse, which would have been so easy to update to more modern times. The movie was such an abysmal autopsy of an absolutely brilliant thriller/book.
For me 2020 was extremely special Reenlisting after having been out for 8 years. Something id never would have thought about doing. The Tomorrow War released Independence Day 2021 inspired the hell out of me. Not that I've ever been special operations but being healthy and having more to give is all that is needed. FAFO 🇺🇸
My only gripes for TL: - they color edited the whole thing extremely dark. To the point it’s almost impossible to see what’s happening on screen. -They mis-cast Katie’s character. Totally wrong actress for the role and was a clear DEI addition. -Kitsch was so solid as Ben that I’m bummed he’s gone from the future of the series.
Been watching S1. Maybe tell the DP to work with lighting instead of against it. Even outside shots are dark as hell. I know it's a trend but it's a trend people hate.
The talk about set mentality makes me think of Tombstone. I’ve read and seen interviews that the director issues nearly yanked the whole movie. The quality actors saved it I guess.
Jack - please, PLEASE pass on the show film editing was WAAAY too dark! I’m rewatching the series now and it’s so hard to see anything. It’s honestly distracting as a viewer and takes away from the great story.
Soft days? you're also ignoring the corruption and lies of the military industrial complex being exposed more and more over the decades. WW2, people actually fought and died for a reason-now its die for big dollars and corporate interest.
@@BattleBrotherCasten Look at the way they left Afghanistan in a near-rout, which it looks like they're prepping to do again in Niger on a much smaller scale.

My uncle wrote the intro song (Mississippi Twilight - Trigger) so I'm biased towards the soundtrack too 🤣
It’s a really great series. One of my favorite shows right now along with Stranger Things and all of Taylor Sheridan’s shows
The Terminal List is one of the best shows I’ve seen in many years. Thank you. Jesus bless!

My grandfather did the same thing sort of, he forged his mother’s signature to do the early enlistment at 17, he eventually became a Green Beret

My MAN!!!!! One of the few actors in Hollywood I legit like and admire.
I'm on the fourth book. As good of a job as I think Chris did, nothing is better, imo, than the theatre of the mind one gets from reading the books.
With well-written text, your mind's eye is more vivid and immersive than any cinematography or SFX can ever be.
I enjoyed the series, but loved the book. I’m looking forward to future shows.
