It looks fine and all, but I keep wondering if you've fitted the first brass piece wrong.. Looks like it would fit the blade better if you flipped it 180 degrees
A cheap reproduction for tourists. stamped steel with brass fittings. the precisely cut notches on the tang should have clued you in that was nothing more than a repackaged kitchen knife.
It’s not very old or very good steel. It’s a cheap $40 blade you can tell by the groves cut into the tang. They are not evenly spaced and different depths. Also this “rust” was very minor surface rust this means it’s a poor quality steel that the guy making the video probably left in water for a week then left to dry. This is why the wood was split yet you could see the perfect outline of the blade like the blade was not removed very many times. It’s probably a decorative piece purchased from eBay or a street vendor for $40.

This is not tanto(短刀） I think , this is dosu. It's not shaoed like a tanto and no blade pattern(刃紋）

nothing, that blade is rusty af, maybe would tear the glove because of the rust itself but not the edge sharpness

that might be differentially hardened steel. I kept looking for the hamon, if it is a quick vinegar bath would make it pop.

To get the brass pieces clean, just soak them in lemon juice for 15-30 minutes

Most are and there is no pattern on the Hamon (hardening pattern) extending to the Ha (edge).

一目見て模造刀(モデルソード)かなと思いました。
無名の刀も沢山ありますが、茎(なかご:手に持つ部分)の形が別物です。
柄(つか:手で握る部分)からの抜け防止にヤスリ目と目釘が一般的ですが、横にギザギザとグラインダーの刃で切り込み入れたような切れ目でしたよね。
鐔(つば:刀身と柄の境目に有る手をガードする部分)も素人レベルです。
刃紋は付いてなく、おそらく折り返し鍛造じゃない形だけを真似たやつかもしれませんね。
本物なら2000$以上しますので、ここまで錆びさせないと思いますよ？ww

с первых кадров видно что это не японский танто. Это можно назвать реставрацией ржавого ножа, но никак не танто.

そしてバフもかけてはいけない。日本の刃物はある程度の摩擦が無いと切れ味が悪くなる。バフでそこまで
地肌を滑らかにしたら切れ味が相当落ちてしまうし波紋も消えてしまう。
西洋の刃物と同じ扱いをしても真価は発揮できません。見た目だけで良いのであれば日本の本物の短刀を
使う必要はないかと思います。
