Thank you much for this, I was taking my fan apart to clean it properly and my incorrectly inserted spring popped out before I could see where it belonged. This video is super helpful.
Thank you Frazer! I just bought a €30 fan and after assembling the item found the head wasn't tilting up and down. I followed your tutorial which was very clear, precise, informative and gets to the point fast so I decided to give it a go. It works! I was able to fix the spring but saw another issue with the fan, there was a crack next to where the spring sits into so I think the plastic is too weak to hold the spring. Although fan is tilting up and down now, to be on the safe side and peace of mind, I think I'll return the fan to the shop and get a replacement because of the internal crack. Thank you for your fantastic tutorial!
Thank you very much for this video! I just bought a Hurricane fan and the tilt would not hold. I took it apart per your video and was able to bend the strong spring and now the tilt holds. Would not have tried adjusting the spring without your video. Thanks again.
Thank you for making this video, just got a new fan after breaking my old one. Currently a heat wave so I was worried I’d have to return it but your video was perfect for the issue. Great explanation and demonstration and I don’t even have the same brand of fan!
You might want to make a note about EYE PROTECTION when dealing with a spring that is not fully mounted. That thing can do some serious and permanent damage.
A+++ Thanks for this very helpful video. Our fan's tilt mechanism was broken and your instructions were on the money. 10 minutes and the fan is working like new. Note: the 1/4" x 1" curved metal piece with the series of holes had also broken from its mooring and a small piece of the plastic holding it had broken off. I cleaned off all the lubricant, dabbed a little Gorilla cement in the unbroken end of the plastic slot, and the metal doohickey slid right in and stayed in place.
Thank you for this. I have the same issue with the fan I bought. I was going to return it but had issues with some drop-off centers not having code scanners. I'll try to fix the fan now.
Have the same crazy problem with my fan will give it a go tomorrow. Didn't think I'd find anything about this problem buy hey, what do you know... Tks man!
Thank you so much I actually took my fan apart to paint it and when I put it back together it looked so sad because I had not put that spring in correctly so the head only faced downward. So thank you thank you
Thanks so much for the video, very helpful…… There is a little string and and tiny rod that came off from that black hole, I don’t know what to do with them please and how to fix them back, without them, the fan still works and rotate but I noticed I can’t manually control the direction the fan is facing anymore by pulling the head, I have to lift the fan to change direction now… I will appreciate if you can tell where to put those string thing pls
Thanks for this. I have a similar fan but is a tall pedestal rather than a desk one. It has a pin that pops into various places on a line of shallow holes to support the tilt. The pin had fallen out and I put it back in. I couldn't fit the spring back in and align with the screw so I actually took the spring out and the tilt is now working. I wonder what the spring was doing. I presume just extra support.
Thats what I'm having problems with i don't think its caused by the spring if it springs back up its doing its job right. The problem is as you've said, here it seems that on top of the little spring there's some kind of black rubber that keeps it tilted how you want. I don't have a rubber part though its just a tiny piece of metal that sits in the little spring. So mine isn't gripping.
Hey Frazer dude! I’m having a problem with my ceiling fan and i’m hoping you can help me out. It’s a wall fan, similar to yours just with a wall mount and two strings attached at the bottom of it. One for fan speed and the other for rotation. I can only stop my fan spinning only if it’s positioned frontwards or rightwards but not leftwards. Any chance you know how to solve this issue? Thanks a lot x
I literally just threw my fan into a ditch when the tilt thingy broke, lol. Then I put it back in the box and got my free Amazon return. F*ck fixing cheap crap.
help i followed the video and it made it worse! 😞😣 i had your initial problem with it not staying in position, but i could hear it catch. when i opened it up, the spring was in the correct position. i pushed it back, put it in the hole and screwed the fan back together. now when i tilt it, it doesn’t even make the catching sound, just shoots straight back up :(
@@FrazerForbes1 sadly there's a small part of plastic broken , the part where i should hold the ballbearing on each end ,everytime i tried to slide it in , it was too loose , the ball end up dropping to the base of the fan and i had to open the base to retrieve the ball, but no matter how many times i tried it won't hold in place, it had to be small part plastic that was broken off, But anyway thanks for your time.

I CANT REASSEMBLE IT, THE HOLE WONT ALIGN WITH THE SCREW IM SO DEAD MY DADS WILL BE HOME TOMORROW 😭😭😭
I have an Orient pedestal fan. TERRIBLE DESIGN. I couldn't even pop those plastic things away , they literally make this unrepairable and this broke
mine are different model/type , when i open it up , theres 2 ball bearing and a spring came off , now i can't do anything about it :(

I came here looking for literally the opposite problem on a standing fan. Once it starts oscillating, the head drops down.
The fan has viagra
THANK you!
