Great to hear a current review on bju distance learning! I did bju for every single subject for every single grade of my life. Lol! I did it back in the days when you set up a satellite dish outside your home and they would broadcast each subject at a certain time and you had to make sure you recorded it at the right time 😅
We are using BJU press since we started homeschooling. We love it, very impressed with the curriculum!
We are using BJU this coming year for the first time with my 9th and 10th graders. We will be using history, English/lit, vocabulary, and their new consumer math. I am so excited to have a subject matter expert teach my kids!
We have used BJU for years in our homeschool however this year we are trying a lot of the distance learning options 😳 little nervous but will give it all up to God! Spanish 1 is one of them 😍. Thanks for all the insight 🥰
We did BJU’s 2nd & 3rd grade math this past year and loved it. Excited to try out the distant learning someday.
Most of the lab kits contain enough supplies for up to 4 students. So, you *should* have enough for all of your kiddos to go through the same kit eventually. That helps to offset the cost!!
So helpful! Thankyou!!!! I always appreciate your comments on my channel!
Thank you for sharing!!! Happy and blessed Tuesday!
I am using BJU for my kindergartener this fall. I’m planning to teach it myself, but I have heard good things about the DLO.
I've always been curious about BJU. Great info! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing about your experience with BJU! I’ve been struggling with finding my 10th grader a good physical science curriculum, so I will need to look at theirs! I was thinking maybe masterbooks but I haven’t seen a lot of reviews.
We are using BJU Press next year for 3rd and 6th grade Math, Heritage Studies, and English. My mom and dad homeschool my kids, so we are doing the teacher led option, not the distance learning. I’m so excited for them! ❤️
This will be our first year with BJU distance learning. (6th grade) We're coming from Abeka and are hoping for a slower pace. We'll also be looking into the science kit for next year as well. Thanks for the video! ❤
We are doing almost all BJU Press this year. My moderate dyslexic 4th grader needed to go back to All About Reading, and we had used some BJU years ago- went back this year to all distance learning using the DVD’s. This not
Only gives me more one on one with my 4th grader but when she does all other classes the videos really help her gain independence in other areas. My 8th grader is doing Spanish 1 this year!
We love everything we've tried from BJU. I actually just placed my $1800 order today. 4 kids, lots of DVD curses and 8 journey forth books. Cannot wait to get it and put it all together! Second year with them and we're all super impressed!
We are trying a few classes this year with the distance learning option!
Love BJU English, Reading, and Spelling. We’ve never tried the distance learning but definitely will when the kids get older.
Thank you so much! Can’t wait to try out their Science for 8th grade 😁
Thank you so much I'm considering this for my 8th grader but 30-60 mins per class seems a bit much. I think I will be doing the same thing you're doing and just doing language and science with them maybe math too. And doing something else for the other subjects. We have 8 children and 6 of them are homeschooling and I like for my 3rd grader and 8th grader to do bible study and history together. I think I will be also sticking to lang arts/ literature with the good and the beautiful. Idk this is a lot to consider. Lol tryna prepare for 2023-2024 school year.
I think you mean BJU is in South Caroline! Pensacola is the college in FL! (Both have been at the forefront of homeschool curriculum since it wasn't a popular choice!)
Look up at HomeWorks Precepts BJU press consultant--you get so many deals going through them. I have a consultant near my area I could share with you, if need be, too! Thanks for your videos! We use BJU math and spelling. Like you, I don't want all to be online, but it is nice for me to be able to bounce between kids and assist them. I have 6. We love your videos! Thanks for doing this!
Very informative. Just what I needed
I had no idea that BJU had a distance learning/video option! How great! That reminds me of A Beka. We have a few friends who use the disks/videos with A Beka and they love it.
Since they keep up with the students grades throughout the course do you also receive a report card at the end of the year?
Love this!! Great video. Say you don’t want to have your child do all 180 lessons do you edit it in the homeschool hub? Or is it something that you just have to verbally tell them to skip? when I first heard the price a few months ago I thought $350 was expensive but … honestly with everything you get for the full year its an incredible deal!!
It’s incredible! The information and quality. If I want them to skip they just verbally hear from me. But we don’t do that often 💗
@@GraceandGrit perfect!! thank you so much dear!!
What classes did your daughter use for 8th grade with BJU? My daughter will be in 7th this upcoming year and I’m still tousling around with science and possibly language arts with BJU.
How to send their test / standardized test to bju?
There's a website, Home Science Tools that sells science kit supplies. I do not know if you could piece together what you needed from there for cheaper or if they have all you need, but maybe it's worth a look?
Yes! Try home science tools! You can customize your kit and remove the items you may have already.
May I ask why you switched from Sonlight for higher grades?
Did you like this better than teaching textbooks (if you've done teaching textbooks? I feel like you have but I may be thinking of someone else)?
Check out Home Education Resources. We got our Science 4 kit from there and it included EVERYTHING. I'm not sure if the price is lower but it includes more than the other lab kit.
With you having access for 18 months, could you technically get away with having one kid go through the course and then have your next kid go through after them (in two 9-month "sessions")? Obviously for a subject that would not be grade-specific... Or are you locked out of the lessons after you complete them? Just curious! My oldest is not even school age yet, so this is more of a curiosity thing than really needing to know specifics...
You are not locked out once one child finishes. You have use of the videos for your family until the time period you bought them for is up.
No you can’t reuse.
Speaking specifically about Spanish, did you use the course as is or did you edit things out to shorten lessons? When you said it's a lot, it definitely is a lot. I'm considering all options such as just having my son work at his pace and do an hour per day however much that means, doing the entire lesson (which takes a very long time) and considered skipping tests also. Did you modify it at all for your kids?
No I didn’t. They do 1 lesson per day no matter how long it takes. But it’s never been beyond 45min - 1 hour which is appropriate for my childrens ages and grade levels.
This video came at a perfect time because I'm looking for a Spanish program for my 10th grader and this was one I was looking at! Does this program start at the basics, like how to say the vowels and alphabet, for someone that knows nothing about Spanish? I know enough to help but I want my son to learn it from someone else! Thank you! 😊❤️
We have used Bible Truths K and this coming year grade 2. This year we’re trying English 2. If it wasn’t quite so expensive I would maybe use Heritage Studies, Science and Spelling. 🤷🏻♀️
Glad to hear you liked it!
BJU is in Greenville SC or at least it was when I went there. I know they had an affiliate university in Pensacola Florida called Pensacola Christian University. Did they merge?
Yeah, BJU is SC....small thing, but from the south and immediately was like....what, what?! Lol!
Pensacola Christian College and BJU are not affiliated at all. Pretty strong rivalry there actually. BJU actually did start in Florida decades ago and moved to South Carolina. Just a little history for ya!
