Hi, lovely music, maybe I could find this elsewhere, just starting to examine norns/grids, what is the sound source here? Have you loaded a piano sample into Norns or is it already a part of the script?
I think it's a mix of piano from my DAW, with some other sounds from Disting EX (can also do piano samples), and a synth voice. A lot has changed since this early version of the script. The latest version has the ability to work with various "Nota Bene (nb)" voices. Currently those are mostly designed to communicate with external devices or are synth engines that generate audio from Norns. Yesterday I happened to stumble upon a sampled piano nb voice that someone is working on that really impressed me, but I think it's still a work-in-progress and is not publicly released.
Thanks very much for this incredible Script, I am exploring it. Meanwhile that computer keyboard how it’s being as midi input with Norns ? Also can you please name the computer keyboard please ? , thanks
The keyboard is OLKB Planck. Ableton live has an option to play MIDI using a computer keyboard, which you can send to Norns using a Denki Oto 2host. Keyboards like this can also be programmed with QMK to output MIDI directly but I have not tried it, personally.
Thanks for the info. With respect to the script can I route the midi from chord to one midi device (let’s say midi device 1 connected to Norns ) and sequence to another midi device (Device 2) , I tried changing the voice midi destination but it only show the first midi device 1.1 for both chord and sequence. Please advise. Thanks
@@ajilful Yes, make sure you have configured your MIDI ports in the system>>MIDI menu. If you need to send to different channels on one MIDI port, check out the "Configuring MIDI channels" section here: github.com/dstroud/dreamsequence/blob/main/README.md#preferences
Will this work with the VCV adaptation of Monome? I understand that many of the scripts will, but I really don't understand this particular musical ecosystem, as to what may be compatible and what won't. Great work btw.
Not exactly. Dreamsequence runs on Norns which has not been ported to VCV. You CAN run my similar (but simpler) Teletype scripts, Minim and Subsequence, in VCV rack since they run on Teletype and Grid which have been ported. I believe Minim is going to be added as one of the default scenes/scripts in the near future but for now you’ll have to add the scene yourself. You can find those at github.com/dstroud
M3*6+6 nylon spacers/standoffs. I really don't like this hack because some of the PCB is exposed and I'm afraid of shorting something out with a patch cable 😕
Any MIDI to CV interface should work. Crow can do some handy things like give scripts direct control over envelope shapes or output specific voltages/triggers/gates, etc... but it's not necessary for making notes.
@@ModularBeat oh ok. Very good to know thank you for the information. I was always curious what crow really even did and what the major features it offered rather than just being a midi connection to modular. I have been trying to get my hands on a new norns from monome as i heard the shield can be a bit noisy but orders are never available when i check out their site.
@@joeymc5272 Crow is super powerful and well worth picking up. If you can't find an official Norns, I can recommend the shieldXL by denki oto. I've noticed no noise issues with mine (but haven't really gone looking for it, either).
I love falling asleep next to my little girl with Norns scripts playing in the background! :)
Super cute haha
That's Awesome!
wow.. thank you so much for this video. All your videos are little gems from which I always learn. Thank you for your dedication and generosity
You are too kind. Thanks for the continued support my friend.
This looks like a super usable, exciting script! Thanks!
Very nice! will try it for sure

Wow. There goes my weekend…!!!!
Really impressive script!

@@ModularBeat Cool. Thanks for the help.
what did you use to fit the disting on that palette?

Crow is impossible to get :(
Yeah it’s a shame- supposed to be a new batch of them in June though 🤞
And to think I was contemplating messaging your bicycle IG account to make sure you’re still alive and doing nerd shit ❤
Never not nerding. Just hibernating 😉. Good to hear from you buddy.
Do you have to have crow to use Norns with your modular or can you use any midi to CV interface?
