    Your site states that 26 paintings in this exhibit are on loan from the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation. How were these Spanish colonial paintings typically acquired by private collectors in America? Were they originally shipped to South America and the Caribbean from Spain or created on site? Would the Church have benefitted from such sales of artwork, or would the iconic ones have been created for wealthy patrons to display at their estates?
