That guitar solo at 7:12 actually gets me emotional. I remember on the level with the snow and Lu Bu, someone would suddenly scatter someone's forces. Morale would be dropping and you'd have to run all the way to the other side of the map whilst that music was playing to support your troops just getting smashed by like 3 enemy captains
I have this memory of my mom coming in my room late at night (it's coming back to me as I write this) making me study for a geography test in 4th or 5th grade. Usually she would have told me to turn the game off but she decided to quiz me on the 50 states while she watched me play. I just remember it being fun. Little did I know I'd lose her a year later in an accident. I still remember exactly what level it was too - Changban Bridge.

I had two roommates in college who I played this with every weekend. We had this and Battlefront 2. We spent hundreds of hours playing those two games. Such good memories.
At 12:23 it sounds like a lady is saying "Dr. Carter, you have a visitor in the main lobby. Dr. Carter, you have a visitor in the main lobby."

This game was awesome for it's time. One of the strongest points was the soundtrack. Gravity particularly in this soundtrack was balls to the wall awesome. Although I think these themes are stronger and less diluted than the later games (6&7&8)
chris tinson The fights and all the soldiers etc just inspiered me when I was 8. These Games were so good and are still good.
Still the best music of the series imo.

DW1 was just a demo. An alpha. A teaser of whst there is to come. Tekken rip off? That's ok.
DW2 is where it truly begins

Dynasty Warriors 1 and 2 dont even belong to the same series, they fucked it up on the west by putting this 2. Since then we are always one game ahead of the japanese releases ( DW 3 - Shin Sangoku Musou 2, and so on)
I'd say DW3 was the true starting point, 2 feels like a beta version of 3 given that there's only 8 stages and pretty much everything is carried over or reworked for the sequel.

@Sima Yi you seriously think 8 is the best? I would argue 7 is better than 8 but 3,5, and 6 definitely are in top 5
@Sima Yi I can argue that 8 was a remake of 7 but I see your point. To me 3 and 4 was a big difference. To me there are 3 different types of dynasty warriors games. 2 and 3 being classic. 4 and 5 being improved classics and 6,7,8 being being heavily story driven. 6 could've been the best dynasty warriors imo if there wasn't so many cloned weapons, removed characters and like you said the renbu system (which i didn't mind too much). 6 tried to combine the old and the new but failed. 9 uh 9 was just a failure. It may be better than 6 but I would play 6 any day over 9. Terrible voice acting, lack of cutscenes it could've been better. 4 I partially like but I still haven't played 5 yet. So when it comes down to it 3 is my favorite because it's the 1st one i played. There's a lot of things I don't like about 4. 5 I haven't played. 6 has many flaws but it's my second favorite. 7 I haven't played in a while so I don't remember much. 8 is probably the best modern one but I still highly prefer 3 or 6. 2 is 3 without voice acting for the most part so really can't compare that.
i have to say although 3 was an epic game and certainly a lot of people favorites, DW2 will always be better for me because it was the start of the franchise and is what got my into playing all the other games. AWESOME
2 would be alright if officers and generals didn’t heal themselves infinitely
oh the feels :3 getting that 1000 K.O. with Guan Yu on every map I could.. slaughter them lieutenants and gate guards

All these songs remind me of Hard mode = your unit's morale dropping officers saying "i must do something" "these guys are tough" enemy unit's morale is skyrocketing "the commander is in danger" good times

I think in flames sounds a little better in this game than the 3rd one, but the 3rd ones yi ling stage on shu side is literally one of my favorite stages to play on dynasty warriors to this day. I wish they would bring back old stages from the games not just the music like put them in hd as dlc for the 9th game or something

I think the game and music gets worser as the series progresses,this version has the best music,cannot believe ive still have the ps2 dw2 cd with me.I don't like the over the top musou in the recent dws.Thanks for uploading this gem Mr NeroPecore,you have my gratitude.

Imo the best Dynasty warriors intro for sure and even though the soundtrack is mostly the same for 3 s few songs did sound better in 2 like chi bi power and glory.
2:58 reminds me of Mind by System of a Down.
I agree with others, the music seems to have been softened, but i can see why. many people muted there TV to play this game because it simply was to difficult for them to bear. but meh. i agree that this had the best music in all the series. hope they bring it back.

dw3 and dw2 have lot of similarity
I don't know I think they have been pretty good. 3,4,5,6 and 7 had some good licks and riffs. I don't think Dynasty Warriors 8 has the best music but the others were pretty good. As far as gameplay, I think they have come a long way from only have 4 hits to a moveset and only being able to turn when you stop attacking lol. Overall they all have great quality's.
