    “If you can get a little happiness from a mushroom....”.....haha, what are you trying to tell us Annette?....just kidding, but that just made me laugh so hard.....loved this video. so many great questions everyone had. Thanks for sharing...and I think you guys would totally rock the PCT.

      Ha! I though that sounded funny when I watched the video too. I wish I knew enough about mushrooms to know which ones have psychedelic properties and which ones are edible. As it is, i just get joy from their fantastic shapes and colors.

    Coming from Australia I honestly don't think a complete thru hike is viable for me. So I'm compiling a highlights list from each of your big 3 hikes, that I might be able to knock over in 3 or 4 months. I'm with you Netty.🐢🇦🇺👣💚

    You provide good, honest advice. For most of my 2018 thru hike, I walked alone. Negative people will set you back. There was a cold rainy night at a crowded shelter in the Smoky Mountains. Most of the hikers had that desperate look in their eyes that said, "I want to go home." I had to look away. There are many ways to thru hike. I chose not to slack pack and limit my use of the many hostels. You can design your hike to provide yourself with the level of comfort needed. So, enjoy yourself, make memories and Hike Your Own Hike!

    Thanks ladies!!! You answer some questions I didn't know I needed to know!!!🤣🤣 I am looking forward to the next video!!! I'm starting to get excited about my adventure but like you said Kristy, you didn't know what was coming, I do with my failed attempt in 2018. Yet I think knowing also helps you relax because you learn so much about yourself, gear and the Trail. Thanks again!!! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!❤❤❤

    I have loved your videos. Loved your answers about being in the moment.... If it's raining, it's just raining... If your going up hill don't hate it, it's just a hill...
    It's all in your mind as to how you handle it. You three are an inspiration 😁

    Wow you had some awesome questions! Fascinating! Ive enjoyed this. And yes sounds like you made the Wildcats harder than it needed to be. They were steep, but probably not worth 18 miles up and down.
    Thank you!

    Annette could follow Kristy, and Lynn on the other long distance trails with the RV. Help with resupplies. Then join them on the sections she wants to do.

    Thanks ladies! Hoping for the Dirty Girl Gators for Christmas 😁. Thanks for the tick update. That’s my biggest fear so plan to treat monthly with permethrin👍 which seemed to work for you. Wonder if that kept the mosquitoes & black flies away🤔.

    • @demelar
      @demelar 4 роки тому +1

      You know, I think it really did help with mosquitoes. It's not a big hassle to take care of it at a hostel or parking lot, etc. We might as well do all we can do to protect ourselves, right?

    Great questions, awesome answers. No whining policy is a life win. We avoided shelters on our section hike because of stories about the mice. Good to know that wasn't an issue at all for you!

    Thanks for this. I didn't remember that the bugs weren't bad for you guys. They are one of the things (along with humidity) that would drive me absolutely crazy. I would def carry a bug net and I'd use Deet on the worst days. Quite a few thru-hikers who post videos on UA-cam have their days where the bugs are relentless. I can relate with them on those days. My biggest questions are about the PF Lynn overcame but you'll probably cover how she did that in your stretching video. I've had it before and don't want to ever get it again. She handled it well.
    P. S. When it's really hot and humid I stick my head under cold water to cool off. I'd be sticking my head in every stream or body of water that we passed ! Other's might laugh but it actually works for me.

    • @demelar
      @demelar 4 роки тому +2

      Stream dunking is legit! Whatever it takes to stay even a tiny bit cooler.

      Wander Women Kristy, Annette & Lynn Thank you. We are planning our AT thru hike for 2020. I have been trying to find a good pair of zip off pants for the versatility and with good reviews. How were they for the different weather conditions on the trail?

    I know you had lots of question and I did not send you any questions. BUT, I have one now. I have been watching others and they say to keep your puffy with your sleeping gear and wear only when in camp. So, that means you have to have two jackets? One to hike in and one to sleep in. Is this correct? I will be hiking in February 2021 and it will probably be cold. Help this southern girl. LOL

    • @wanderwomenkristyannette5021
      @wanderwomenkristyannette5021  4 роки тому +1

      You do want to keep your puffy dry. On really cold mornings I did hike in mine, only if it wasn't raining or I was heading to town for a zero. Or I would just wear it for the first couple of hours. I did bring a rain jacket for a warm layer and hiked in that. We are going to do a gear review and will show what we brought. The most important thing is to always have warm dry clothes at night. Best of luck to you!!
