I'm so happy that I grew up with games of this calibre. I got LTTP for Xmas 1992 and spent most of that school holidays playing through it a few times. I was 12 at the time and I'd only stop playing for food, sleep or football. Almost a flawless game. The visuals, the music, the characters, the weapons, the bosses, the seemingly endless things to do. Just a sublime game.
Im sure it was expensive a gift at the time I would think it would have been around 50-60 dollars at launch price must have been a very happy child at Christmas kids these days have no idea what it was like growing up in the 80s and 90s
the gameplay is somehow locked in the recesses of my mind, when i used to go to blockbuster and rent it and it even came with the instruction booklet. I often go back to my snes console and play my old games for nostalgia purposes, when life was easier and i had nothing to worry about. I long to reconnect with those times. I know I will never experience that lifestyle again, but i at least still have those memories.
i remember coming home from school and jumping right in bed to play this game instead off doing my homework. it feels great to go back in time and look at great things of our past !
One of the best Zelda games i ever played. Beautiful in all ways. I finish it in an emulator. I never owned a SNES. But i will treasure every moment of my game played. Thanks for the video. Brings me good memories.
Love this game was 11 when this came out, first game I ever completed without any cheats or walk-throughs, true classic always love the very beginning when links in his house and you hear the rain beating against the house, you collect the lamp and go out side and it's tipping it down, thunder and lighting everywhere, so you go in the castle still the rain beats the castle, SNES sound effects were flipping awesome, no other console does thunder and and lighting sounds quite like the SNES, remember Bowsers music and thunder intro in super Mario world? ahh classic days!! There'll never be another era like the 16bit days.
Youl never get another game as good as this... No Zelda before or after has ever came close to being this good.. I absolutely love this game.. I can never forget the joy this game gave to me
I remember playing that at 8 yrs old thinking this was the most important mission in the world for me to do.....now I’m 36 and laughing my ass off looking back!
Ahhh, good times, great game. One of the first games I got for the SNES (think in '92 if I remember correctly). Still arguably the best Zelda game out.
Love this game. Lost my mom back in Nov and it was one of her favorites. She would let us watch while she played, wish I could watch her play it once one😔
I just started playing this again today as it's included in the snes-mini with 20 other games. The last Zelda I played was Ocarina of time on the 64, one of the greatest games ever together with this one!
try getting yourself a SNES Classic. It's an amazing little machine and playing on Nintendo hardware just hits different. but beware of copies! (there are videos on youtube on what to look out for
This game is so nostalgic, I remember playing this game when I was little and not knowing anything about link or the legend of Zelda and just playing it. The most distinct thing I remember about this game is that opening music. Brings back so many memories.
I watched this whole thing, and it made me get my old Super Nintendo out so I could play this. I've not got it plugged up yet cause I was resting first and I need to clean/dust everything so I can put the game system on nice clean areas but yeah... lol I love this game, I'm 28 this year, birthday is July 31st 1987, this game came out when I was pretty little and I watched my dad and brother play it then I finally played, I was silly though, scared every time I got hurt and I threw the controller and would scream LMAO. My brother and dad never let me live that down, with nearly every game I played when I was a kid. Great memories watching this, and also I see a few things we never learned when we played so I'll be able to do all that cool stuff now, it's amazing how we continue learning things 20+ years later about something you thought you knew all about.
I understand man. I'm 36 born 79. just found longplays channel. this Friday I'm buying a snes & this game. I didn't even know I missed these games so much. lol
Favorite game of all time. This was the first game I ever beat on my own. My parents had just gotten me a super Nintendo and this game for Christmas one year and though it was a useless victory, the feeling of accomplishment I got when I beat it is one I have never forgotten. There's just something about it...
Yep, we were definitely playing video games--especially LoZ. I'm a 27 yo woman, and I just replayed the Second Quest on LoZ for NES. Hadn't played that game in sooooo long.
none of those games even come close as you said. the simplicity and complexity of this game were light years ahead. its an adventure full of heroism. a true masterpiece.
I loved OoT (the last Zelda game I ever played). For me, it’s one hell of a toss-up between LttP and OoT for the title of “best” Zelda game. They were both amazing.
@@PeteyThePanda I couldn't compare. The simplicity of Majora's Mask with the utter depth and hammering down of its themes is just something that I haven't seen ever again. Such a bold and effective to way to tell a story. I personally can't even say which I like more - OoT, MM, WW, TP. All of these are phenomenal games. I can't really compare them to the 2D Zeldas honestly but A Link to the Past is a masterpiece of simplicity. Minish Cap is severly underrated too. IDK. Zelda just knows what's up. No need to rank them. Like I don't really like Breath of the Wild but there is no denying that both are fantastic games as well. It just depends on ones preferences, ultimately. I guess my favorite is Twilight Princess but I understand the criticism that it is like the only Zelda that doesn't really bring something new to the table. But since I adore OoT, well, Twilight Princess is in many, if not all ways Ocarina of Time 2, only that its sound design is kicking more ass. Win to me. :)
@@njux1871 in Twilight Princess that Link kicks ass and isn't just a one move guy. Just like Zelda 2 where you can stab multiple areas- up down side- and it's a detailed gave not just another wanna be Zelda 1.

The first time I played I was 10 years old and I found it just beautiful, but I didn't have the game, so no time to played it enough to understand it. Now I am 33 and finally dedicated part of my time to play it and end it. A chapter of my childhood was finished today. And it was just beautiful

Growing up with my Original NES, then later we got the awesome SNES Super Nintendo! Thank You for this! OH!!! The Childhood Nostalgia Memories. 👦😍
My preteen life summed up in a little over 4 hours. Thankyou for posting this. I remember being in like 6th grade and thinking on ways to beat it. Being at hockey practice thinking how. Chicago winters were so long and cold. This was my go to
Without this game I wouldnt be where I am today. My brother gave me his SNES when I was 7 and I played this game day in and day out for a very long time. This and DOOM had me hardlined to the screen. I lost this game and the console when we moved and until the last year I hadn't gotten it back. This game has inspired me to learn game development and that is my most recent endeavor. It is going very well and I am thankful to this game for so many great memories. I hope you all can share in my love for this game. If anyone sees this tell me when was the first time you played this game.
This week is my first time. I'm 29 so I've played all post Oot. It's good but difficult, as were all games of the time. Just got to dark world. Using zelda dungeon as a guide.
@@kstreet7438 I am really excited for you! When you finish the game come back and let me know how it was. It gets really good :D my best advice is explore everything. There are things hidden where you least expect and things hidden where its too obvious to see.
@@CJEXP i must have played it around '99 or even later. I played it on gameboy first. I don't know why i was so late playing it on snes but i guess it was because i thought no game would anyways come even close to secret of mana. but zelda on snes is still one of its own. 1985 here.
I don't know what kind of graphics is "the best", but I do feel it's more pleasurable to play a game like Zelda or Metroid instead of a game like God of War.
This is my favorite video game of all time. I still play this one every once in a while, and I try to make it so that the number of plays at the end of the game reads zero.
It means that because you played the game all the way through without saving, you have no saved games, and the number of played games at the end of the game reads zero.
One time my dad was playing a file and somehow it glitched out and went to 999 games. I've never replicated that since nor heard of it happening to anybody else so far.
Hands down the best Zelda game ever made! The music, weapons, map, story to this day still stand the test of time! Also don’t forget the hammer let’s you “POUND” other things
graphics 10, storyline & gameplay 99, and the music also classic. i'll always remember to play this game and finish all the quest. ;)))) in old shool days

I love the entry music of the first three dungeons!!! It’s actually creepy! I still play this game to this day! I was born in 1988 so this was my childhood Zelda game! That and the original first one my older brother and my Dad would play together. Now when my older brother and I meet around the holidays we still play though the original Zelda! Funny how games like this are played over and over again! Especially when there is sentimental feelings behind it! How I love Zelda games!
This was one of my first games, and I played this game a lot back when I was 8, and when I was 9, I beated the game, it took me 8 months. In 2023, Something remembered me about this game, and I installed it and started playing it, and I still remembered everything on the game, and beated the game one more time. Thanks for this game!
One of the few games I replayed many times when was young, and I don't regret it =) its now as lovely as it was then. Nevermind graphics they have aged well, same goes for music
I used to watch my son, who was barely more than a toddler, play this game for hours and hours, some of the happiest memories of his childhood, everything about it makes me happy
It's a mistake. Zelda is the PRINCESS...she is the "girl" in the story. The hero's name is Link. He meant to say "Follow Link as he rescues a girl" not Zelda.
Wow!! Talk about nostalgia!! I was fortunate enough to have rented for me an SNES from Blockbuster Video back in the day and was looking for a copy of the then just released Street Fighter II to play with it. Of course they were all rented out. I loved just about anything Zelda (even the cartoon series) and had already beaten Zelda 2 on NES so I rented this beauty. I instantly fell in love. I played it until I had to return it. Soon after my parents bought me an SNES and guess what game I chose. That time I played it until I finished it. I still remember the insane sense of accomplishment I felt completing such a challenging game. And from reading the posts here, my feelings were well deserved as not many people have done this as adults, let alone as a teen. This game is without a doubt one of the best SNES games ever made and arguably one of the best games of all time!! Thank you so much for being such an amazing Zelda player and allowing us to re-live this masterpiece with you!!
I remember having been totally amazed by this wonderful game I played for the first time on a Sunday morning, almost 30 years ago. I believe it was among the best games I ever had on the SNES.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would have a deeper meaning but there we are. Watching the entire upload! Thank you for this! Reminiscing... Should of called it a link to the past. 2:50 love the sound of rain outside. The sound effects are very good for an SNES game from the early 90’s. Also Zelda’s theme when you meet her. So that’s where Oot got it from.
3:43:03. I could never figure out how to activate the chest when I was a kid. I went back to the game 5 years later and found it then beat the game. I cried at the triforce music. I'll never forget it. It was worth the wait. 4:27:10

And Twilight Princess and Mimish Cap.
This game is such a pure masterpiece. I could play it forever.
the gameplay is somehow locked in the recesses of my mind, when i used to go to blockbuster and rent it and it even came with the instruction booklet. I often go back to my snes console and play my old games for nostalgia purposes, when life was easier and i had nothing to worry about. I long to reconnect with those times. I know I will never experience that lifestyle again, but i at least still have those memories.
Especially for it’s time, this game was amazing. The tiniest details like stair walking etc. amazing game.
I get Goosebumps when I see the opening because you know it is going to be a great game.

a "BAIT COMMENT"
i remember coming home from school and jumping right in bed to play this game instead off doing my homework. it feels great to go back in time and look at great things of our past !
20 years later: still playing zelda, still not doing my homework. Eat shit mrs harrison
@@steveH384 bahahahahahahaha damn
I guess you could say that this game is your "link to the past"
I did the exact same thing.
@@BabyBatzzzzz lol never thought of it that way.
One of the best Zelda games i ever played.
Beautiful in all ways.
I finish it in an emulator. I never owned a SNES.
But i will treasure every moment of my game played.
Thanks for the video. Brings me good memories.
Best Zelda game ever this was ahead of its time and what a legendary adventure i can play and enjoy this game over and over
I still can't believe that this game existed because link lost to ganondorf in ocarina of time.
Last best Zelda game I ever played was Skyward Sword on Wii, I would really play a link to the past SNES any day!
I can never forget the joy this game gave to me
I still have this on snes and I'm so grateful that it works every single time still. This really is one of the best games ever, not just best on snes
I remember playing that at 8 yrs old thinking this was the most important mission in the world for me to do.....now I’m 36 and laughing my ass off looking back!
nice
Depressing as hell
Lol 😂 👍🏽
This is one of those old games that deserves every piece of praise it gets, and isn't the least bit "overrated" at all.
Still love the sound of EVERY song on every board...whomever wrote the score is a bonafide genius!
Koji Kondo wrote all the music for this game I think. It’s fantastic isn’t it?
Ahhh, good times, great game. One of the first games I got for the SNES (think in '92 if I remember correctly). Still arguably the best Zelda game out.
Totaly Agree
No 2D Zelda game can ever be considers the best.
when were you born?
Sorry TC, should of addressed it better, My comment was aimed at sleepy. But totally agree with you on Link to the past being the best.
Definitely the Best one. Even though the first is great for the one that opened the doors.
Love this game. Lost my mom back in Nov and it was one of her favorites. She would let us watch while she played, wish I could watch her play it once one😔
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you had a cool mom.
I just started playing this again today as it's included in the snes-mini with 20 other games. The last Zelda I played was Ocarina of time on the 64, one of the greatest games ever together with this one!
My very first childhood game ever played, I never beat it but I think it's time I revisit this masterpiece and beat it lol so many good memories.
try getting yourself a SNES Classic. It's an amazing little machine and playing on Nintendo hardware just hits different. but beware of copies! (there are videos on youtube on what to look out for
i just use nintendo online to play it
That message from Zelda in the beginning..no music, dark, just the rain..goosebumps
This game is so nostalgic, I remember playing this game when I was little and not knowing anything about link or the legend of Zelda and just playing it. The most distinct thing I remember about this game is that opening music. Brings back so many memories.
My brother and I were obsessed with this game when we were kids

In my opinion the greatest game ever created! It eludes me how CHRONO TRIGGER surpassed
A LINK TO THE PAST in terms of sales of SNES games.
Those two games are the best.
I will never tire of this masterpiece, I love it. my favorite Zelda game of all time.
nowadays they focus too much on graphics, they need to put more attention on story line, and music
and of course gameplay
diornotwar123 Yes, graphics are overrated
This game had amazing graphics for a 1991 game. Even today, they are not a pain to look at.
Bill combre what about it
Like Breath of the Wild now has :D
What a game this was, hearing the sound effects really brings back memories
the nostalgia! i remember being sick as a child and sitting up late at night with my stepdad playing this game. one of my dearest memories =')
This was the very first video game I ever played. Ahh what great memories.
I literally want to cry lol... omg I'm an 80's babies and dammit I wish I was a kid again! Lol
Melanated Beauty very true
Melanated Beauty Wait a minute, girls were playing video games in the 90s? Where were they?! All I saw were Tamagotchis and pogs...
Yep, we were definitely playing video games--especially LoZ. I'm a 27 yo woman, and I just replayed the Second Quest on LoZ for NES. Hadn't played that game in sooooo long.
@@rojus2622 Most people who grew up on this game were born in the 80s/late-70s
SNES Classic 😉
The doctor says you only have 4 hours and 30 mins to live. Well...
To me still the greatest Zelda game ever. No Ocarina of Time, no Wind Waker, no Breath of the Wild comes even close to this masterpiece.
none of those games even come close as you said. the simplicity and complexity of this game were light years ahead. its an adventure full of heroism. a true masterpiece.
Win to me. :)
@@njux1871 For me is easily pTwilight tPrincess, Wind Waker, Link between Worlds, Mask, Ocarina, Zelda 2, and Zelda 1.. then this.
@@njux1871 in Twilight Princess that Link kicks ass and isn't just a one move guy. Just like Zelda 2 where you can stab multiple areas- up down side- and it's a detailed gave not just another wanna be Zelda 1.
Thank you so much for this. I could never end this game just by myself.
The first time I played I was 10 years old and I found it just beautiful, but I didn't have the game, so no time to played it enough to understand it.
Now I am 33 and finally dedicated part of my time to play it and end it. A chapter of my childhood was finished today. And it was just beautiful
I COULD PLAY THIS GAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN LOL!
I am playing it now

Trigger Glory Every. Single. Bush. .. -_- It was like a compulsion. And grass
Trigger Glory lol yes!
I did that to as well
i only did it in the begging to finf my way into the castle
When i figured out that there are land mines and soldiers hiding in them, I used the charging dash almost on a regular basis for "landscaping". Lawnmower on coke Link, go!!
There are so many things to love about this game but something that really makes it memorable is the soundtrack. Absolutely amazing.
Gotta love zelda! I remember to this day when I received my SNES and it came with it. This game literally trumps all other games.
This game took me forever to beat as a child lol. This game really was an adventure! Finding all the cool hidden passageways, secret areas was sooo much fun!
Growing up with my Original NES, then later we got the awesome SNES Super Nintendo!
Thank You for this! OH!!! The Childhood Nostalgia Memories. 👦😍

Omg.. One of my favorite games best one out there. The music the graphics everything just makes it so perfect😍😍
So many childhood memories❤️
My preteen life summed up in a little over 4 hours. Thankyou for posting this.
I remember being in like 6th grade and thinking on ways to beat it. Being at hockey practice thinking how. Chicago winters were so long and cold. This was my go to
I’m currently playing this on my switch, it’s so good
Without this game I wouldnt be where I am today.
1985 here.

Brian Leetch music ..... yea I’ll give u that, but graphics ...... meh they were good for the time
Have you played Owlboy? Hyperlight Drifter? Stardew Valley? All games with pixel graphics, but prettier ones at that.
Not really, it has great pixel-art but graphically it doesn't come close to RDR2, Witcher 3,God of War.
RETRO MASTER True. They are objectively better, but subjectively prettier.
+Kay Clopton what that means? i never played this game before.
It means that because you played the game all the way through without saving, you have no saved games, and the number of played games at the end of the game reads zero.
Kay Clopton thank you
One time my dad was playing a file and somehow it glitched out and went to 999 games. I've never replicated that since nor heard of it happening to anybody else so far.
Hands down the best Zelda game ever made! The music, weapons, map, story to this day still stand the test of time! Also don’t forget the hammer let’s you “POUND” other things

+World of Longplays (cubex55) i kinda doubt that
+World of Longplays I didn't know that Zelda can also be a boy's name XD.
