There's a line between asking to change something because it doesn't looks good and asking to change it because you don't like, a judge has to be objective about that and Michelle completely missed the mark when it came to Max critiques. As @rafes said, all the looks that Max had were gorgeous, she also had acting skills on a season that was the most based on acting challenges. The wig color was the only flaw Michelle could find because Max was amazing, and it was such a stupid excuse to get her out of the competition, I mean she was the only one complaining about that 🙄

I really hated Michelle’s critiques of Max. Reminds me of when she criticized Nina’s west padding. Like not all women are shaped like A Kardashian. Queens should be able to “impersonate” different types of women. And Nina’s “shape” plays to her character in my opinion. Michelle asking her to change it really made my ass itch.

Something I will never understand about Michelle: There are queens who usually stick to a single hair colour, such as trixie mattel or manila luzon, but michelle has never complained about them. However, those queens use “normal” hair colours, but suddenly we see queens who usually wear “abnormal” hair colors and michelle complains, with queens such as farrah moan and in this case max. C · I always see this, it isn’t even really a RPDR problem if we really look into it sadly :(. Youknow american reality tv always is a bit more loud and dramatic, not that there’s anything wrong with that it’s certainly entertaining a lot of the time but even for someone like Gordan Ramsay. In the shows he has in america he seems a lot more short tempered but in the shows he has in other countries he’s much more calm, even admitting to playing it up for american audiences just because this is the standard put on american TV. Again, not bashing american television, entertainment is entertainment but this imo has carried over into actual american society so now if your just calm/shy/reserved or anything of the sort you get mistaken for having no personality. But then again the chillness could also just be a European thing like Juno😂 I’m from Spain so here in this continent I’m seen as outgoing but I went to America for like a month once and got told I seemed resserved, who knows really but I just wish these quieter queens got more recognition eiither way:)

Max was my front runner for the crown in season 7. Her elimination episode was the last drag race episode that genuinely shocked me. I love Katya but the fact Max showed true enthusiasm and good sportsmanship throughout the series (comforting Jaidynn in the Shakespeare challenge, winning a challenge with Pearl after the RuPaul stare down etc.) is why she should have been at least Miss Congeniality.

Jesus Lopez she implemented a lot of fashion forward and really nice looks into season seven and the show overall, she had two maxi challenge wins very early on which isn’t THAT common, she gave an eccentric, interesting personality which frankly hadn’t been seen on the show before.

Coming from RPDR S12, Aiden Zhane was wearing THE SAME WIG EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK and yet never once Michelle (or Ru) had a problem with it! I love Max and was incredibly sad by this unjust treatment of her. For years I've been scouting her on the internet but she's not very active on social :( Hence we might never get to see more of Max, which is really sad because she's so incredibly talented and interesting as a persona
I hated this so much because all queens have a “look” and it often links to hair colour - it helps to make their drag persona seem more real and consistent! The clothes and everything else could change but the hair gives the sense it is the same person! Katya wears brassy blonde, Trixie wears white blonde, Bianca wears red, Ben wears black...even Rupaul herself goes for starlet blonde the majority of the time. Honestly it does so much justice to Max though considering they were forced to pick a nonsensical thing to critique - clearly her outfits were too good.

Max was my favourite. Her style always caught my eye, she had a balanced character and impeccable style (and it does help that im huge History Nerd and I love her vintage style)
She was so miss treated. She was badly edited especially on her last episode. I was so mad. She didnt deserve to leave on that episode. Her runaway outfits was one of the nest and cutest

This is so accurate Max was a Front runner in the most of her episodes and Ru knew that she could not slip over the wins Max deserved but when Max was placed bottom for the 1st time the producers and Ru knew that they wanted Max gone so the decision was already made before the lip sync not to mention the editors made Ru look like the good guy by making Max look like she faked the whole corset being to tight by editing the rest of the parts the editors made max look like an attention seeking jealous queen and pearl was favored way way way way too many times { Ru asked Max to sing the song she sang and the edited the asking part}
Max's elimination was the reason I lost interest in Season 7. Going into it I really thought Max was going to win or at least be top three because of her track record and uniqueness on the runway. I couldn't believe she was judged so harshly after her previous two wins. The season was definitely rigged for boring ass Violet and it wasn't fair. Max has so much more to her than her looks and these are the types of queens I like to see win because they just have so much more to offer. I agree with you on Max's cover of Dance With U. He KILLED it! The first time I heard it I got chills! He has an amazing singing voice!

I know this was 5 years ago, but it still hurt so bad, when you imagine, how much more could Max show. They show us a real star potential in such a short time. I am very worried, that this talent is wasting away right now and I cant help, but to blame RPDR production for that. And, unfortunately, Max is not the only case, but also many queens of the colour. It makes me so sad, that the community that still experiences so many fuckeries, such things happens. I mean, we should help and support each other, not screw over each other for money or drama.
I'm rewatching season 7 atm, and omg, Max was so amazing! I'm actually cheering for her and am glad when she gets her wins, because they are all deserved. She worked really hard, stayed out of drama and was a professional.
I feel awful when a rugirl is forced to take away the thing that identifies her, wether it be hair, a campy kind of make-up... I really felt like Max deserved better, Im glad Im not alone. ALSO, Violet has admitted herself that after her death becomes her runway, she almost fainted and had to take off her corset, so... why is it a problem if Max does it too? I swear, the producers end me.
Out of all the gripes I have with season 7, this is really the biggest I have with it. Max clearly was an easy contender for the top and had a potential Ms. Congeniality storyline and... they didn’t go with it. You’d think they’d have stopped pushing Pearl and Miss Fame through after they failed to really keep up halfway through the season and just focus on Violet and Max for the ‘young’ winner, but instead we got one of the most obvious / sloppiest act of producer crafted storylines in this entire show.
I’m so glad there’s an entire video on this because I was always so confused on why max was picked at! I found her to be very likable due to her non over the top personality. And to me she still stuck out despite not acting out on camera. She had a brand for sure. I was quite young and LOVED violet that season but I still liked max. They picked on her for no reason but to cause drama in the show and it’s really sad. She deserved way better.
IMHO there must be a lot of production vs Max drama that we don't know of. That is the only explanation I can find for the harsh and unfair critiques from Michelle as well as the extremely cruel editing on Max's final episode. Also, how genuinely scared she looked on her goodbye interview as well as in the reunion
Finally. I've been waiting for a video like this. I loved Max so much, they're one of my favourites, and don't understand why so many people bash them. They did so good up until that tomfoolery. Side note: I also met them a few years ago and they were the kindest I could hope for them to be. Spent a full half an hour with me and my friends talking to us. Was one of the most wholesome experiences and solidified them even more as one of my all time faves.

WOW this videos was so well done. that explains why they didn’t showed RuPaul talking with Max at the workroom because when a queen is bottom/top and there are too many queens they show Ru talking with the bottom/top at the workroom and i think they didn’t showed it so it would seem a decision of Max, i found weird that they didn’t showed Ru talking with Max, so when Max was in the bottom i thought “well, then she is safe right?” so yeah, the production of the show is really bruh sometimes

GOD IDK HOW IM JUST SEEING THIS BUT I WANNA CRY!!! thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!!!! ive been a max stan since the day i knew he’d be on the show, I was so hopeful and excited to see him and see him go far. Interacting on wih him on twitter, making friends who also loved max, etc he became a HUGEEE part of my life for me being 14-16 and he inspired so much even down to the grey hair i have NOW!! it was HEARTBREAKINGGG to see how he was treated. and it was the first season that made me finally believe that show was horribly rigged and it was disappointing. The show took someone original and talented and made them look like a joke and it isnt okay. Max not only held up his team and Jaidynn, but he also helped pearl during her iconic meltdown after she stopped being dramatic the entire time, writing the majority of the script to lead them to a win. Max its always and forever going to be my favorite ru girl and just person in general. Thank you for this.

Thaaank you for doing the "What if Season 7 didn't bend the rules" video. That season still cringes me to this day. The only good thing about season 7 is that it was so bad they had to make one final good season - season 8 - and then go back to the bad judging and anything-for-the-gag-effect approach they had for seasons 7, 9, 10, 11 and All Star seasons in that time.
I love every season but I think 8 might be my least favorite(not that I didn't watch all of it and love the girls. ) But I think it was one of the most lack luster. Not the Queen's themselves but the challenges and overall dynamic was really boring for me. What did you like about it?
To everyone complaining about season 8: Yes, it wasn't the best season, the best queens or whatever, but that's not my point at all. What I mean specifically by "good season" is concerning the format and judging quality/fairness. That's my complaint about the seasons I mentioned in my comment and that's where I put season 8 as an exception in more recent seasons. Sure, there was Derrick being Top5 but that's a problem in almost every season (Bebe, Carmen, Shangela, PhiPhi, Alaska, Adore, DeLa...) there's always some favoritism, even in good seasons.
season 7 was the first one i saw and it was also my first real encounter with drag. I watched it with a friend of mine and the second she walked in, i loved Max. She was my first favourite drag queen, and seeing her character being mistreated by the show makes me sad over and over again, especially the last scene on the stage, which confused me a lot. years later i found out that it wasn´t Max being weird, but the producers wanting her to appear as weird. i still love Max, maybe even more than before

In my opinion, Max was supposed to be in the bottom but the fact that the judges plucked the smallest pieces of what is supposedly wrong with her drag and what they want to see when Violet was criticized for smaller things yet she was never put in the bottom because they didn’t care as much. Max was definitely deserving to be placed higher in that season and it sucks to know that a queen with two wins and was a frontrunner was put in the bottom once then eliminated seemed really stupid
Max was an obvious front runner and they knew had she stayed she would’ve won. Had this happened, they probably would’ve changed the format of the finale to work in Violet or Pearl’s favor to ensure 1 of them won and make sure they get the story ending they were aiming for.
Max was on my favorite queens on season 7 and i was so upset with how they treated her and a few years later she would've been favored bc of her style (i watched a few years after it aired and i LOVED her)

However, those queens use “normal” hair colours, but suddenly we see queens who usually wear “abnormal” hair colors and michelle complains, with queens such as farrah moan and in this case max.

C · I always see this, it isn’t even really a RPDR problem if we really look into it sadly :(. Youknow american reality tv always is a bit more loud and dramatic, not that there’s anything wrong with that it’s certainly entertaining a lot of the time but even for someone like Gordan Ramsay. In the shows he has in america he seems a lot more short tempered but in the shows he has in other countries he’s much more calm, even admitting to playing it up for american audiences just because this is the standard put on american TV. Again, not bashing american television, entertainment is entertainment but this imo has carried over into actual american society so now if your just calm/shy/reserved or anything of the sort you get mistaken for having no personality. But then again the chillness could also just be a European thing like Juno😂 I’m from Spain so here in this continent I’m seen as outgoing but I went to America for like a month once and got told I seemed resserved, who knows really but I just wish these quieter queens got more recognition eiither way:)

Max was my front runner for the crown in season 7. Her elimination episode was the last drag race episode that genuinely shocked me. I love Katya but the fact Max showed true enthusiasm and good sportsmanship throughout the series (comforting Jaidynn in the Shakespeare challenge, winning a challenge with Pearl after the RuPaul stare down etc.) is why she should have been at least Miss Congeniality.

I love Max and was incredibly sad by this unjust treatment of her. For years I've been scouting her on the internet but she's not very active on social :( Hence we might never get to see more of Max, which is really sad because she's so incredibly talented and interesting as a persona
I hated this so much because all queens have a “look” and it often links to hair colour - it helps to make their drag persona seem more real and consistent! The clothes and everything else could change but the hair gives the sense it is the same person! Katya wears brassy blonde, Trixie wears white blonde, Bianca wears red, Ben wears black...even Rupaul herself goes for starlet blonde the majority of the time.
Honestly it does so much justice to Max though considering they were forced to pick a nonsensical thing to critique - clearly her outfits were too good.

This is so accurate Max was a Front runner in the most of her episodes and Ru knew that she could not slip over the wins Max deserved but when Max was placed bottom for the 1st time the producers and Ru knew that they wanted Max gone so the decision was already made before the lip sync not to mention the editors made Ru look like the good guy by making Max look like she faked the whole corset being to tight by editing the rest of the parts the editors made max look like an attention seeking jealous queen and pearl was favored way way way way too many times { Ru asked Max to sing the song she sang and the edited the asking part}
Max's elimination was the reason I lost interest in Season 7. Going into it I really thought Max was going to win or at least be top three because of her track record and uniqueness on the runway. I couldn't believe she was judged so harshly after her previous two wins. The season was definitely rigged for boring ass Violet and it wasn't fair. Max has so much more to her than her looks and these are the types of queens I like to see win because they just have so much more to offer. I agree with you on Max's cover of Dance With U. He KILLED it! The first time I heard it I got chills! He has an amazing singing voice!

I know this was 5 years ago, but it still hurt so bad, when you imagine, how much more could Max show. They show us a real star potential in such a short time. I am very worried, that this talent is wasting away right now and I cant help, but to blame RPDR production for that. And, unfortunately, Max is not the only case, but also many queens of the colour. It makes me so sad, that the community that still experiences so many fuckeries, such things happens. I mean, we should help and support each other, not screw over each other for money or drama.
I'm rewatching season 7 atm, and omg, Max was so amazing! I'm actually cheering for her and am glad when she gets her wins, because they are all deserved. She worked really hard, stayed out of drama and was a professional.

Out of all the gripes I have with season 7, this is really the biggest I have with it. Max clearly was an easy contender for the top and had a potential Ms. Congeniality storyline and... they didn’t go with it.
You’d think they’d have stopped pushing Pearl and Miss Fame through after they failed to really keep up halfway through the season and just focus on Violet and Max for the ‘young’ winner, but instead we got one of the most obvious / sloppiest act of producer crafted storylines in this entire show.

I’m so glad there’s an entire video on this because I was always so confused on why max was picked at! I found her to be very likable due to her non over the top personality. And to me she still stuck out despite not acting out on camera. She had a brand for sure. I was quite young and LOVED violet that season but I still liked max. They picked on her for no reason but to cause drama in the show and it’s really sad. She deserved way better.

IMHO there must be a lot of production vs Max drama that we don't know of. That is the only explanation I can find for the harsh and unfair critiques from Michelle as well as the extremely cruel editing on Max's final episode. Also, how genuinely scared she looked on her goodbye interview as well as in the reunion

Finally. I've been waiting for a video like this. I loved Max so much, they're one of my favourites, and don't understand why so many people bash them. They did so good up until that tomfoolery.
Side note: I also met them a few years ago and they were the kindest I could hope for them to be. Spent a full half an hour with me and my friends talking to us. Was one of the most wholesome experiences and solidified them even more as one of my all time faves.

GOD IDK HOW IM JUST SEEING THIS BUT I WANNA CRY!!! thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!!!! ive been a max stan since the day i knew he’d be on the show, I was so hopeful and excited to see him and see him go far. Interacting on wih him on twitter, making friends who also loved max, etc he became a HUGEEE part of my life for me being 14-16 and he inspired so much even down to the grey hair i have NOW!! it was HEARTBREAKINGGG to see how he was treated. and it was the first season that made me finally believe that show was horribly rigged and it was disappointing. The show took someone original and talented and made them look like a joke and it isnt okay. Max not only held up his team and Jaidynn, but he also helped pearl during her iconic meltdown after she stopped being dramatic the entire time, writing the majority of the script to lead them to a win. Max its always and forever going to be my favorite ru girl and just person in general. Thank you for this.

Thaaank you for doing the "What if Season 7 didn't bend the rules" video. That season still cringes me to this day. The only good thing about season 7 is that it was so bad they had to make one final good season - season 8 - and then go back to the bad judging and anything-for-the-gag-effect approach they had for seasons 7, 9, 10, 11 and All Star seasons in that time.
I love every season but I think 8 might be my least favorite(not that I didn't watch all of it and love the girls. ) But I think it was one of the most lack luster. Not the Queen's themselves but the challenges and overall dynamic was really boring for me. What did you like about it?

To everyone complaining about season 8: Yes, it wasn't the best season, the best queens or whatever, but that's not my point at all. What I mean specifically by "good season" is concerning the format and judging quality/fairness. That's my complaint about the seasons I mentioned in my comment and that's where I put season 8 as an exception in more recent seasons. Sure, there was Derrick being Top5 but that's a problem in almost every season (Bebe, Carmen, Shangela, PhiPhi, Alaska, Adore, DeLa...) there's always some favoritism, even in good seasons.
I feel like given how Tina Burner passed 10 episodes before her flame esthetic was (shown to be) critized, this hurts even more...

I watched it with a friend of mine and the second she walked in, i loved Max. She was my first favourite drag queen, and seeing her character being mistreated by the show makes me sad over and over again, especially the last scene on the stage, which confused me a lot. years later i found out that it wasn´t Max being weird, but the producers wanting her to appear as weird. i still love Max, maybe even more than before

Max is so talented and has actual leadership qualities. How she can manage every team to work and everyone likes her. All of the cloth he made or chose looks amazing and expensive af, idk why the judges picks at her wigs like they picks on Derrick's brow. That is called "STYLE"
Soooo, Max couldn't do Miranda because she is a character? WTF? ALL Drag Queens are characters, yes underneath the Drag they are real people but I'm sure Cynthia, out of drag, doesn't walk around asking people 'Have you seen my coo coo' ...I felt for Max because, though I LOVE Pearl, at the time Max had shown far better looks than Pearl.

In my opinion, Max was supposed to be in the bottom but the fact that the judges plucked the smallest pieces of what is supposedly wrong with her drag and what they want to see when Violet was criticized for smaller things yet she was never put in the bottom because they didn’t care as much. Max was definitely deserving to be placed higher in that season and it sucks to know that a queen with two wins and was a frontrunner was put in the bottom once then eliminated seemed really stupid

Max was an obvious front runner and they knew had she stayed she would’ve won. Had this happened, they probably would’ve changed the format of the finale to work in Violet or Pearl’s favor to ensure 1 of them won and make sure they get the story ending they were aiming for.
Max is so underrated! She did so well in her season!
Max was on my favorite queens on season 7 and i was so upset with how they treated her and a few years later she would've been favored bc of her style (i watched a few years after it aired and i LOVED her)

I get saying "try to give us to glamour" to a mainky campy queen or vise versa to prova that they can, but max dosnt need to prova that he can put on a wig that is black red blond or something else, she wore other coloured hair in the challanges aswell, soooo
