  • For the next several weeks we are going to be doing a series on fiber and fiber related things we do on the farm. We had a request to show how we make a scrap yarn batt. Thanks Dana for making the suggestion!
In making this batt, we use a dog brush to get the fiber off the wheel. Here is a link to that exact brush.

    Visit our farm www.millgapfarm.com
This an "affiliate link" where you can purchase the same item we bought. As we understand affiliate links, if you use this link we may receive a tiny commission on the sale because we showed you the product. Sort of like that movie Office Space. It the tiny fractions of cents that add up, that nobody notices and over time we make money.

Emily does a great job with her fiber products. In the next video, she will turn the fiber batt into yarn. Then hopefully a scarf. Which will be really neat. Thanks for watching. Kevin

I love the idea of adding scraps of yarn, however, I didn’t quite catch the name of your drum carder if you don’t mind sharing. Thanks.

      Hello Marja,
I used the Fancy Kitty Little Tom XL with the 120/90 TPI. It is a great machine and does amazing with alpaca and wool that has already been processed. If I were to buy one again I would get one with a smaller TPI . I process a lot of my own wool from my sheep and the larger TPI struggles a bit..
      Thank you for your question,
      Emily
