If you just woke up this morning and this commercial was dropped out of nowhere with no leaks everyone disappointed would be hyped af and be like "I'm glad they put this out first instead of just staying quiet until April"
I feel like the mouse functionality will help with quite a few games. Would be a great way to play Fire Emblem as well as create an indie resurgence of RTS games.
Damn it… I’m in Australia and thought last night when I saw the trailer the date for more was 4th of February, because that’s how we read that date. Now I find out it’s actually 2 month later 😢
With Live Service being something tech companies have been chasing I think the mouse function will be used for map and level creators in first party Nintendo titles, such as Super Mario Maker and a Mario Kart Course Maker. Only Nintendo Online Users will be able to use the community maps.
Bizarrely, the biggest thing selling me on this is being able to carry over my physical game cards ... there are quite a few new games that I've bought over the last three years that I just haven't played, so I'll definitely be starting with some exceptional experiences.
Having a mouse would make a lot of sense for games like baldurs gate 3 that could get ported to the switch 2. Even older games like disco elysium and stuff if they find a way to make it work on games that are already out.
Why is it that it seems like only Kevin understands how to frame by frame a UA-cam video? Every time we're watching one of these where Kevin isn't on the ones and twos, there's so much fumbling with trying to pause at the right moment. I just don't understand it. Switch 2 specs are about what was expected Steam Deck 1.6TFLOPs, NS2 1.723TFLOPs, PS4 1.843TFLOPs is how the handheld mode shakes out, it is more modern hardware than those devices as well as DLSS doubling performance as well. Docked it's 3.1TFLOPs, but more modern than PS4 Pro's 4.2TFLOPs and more comparable to Xbox Series S' 4TFLOPs, and DLSS 4 is available for this hardware.
@@ValMeri417 There are 48 tensor cores, they offer the same performance any Ampere GPU at a certain TFLOPs number would, because the entire GPC runs at a certain clock to hit that TFLOPs. RT performance for Ampere is about 3 times that of RDNA1, so it should be comparable to PS5's Ray Tracing when docked. It's a current gen console, 5 years into the generation.

It would be sick if Nintendo made it to where you could use the OG Switch as remote play and use it as another screen! Making DS and 3DS games playable.
What I’m interested in is the performance of the switch 2 just because some of the hype of the first Switch was that we could play last gen games on the go which was so cool at the time, but at least what I’m hearing is switch 2 will play last gen games like ps4, but with the rise now of steam os from CES we currently have handhelds that play both last gen and current gen. I know these cater to different crowds
I hope the rumors of a new 3D DK game are true, they need to do my mans justice when he's the one that put the entire company on, and he ain't had anything but ports for over a decade.
I think Nintendo should let you use Switch 1 and Switch Lite as a controller for switch 2. There are a lot of possibilities for using your own screen in desktop mode and it's never been done right.
Just a few days ago I was thinking about the feature that I really wanted and the top facing USB c port is what I wanted most. Now we can charge in tabletop mode or use wired arcade sticks for fighting games. Also a GameCube controller adapter for Smash in tabletop
As an AV professional I can tell you with almost 100% certainty it’s not going to be a cast button. Casting technology is trash and would tanish the brand if you associate casting technology with Nintendo
I was just gonna write about AC when you mentioned it. The current AC released 5 years ago, If I'm correct its the biggest gap there has been between 2 Animal Crossing games, so its either this year and that's one of the big hits or next year. That, Mario Kart and Mario 3D are selling you 40million switches in 2 years.
So i am watching this late but i play with a mouse that has a bunch of buttons on the side, i can see the righthand mouse beings very usable with just 4 buttons and the triggers to play with.
Lots of potential for Mario Kart 9: Hoping for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate-style driver costumes and kart designs with color/pattern/sticker customization, maybe? Might as well do DLC drivers and stages, too; up to 2 characters, 1 stage.
I really hope the software and the UI of the home menu is a massive leap. Menu customizations and all that (like the DS). Also hopefully the eShop is not crappy.
It’s so funny that you guys say you don’t play your switch while docked. I got the switch on day one. I’ve never played a handheld except for maybe the first couple of days. I have kids now. Did not when it came out. It’s definitely become the family console too
Mouse? 🤔 I wonder if the “C” button is for “Computer” Mode? The biggest surprise Wii will get this year from the big N is the introduction of the Nintendo OS!
Slight problem with your "Prime 4 At Launch" theory, it may not work like how you think it will. Metroid is the kind of game you buy because you already have a Nintendo system, not the other way around. And what's worse, Japan couldn't give less of a shit about Metroid. So Nintendo would be risking their domestic sales for no good reason. Plus Nintendo already tried a similar tactic with the 3DS's launch, & it didn't end well.
I am SO glad that we are getting "only" an upgraded more powerful Switch. Nintendo I feel have learned their lesson that sometimes doing totally different things with their systems are not always welcome. The only issue I have with my switch is it's lack of power, and this looks to address that whilst offering a bigger screen for handheld play. I'll be getting this day one.
The placement of what might be the C stick is awful, if you reach for it during a game the potential to hit the home button and exit your game is too high.
9:10 I mean what is the difference from what you just said and a PS5 vs a PS4? Nintendo has never used a number to a successor, so I think you are generally right, but you aren't describing a pro, you are describing a traditional successor to a previous console, which Nintendo hasn't done in the home console space since the NES to SNES.
I think you all should mentally prepare for $450 and hope to be pleasantly surprised by $400, otherwise it's really setting yourself up for disaster You should also mentally prepare for $70 NS2 games and nothing bundled, because the people buying day one would be buying MK for their new system either way. You might get lucky with a bundle at Christmas time but honestly the first couple years they're going to coast off people excited to upgrade and keep selling Switch 1s as the budget alternative
