Read the book Bury Us Upside Down: The Misty Pilots and the Secret Battle for the Ho Chi Minh Trail by Rick Newman and Don Shepard, a great read and some more reading on the bravery of these Misty pilots.

Helluva skillset, Misty AND Thunderbird Commander/Survivor!
Some "staff weenie" in Saigon telling 'em to bomb coordinates on a map not a real confirmed target. What could go wrong ?

The idea of communist cadres and hybrid topdownupdown communication structures are the key to group leadership. The middle/outer party needs to understands the highest level of command’s wishes (or be influenced to think in a way that achieves those aims) and that requires the mid level to understand it fully. High command leadership within group command is a whole different animal, but that makes sense as it is, say 200 people, instead of 1,000,000.
