Hope this helps. Spent way too long figuring out how to do this.
1) interact with console.
2) leave interaction
3) press down on Left Joystick to change to free camera move
4) move around until you are targeting the next synapse node along the path
4) click on that node to create a link
if you need to restart, you need to clear the entire path from the console.
