I’m just starting to watch your video but I NEED to go to bed!! I soo enjoy your kiln openings though. You must definitely live very south of me!! I hear frogs and grasshoppers in the background. Sounds like a wet area. I LOVE THAT SOUND. My gosh that root beer doesn’t look anything like when I use it. How many coats did you use on the honey bee plate?? Ok so I watched the whole thing, hubbies not too happy not he fell asleep! Lol Your glaze combos are amaaazing. The teapot is out of this world!! Seriously I have no idea how you add the crystals to a slipcast piece. Are they made of the same clay? If you could make a tutorial on this I would so love to see how you do it. AMAZING KILN LOAD!!
Hi! Thanks for all the compliments! I am addicted to kiln opening videos too, and always looking for interesting glaze combos. I am in Oregon, so its wet like 3/4 of the year, plus we have 2 ponds. I tried to use only 2 coats of rootbeer on the honeybee plate but with all the texture of the comb it got stuck in there so was maybe a bit thick. Yes, the crystals are the same clay, i use a premixed slip from georgies called gmix, and also the gmix clay. Most times it works, sometimes there are small cracks, but it works best if the two are similar dryness when joined. I've already got another opening filmed, i will add it in a few days, thanks for watching!!!💜
Beautiful glaze combos. A diamond core tools sanding bat will fix that beautiful mug that ran so bad. Princely but will pay for itself after it saves two to three mugs
Hi! I get most of my molds on ebay, shipped to me. Most are vintage and one of a kind so I'm always searching for new ones that seem interesting to me! In ebay search "ceramic mold" or "slip mold" and sometimes add a seach term for what you're looking for like "ceramic mold mug" or "slip mold tree" . Hope this helps, i am planning some mold focused videos for this summer ☮️
I watch a TON of pottery/ceramics videos and I rate your creativity and glazes at the top! Please keep making videos! Would love to see some process videos as well 🤩 In one or more of these you have shown what you call a “barrel” mug that is slip cast. Do you happen to know where I can find such a mold?
Thank you so much! I plan to make process videos at some point but life always gets in the way! The barrel mold was a vintage one, I got it on ebay but the availability of any mold is so based on just what people are selling at the moment, so I can only say to keep your eye open on there. If I ever see any I will let you know. But it is kind of tiny, especially the handle part, and hard to hold. There are some great molds on etsy though, good shapes and easy to pour. Shipping for a mold is usually 30-60 so that's the main expense since they are so heavy. Hope this helps!
Uniquely different !!
First time, fun to watch! Love the sharing. And i think the bee mug on brown is delightful. Do make more!
