The US Marshals’ task force is to serve a warrant on violent criminals using task force members from local police forces. They were serving a violent felon with illegal possession of firearms. They went in without an armored SWAT vehicle from the local police force and just walked up to the front door. What’s wrong with this picture?
Because 95 out of a hundred times, all it takes are a couple cops with weapons kicking down the door to get a guy to surrender. Many officers go their entire careers without ever firing their weapons at a human. You can't bring an armored car to every single warrant.
It's the cost of doing business.

Yes it's horrible that these officers were injured and that some died. (I'm a former Law Enforcement Officer and a SWAT team member, so I understand the extreme dangers and how things can go sideways very easily)
BUT...
This "Taskforce" (really???) being lead by the US Marshall's??? (and especially no one saying what the warrant was for) Makes all of this very very suspicious.
If I remember correctly, someone early on reported they had 30 some officers to initially serve the warrant, and 20 some were Federal. That should be leading news agencies to report on WHY Law Enforcement was there. Especially with that many Federal Officers.
After the recent botched raid by the ATF, where they killed the guy (and are having great difficulty trying to justify his death) the fact that NO NEWS AGENCIES are reporting on ANY of the backstory makes all of this seem very very fishy.
This is sad and fkd up...
