I lost all my hair during chemo, but some people who have a lot of hair do keep some., as it thins out. I was lucky my mom gifted me a beautiful wig, and I loved it. My insurance didn't pay for it. My hair grew back, and now it seems like it never happened. Losing my breast and hair were traumatic, but I am still here.
I know how you feel Amanda my hair started falling out 14 days after my first chemo by the handfuls. My head hurt so bad from the weight of my hair. It felt so much better after I shaved my head my head was very sensitive though I had to use certain pillow cases and we're certain hats cuz it would hurt just to touch my head. AMANDA WE ARE CANCER WARRIORS YOU AND I 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❣️💙💙
I totally understand how devastating it must be to have to lose your hair. It’s a part of our identity and yours is especially lovely. If it helps at all, you rock the bob and you have beautiful eyes & bone structure so whatever comes you’ll still look fabulous. Hang in there.
Super cute! I don’t think people who have not gone through dramatic hair loss understand how traumatic it can be … My long hair was coming out in chunks. I lost about 1/3 (minimum) of the volume of my hair before I even got Dx with cancer (for the second time). Obv it was one, of a few signs, that something was going on. I’m still shook, even though it has slowed down, and I’m seeing signs of possible new growth! So healthy that you took control of the situation. Well done you!
You look beautiful with the short bob. I am a hairdresser and also have helped dear clients through these difficult transitions. Praying for you as you move forward.
Your cut looks so pretty. Amanda, I had the same chemo and after the first treatment, most of my hair came out in a clump. It was during Covid and in the evening and I had to cut it out myself. Once it was done I never thought about it. I had a wig ready, wore it, and most people had no idea that it wasn’t my real hair if they didn’t know me. I didn’t care though, because the important thing was that I was getting a treatment that would hopefully save my life. Life is worth far more than hair.
You had beautiful long hair and now you have beautiful short hair! I’m much older than you and my hair hadn’t been great since my 30s, so when it started coming out after the first chemo last August, I didn’t mourn the look of it. What did bother me was the gobs of hair that came out in the shower. So I shaved to about 1/4” and some of it stayed on the top throughout (I looked like Woodstock). My eyebrows and lashes fell out right around and after the 6th round. Now 2 months past treatment- my eyebrows and lashes are back and hair is filling in on my head. You will have beautiful hair again! And you’ll be beautiful in the meantime. ☺️
exactly, it grows back, it was a bit hard mentally but yes, it's freeing somehow. I just cut mine off when it started falling out ,mine is growing back now and is a completely different texture which I find interesting
You look Fabulous with the short hair love the curl I also have naturally curl hair it seems to have so much more life when it's short praying for you.
I know what you're going through isn't easy. I'm dealing with a chronic illness and there's no way to share each moment with everyone. I respect that you're sharing your experience. I think you look perfectly fine with short hair! Take care.
Your positive attitude and determination will get you through this. You won’t lose your inner or outer beauty. Hang tough. Things will improve. I had Pancreatic cancer 6 years ago and believe me, attitude is all that matters. You will get through this!
Amanda, your hair looks beautiful. It was hard for me to loss my hair. My son shaved it really short and eventually it had to be shaved completely. I am greatful my son helped. But, it's all coming in now. You will get through this and your hair will be back before you know it. I think you are doing great. You are an inspiration. (((Hugs))) ❤️❤️
Its bad enough that a person has to have cancer but having to loose you hair (and eyelashes and eyebrows) is traumatizing. However your short haircut looks absolutely stunning! The cold caps should help somewhat but its still demoralizing to endure. Wishing you the best.
First of all. Soooo cute. But I understand the struggle of when to take steps. I thought I didn’t care about my hair when I was first diagnosed. But when it all started falling out I was devastated. It’s ok to mourn the loss of your hair. Each step needs to be mentally processed, I.e. mad, sad, crying. It does make it easier if you accept this will happen every time something changes. Best of luck! Feel well! Drink water!
Your cut looks cute and makes you look younger. When your hair comes back it will be shiny and rejuvenated. I know it still has to be hard, but you got this; you are strong and resilient!
You had beautiful hair and you still have beautiful hair. ❤ It seemed like my hair would never grow back, but it did. Its HELL what you're going through now but this too will pass. Your life will be recognizable again. ❤❤❤
So amazing to watch you take control of your situation. ❤ ~ My brother -in -law did the same thing battling terminal brain cancer. You are such a beautiful person ,regardless of what you look like. Much love from Chelan Washington. ❤❤
You look so pretty with your new haircut! Good decision. I shaved my hair. It was coming out too fast. Didn't want to have hair falling out in my drain. It is so hard to do. It is devastating for a women. I am wearing scarfs and beanies. I also have a hat with hair and got a wig. Keep the positive attitude. Best wishes for a good recovery. Prayers to you and your family.
From Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 My Warrior Friend, I applaud you👏🏻. I know this was a tough call to make because our hair is part of who we are, our identity. You have beautiful hair, long, short or none at all (for a moment in time). Your personality shines through your lovely face with expressive eyes so no matter you’ll be amazing. I was only going to go the cap route while I was bald ( or free of hair 😉) but decided to try a wig. I went the 1st time & cried. The second time I bought one just to wear when going outside to appts. etc.. I found for me, it was less jarring on my mindset. I’m now done my chemo as of last Thursday so hoping my hair growth will come back at least like it was 🤞🏻🙏. It will take time, so as they say “Patience is a Virtue”. BTW, I found when losing my hair it was very frustrating ‘cause hair was everywhere (eyes, nose, mouth, sink drains, floor etc.) within days I shaved it off. You are in my 🙏&❤️. We will get through this sad & trying time & look forward to happier times. Sending virtual hugs 🤗.
Oh, it hurt my heart to see you cut your beautiful hair. But it looks so cute! I know this is a tough road. You are brave and strong. You’ve got this! ❤
YOU are BEAUTIFUL with long and now short.... Radiant smile... artistic... magical in so many ways... and importantly a real nice person! Of course, your hair is a big part of your identity. t's a part of you. :( So sorry its thinning Stage 4 fighter here. I am strutting my bald noggin, until it grows back. I do not like when every folical ( sp)hurts,... IT IS HORRIBLE:( Sending gentle virtual hugs ♡
You have beautiful hair in 2016 I came home from a shopping trip with my parents i had a very uneasy feeling come over me before turning the door knob sure enough my precious husband was asleep forever in his chair I developed PTSD and lost over half my long thick hair I was tested for different things before diagnosed with PTSD I'm so sorry I understand how you feel about loosing your hair but I was blessed not to have cancer I've had alot of health issues but not that God Bless 🙏💞
My sister's hair fell out, and never grew back. That is very rare. But from the time it started to fall out she got some really lovely wigs which she still wears. She never wanted pity for being a cancer patient etc. so would never go round with an 'obvious' scarf cover up. She was always very positive and now she says she never has a bad hair day. People ask her where she gets her hair done etc. I have long curly hair so not sure if I would be so positive but if your choice is life I'm sure I would get on with it, but it would be hard. Best luck on your journey.
Hi Amanda! Greetings from Connecticut! I follow your blog but have never posted before this. I just want you to know how fab you look! This hair style has taken 10 years off of you (not that you ever looked old) but you just look much younger! You have a beautiful face and bone structure so this style looks great on you! Your beautiful curly hair will grow back eventually and I know that may not help you right now but taking this 1st step of having your hair cut so short is very smart and brave of you! You will survive this❤❤❤
I am so sorry! I know it must be horrible but I think about Hollywood and all the actresses up there. I'm always thinking what gorgeous hair she has, and then so many times I find out that they're wearing extensions or wigs. They look so natural these days. Not that you want that but I'm hoping it'll give you some comfort knowing that. And, it's not forever! You're beautiful hair will grow back. I know it's still not easy and I'm sending you hugs and prayers! I totally understand that it's never the same until we are the ones actually going through it! I get it! I felt that way when I went through something with my eyes! It was awful! So please know that we're praying for you and we'll keep them coming! Hugs!!!🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏
Amanda it looks great. The red devil you are taking does cause follicles to die unfortunately. You might want to consider rosemary mint oil to treat scalp. Apply rows of oil, gentle massage and cap. The Doc did this to attack the cancer quickly. The cold cap helps but more so with the other chemo given. You are beautiful despite and it's a good sign the chemo is trying to do its job. One day at a time.. You Got This💙
I'm so sorry. You are beautiful and your hair is too. The good thing about hair is it will grow back. Your face is beautiful. I'm sending you love and prayers. You are an inspiration.
You look so good !! Your hair is so thick & lovely! My hair was very thick but started thinning five months after my chemo. Had it cut to chin length & I love it! Have chemo now every 8 weeks for two years after chemo every 28 days for six months! Hoping my thinned hair will start coming back. I'm using a bar shampoo called Earthling along with a the bar conditioner. It definitely makes a difference! Best to you through your journey!

Wow the bob looks amazing on you. It’s very flattering and makes you look younger. However, in saying that - I understand that you feel your hair is linked to your identity. But shorter hair on you is fabulous. I think you will look great with no hair too cos you have a lovely face. Sending love x
Aww air hugs to you! The short hair does look so cute though. I ended up going to a salon/wig shop pre chemo and had mine shaved off. I actually liked the smooth head and no washing factor but your head does get real cold even at night so have some cozy caps on hand. I really liked a few thin bamboo ones for sleeping. It’s a lot but you will still be you. ❤💜💛
You have beautiful hair….long or short…. I totally get that you don’t want to be bald…. It was the worst for me….6 months after my last chemo treatment I have had 2 haircuts….I totally appreciate my hair…..never a bad hair day for me anymore….funny how having had cancer makes us appreciate even the smallest of things…..🙏🤗❤️🙏🤗❤️
Can’t imagine how hard this is I have fine hair but lots of it and enjoy styling it etc Your hair is really beautiful so this must be the toughest time for you Warm, gentle Hugs 🤗
You look gorgeous, with some luck your hair will just thin out a bit. Unfortunately it becomes so annoying with hair constantly falling out. If that should happen it’s almost a relief to be rid of it. Hopefully the cold cap will save most of it. Good luck 🍀
It looks so cute. It's so hard but the end goal is just get well and hair grows back. Due to Lupus I have to keep mine very short as its no longer the thick glorious hair I used to have.
No matter what you do its going to fall out. But it will grow back beautiful too. Iv had cancer twice. The chemo on the first one just thinned my hair it was the radiotherapy the made it fall out at the back xx
First of all, you look beautiful with long and and your shorter hair cut ❤️ you have kind and beautiful eyes and a beautiful smile. Both will always be there. You have a beautiful soul and will be beautiful don’t matter what hairstyle you will have! My heart goes out do you,💖 you are in my prayers and thoughts 🙏🏻🙂. You are loved by many. Stay strong and keep smiling! May the good Lord, always keep you safe in his hands🙏🏻❤️
You are an artist aren’t you? Well consider your head a canvas to decorate by season, holiday, how you feel. I offered to decorate my friends head. A young gal in the children’s hospital had her head hennaed. It was gorgeous. You are gorgeous. It comes from inside remember.
I think it looks beautiful short! I’m curious if you think this could be in anyway be related to the the latest shots for the Covid thing? My best buddy got aggressive cancer right after so it makes me wonder at times,
I did it! I cut my hair! It wasn't so bad :)
I lost all my hair during chemo, but some people who have a lot of hair do keep some., as it thins out. I was lucky my mom gifted me a beautiful wig, and I loved it. My insurance didn't pay for it. Yes she looks better shee had way to much hair it looked like a horses tail. And it didn't have much shine to it.
Love the new hairstyle! It gives off a fun, sassy, Flapper-esque vibe.

Your new cut looks amazing on you!
It looks great! You’re so attractive, you’d look good in any hairstyle! And the red wig in your previous post??… it’s gorgeous!!

Your hair is beautiful - and it will grow back when it's all over.
That haircut actually looks really good
I love the length of your hair Amanda, it looks So cute on you. I hope you don't have to shave it, but if you do, you know it will grow back 😘
Your hair looks great, very healthy looking and you look so great too.
I agree, “cute and fun”!! I honestly think it suits you. You will be beautiful bald too. It’s just who you are!
You really suit it that length and style. 😌 Kia Kaha (stay strong)
Beauty comes from within and you got that.
🌬🤍 I know how hard this is for you. I'm feeling the same way.
Some days I feel like shaving my head.
Other days I feel ok with it just falling out. Day by day.
I did buy the spray to cover grays and it works really good Hiding baled spots.
You might want to check it out if you get patchy.
It was like 10.00

Stay STRONG 💪🤍💪

I'm also a self taught artist I didn't find my passion until a year ago. And what a stress relief it is for me.
I'm just getting more tired.
I’m sorry about your hair! I fully understand since I am on chemo too! My hair was fine and straighter than a stick! Now it’s kinky curly like I got a bad perm! It’s also starting to fall out again I think. You do have beautiful curly hair and you will again. Remember, to shave your head or you will still have all this little stubble falling out! The sooner it’s gone the sooner it will grow back. I haven’t lost mine fully. I did get a pixie cut to lessen the shock and it did help. You look good with your hair shorter too btw!
You will look beautiful no matter what Amanda xxoo
you look so cute! short hair looks great, and so will every version of you!
I think your hair looks amazing. You rock that short bob girl!
Love your new cut and your courage! You are a warrior! Natural henna with out chemicals helped to slow down the hair loss and helped with neuropathy of the scalp, hands and feet…. The hair loss is hard but only a piece of the journey and it will grow back. I did not do the cold cap as I had such thick hair and was in denial that I would through nutrition defeat the effects of chemo. I went in stages with my hair…shorter and shorter until no hair. Looked like a furry animal died in my waist can in the bathroom one morning ! I would not trade the difficult journey I have had as my lowest CA-125 and successful surgery is giving me a chance to beat this! Sending you healing vibes! You have got this! ❤
You look sooo much better with short hair. It looks much healthier too!
😊🙏hang in there. have a good day and take good care of yourself.
You look so cute and sassy with your shorter hair!
You are beautiful no matter what!!
Oh honey it looks so cute!
You have very beautiful curly hair. Will growing back more beautiful do not worry!
Can’t imagine how hard this is
I have fine hair but lots of it and enjoy styling it etc
Your hair is really beautiful so this must be the toughest time for you
Warm,gentle Hugs 🤗
You look gorgeous, with some luck your hair will just thin out a bit. Unfortunately it becomes so annoying with hair constantly falling out. If that should happen it’s almost a relief to be rid of it. Hopefully the cold cap will save most of it. Good luck 🍀
You are beautiful inside and out! ❤🙏
I really love your hair. Maybe it wont fall out. You look so cute with the cut.
I really do 💗 your new haircut, I can’t do shorter hair but you look cute 🥰
It's so incredibly cute!!
It looks so cute. It's so hard but the end goal is just get well and hair grows back. Due to Lupus I have to keep mine very short as its no longer the thick glorious hair I used to have.
You look gorgeous girl!!
You always look BEAUTIFUL!🤩🤩❤️❤️🌹🌹
No matter what you do its going to fall out. But it will grow back beautiful too. Iv had cancer twice. The chemo on the first one just thinned my hair it was the radiotherapy the made it fall out at the back xx
