Note that 8GB cards are a VERY good value for a significant portion of the gaming community.
These folks aren't playing the latest AAA games. And will NOT be doing so. They're playing 4X games or puzzle games, or stuff from 5-10 years ago that's still going strong.
These folks need a more *powerful* card than what they have, but their games aren't big texture hogs.
Something like a 4060 or 7600 is a great idea for someone on a 1650 Super who wants to play at 1440p on Stellaris.
    Or has World of Tanks.
Don't makes the false assumption that "gaming" means you only play RDR2 or COD2 or Death Stranding.

I think one of the biggest issues we’ve seen with GPU’s came out of the pandemic. We haven’t recovered from the scalping nonsense of 2020, and by extension, 2024. There is no reason to spend $1100 on a GPU alone. I’m concerned for the future, more so as an American PC gamer due to anticipated Tariffs in the next year, which may increase prices more. It feels as though PC companies, some not all, are making PC building into luxury brands: flashy and Uber-expensive.

I mean Framegen started out and is at least at quality setting an acceptable thing for 4k. At 4k quality in most games you can hardly even notice a loss in quality but can gain 30% more fps.
At 1440p if you need framegen you might as well go back to 1080p, at 1080p framegen you might as well get a console.
Sadly too many publishers have used the excuse of framegen to not even try to optimize their games anymore and now we have $1000 gpu unable to run 1440p native at 144 fps.

I can run starfield all on ultra with DLSS and FG and get above 100 fps most of the time. So I'd says the 4060 is worth it if u have a 1080 p monitor

The 4090 is no longer in production, and the price premium means the cheapest model starts at $2,000. I think there is nothing wrong with the 7900xtx, and there are even good discounts on Black Friday. As for cards like the 4060, 6750xt, and 6750gre, they have always been good value for money choices. You can see that the sales of the 3060 are still very high, and you get what you pay for. Even if there are similar models in the future, there will not be a big improvement.

I got my 7900XTX for 600 right now. The XT goes for 500, and the price difference really justifies the XTX right now. The price may dip soon, but it might just as well skyrocket since the 8800 is supposed to be aimed at mid market, and the XTX is likely going out of production not to eat into the 8800 market. And the 5090 going for 2500 is going to replace the 4090 in production, so their price is gonna skyrocket as well. And those are the only alternatives for 4k gaming.

It makes sense if you look at the price of the 5090 - but if you are buying a 90 iteration you're clearly looking for a top-of-the-line piece of hardware, so are probably already prepared to pay out.
I have a 4090, and I was lucky enough to get it for just a bit above 1600. I freaking love it. Considering the 5090 is going to be an absurd price, I sincerely wish I could just fork over the money for one of those too, but I guess I got my 4090 not all that long after they were restocked for (probably) the first time at those vendors.
I'll have to see just how much better it is, before I decide to buy a 5090 - as much as I love my 4090, for those suggested prices, it had better damn well be a LOT better.

The Hellhound model you showed can even be found for 700 on some sites.
The 4090 is a bad investment overall. 2k new, 1.5k used, can catch fire, will be slugged once 5090 comes out as with all Nvidia next gens. (Not saying AMD isnt guilty of it either)
The 7900XT is good but the true price to performance king right now is the 7900GRE. At 550 its the best GPU for the money. 16GB Vram, same 7900XT/X die, same 350W tdp and cooler spec.

Although if you’re really looking for value, go with the AMD cards he specifically said not to buy in this video. Amazing performance and amazing price.
