Raagistaan Desert Diaries is a 6 episode folk music series by Red FM, where the host RJ Sudeepta travels through the heart of Rajasthan to meet 6 internationally renowned folk artists from India.
In this episode, she travels to a far-flung village named ‘Baiya’ to meet the energetic & enigmatic singer Swaroop Khan, who started to sing at the tender age of 5 under the tute-lage of his father Niyaz Khan & his uncle Anwar Khan. He won the hearts of the entire India with his voice after participating in Indian Idol Season 5. Though today, he’s an established name in playback singing with many Bollywood chartbusters like ‘Tharki Chokro’ & ‘Ghoomar’ to his name but even then he continues to push the envelope by reinventing folk for today's audience!
