yes I know of this idea. but I truly want to know how much torque the threads can take before striping out?? heard maybe its 3hp? I want to see a freewheel sprocket that has a keyway to lock on thread to prevent striping. good idea?
@aaron - The free wheel would need extra inner material so a broach could make the keyway. Then afterwards you could run a large tap through it. This way you would get both threads and a keyway down the entire length of the threads. Probably more trouble than it's worth though.
Approximately 10.7 ft-lb at 10,000 rpm is probably asking too much. My guess is the heat from the stress would eventually destroy it, but I don't know the specifications so I can't be certain.
