it updates every 2.5 seconds, the fastest of any personal weather station and is very accurate.. However it needs a decent steady wind to the anemometer up to speed; and if it mounted near the ground( as is mine)/ close to objects, the wind speed is drastically reduced and turbulent.. both lowering the readings. expect 1/2 to 1/3 actual peak gusts if mounted as in video ( The only downside of not upgrading to Vantage Pro2 Plus
If roof mounting, mount as far away as possible from the ridge ( Causes turbulence). Changing the height from 5 feet to 16 feet gives me much higher, more constant wind speeds, so the 33 feet height reccomendation is great. the console weighs over 5 lbs so that is not practical.. Also keep in mind the maintenance of clearing debris out of rain gauge, changing battery occasionally, and snow removal. If wind speed is the most important measurement for you, i'd go with the Pro version or the separate wind sensor which can be linked up to the Vantage Vue ( check details)
Hi great video review I'm new to the weather hobby please can I ask is it still working and would you still recommend in 2023 with much cheaper less quality brads aroound. My issue is be nice to have it internet connected but that's extra
Does anyone know if this console will display wind direction in DEGREE's, vs. just the ARROR? My Davis Vantage Pro2 shows degree's or wind speed. Thinking of buying this one for down by the lake, but not sure I like the console as much.
The console does display the degrees of wind direction along with arrows.. in the circle in upper left corner.. It alternates with windspeed by push of a button
How wonderful to see a review of a working station - one that has seen 10 years' worth of weather! Thanks for posting @TaigaTurf
Thank you @DavisInstruments .. Feel free to share the video and let potential customers see it's truly the best quality.
Cool weather starion😮
Ty

Agreed!
Wow what a scientific cool device to have....
Affordable too
Wow Ten Years! Now that's Quality! I WILL HAVE TO LOOK INTO GETTING ONE OF THESE DAVIS Weather Stations!
For under 300$, they are great for homesteaders
Very interesting weather station, you don’t come across them often❤️❤️Your video was fun to watch 👍 Big like
glad you liked
Incredible machine
Ty
Records winds up to 110 mph; updating every second
It is speced to 200 mph, Taiga!
@@davisinstruments Amazing!
@@davisinstruments only records to 110 mph on the box!
Every 2.5 seconds
@@koreymayo8884 yes.. the best of the home weather stations
What’s the wind accuracy? My old ambient station measured a 21mph gust, when trees were coming down and our actual wind was over 60mph.

@@TaigaTurf mine would be roof mounted, about 30ft with no obstructions.

Is that a robot? Or a time sensor?
it's a weather station
Now it had been in us for more than 12 years.
What is the temperature range on this?
-40F to 122F
Good question!
@@trurootboutique3013 it works below -58F too, just the accuracy is off by a degree or 2
So educational

Yes.. it's working continually since 2011. Console works great too w/ backlight
Mine made to 11 years old then the capacitor in the solar array went out.
Not bad for a machine under 300$
@@TaigaTurf Yes, I have really enjoyed my Vantage Vue from Davis, so much that I just ordered another to replace my old one.
Still going strong.
