Typically tray one needs to be set up as letter and the media type is plain. You can set the multipurpose tray up for legal and also plain. It's also important to make sure when you're printing something that the media type is correct as well from the print driver.

Probably the worst printers ever. I should know I have 50 of them. Moved from the FS-1030MFP. I am currently looking for a different make/model.
